Questions about this item:
Shopper Will this fit men's fins with boots, wet suit, and snorkel gear?
RONALD J Yes, there is plenty of room for additional gear also.
JEFF S Sure will. I also get a BC and Regulators in along with a lot of clothes, but have to be careful about the 50 lb weight limit. Bag has been on 5 or 6 trips since purchase. I would buy another. Also had an issue with a zipper failure and Leisure Pro replaced bag without any problem.
BARBEL S It fit my son's gear. He's tall, but the wetsuit was just a shorty.
LEAH H yes its big. I put all my gear (minus tank/weights) and clothes
JIM A I use the Akona bag when I am going on a cruise because sometimes we have to walk a distance to the dive boat or to meet the dive operator off the pier where the cruise ship docks. On local dive I really don't use it much because it is rigid on the bottom and takes up to much room on the dive boat . Also on local dive boats I can drive up very close where the boat is so I don't have to carry it very far.
ALEXANDER M Yes - absolutely. It fit my wetsuit, bcd, mask, fins, snorkel, tool kit, booties, etc, along with regulator and computer in the side/end pocket - a great size.
GREGORY R Yes, snorkel gear will be fine; it is a great bag. However, a thick wet suit and BCD will not fit well in the bag.
LUKE P Yes, shouldn't be a problem. I carry fins, bc, reg set, mask, and drysuit undergarments with no problem.
TOM R Yes, as long as the fins are not the xtra long spear-fishing ones. This bag is a killer deal, we've used it on about a dozen dive trip now. Real tuff.
LEONARD A I purchased this bag to accomodate all of my scuba diving equipemnt.. I am happy to say that everything easily fits into this bag including a dry box for misc. items needed from time to time. This also includes my ditchable diving weights, fish stringer etc.
One must recognize that all of this equipment in one place weighs quite a bit but because it is a roller bag, it makes things very simple getting my equipment from my vehicle to the dive boat. This is the best all-around dive bag that I have owned in my 40 years of diving. If this one somehow wore out, not likely as it is very rugged, I would look to purchase another one similar to it.
JOHN G Absolutely- that and much more. My son still makes week long trips with only this bag and a carry-on. Go for it!
BURTON R Hello,, Very simply my Akona Rolling Duffle holds all my scuba gear, including wetsuit, fins (long Mares Avanti Quatro, Spareair, 1st & 2nd stage regulators, booties & a lot of miscellaneous gear, & sill has a lot of room left. If you look at the 2 straps on the side, they` tighten opposite of each other, which allows a lot of gear to be packed & then`be con
KELLY J Yes, it should fit those items with room to spare.
WADE I Yes. I put in a SCUBA BC, regulator, boots, fins, wetsuit, gloves, and hood. I think it will be a bit large for just snorkel gear.
DON Y Yes it will. I've packed all my gear which included 3mm wet suit, microprene tropical wet suit, hooded vest, BC, men's SCUBA fins, booties, 2 lights, gloves, sav-a-dive kit :-).
ELMER Y The bag will hold a BCD, fins, reg and octo, mask, snorkel, two wet suits of different thickness with booties, plus a back pack and mesh dive bag. It will also hold two pair of shoes, bathing suits, some t shirts and shorts.
I have traveled around the world with this bag. The two straps allow you to keep your gear snug with a full or partially full bag of gear.
Bill M Is this bag collapsible onto the bottom base for stowage?
JIM A When the bag is empty the top part will callapes just like any other duffle bag but because it is a roller bag there is a frame along the bottom that will not callapes. For this reason I only take it when I travel because it does take up more room on a dive boat than a regular duffle bag would.
Yope this answers your question.
HEATHER P It does fold down pretty flat when empty. The front storage compartment is an excellent feature.
BO M No - the bottom, running the length of the bag, is stiff. It helps support & keep its shape. Might be a challenge for you if you go on a liveaboard with VERY limited space.
I love the bag, though !
Hopes this helps in your decision.
RONALD J Yes the bag is collapsible onto the bottom base. It has performed very well so far. Plenty of room for packing dive gear even when going out of the country. Hope this helps in your decision making.
FRANK W Yes. The top is soft and it stores relatively flat onto the base.
TRAVIS K No it is not. However the walls/sides of the bag are not hard or foam filled so when completely empty the bag is only 2.5 inches thick. I store mine full of other smaller bags and things and stuff it under the bed. It has traveled from Minnesota to Florida, Bahamas, and Mexico for cave diving and has held up well.
LAWRENCE W Yes the upper portions and sidewalls of the bag are collapsible. The base however is hard plastic but in my model is removable.
DOREEN S Yes it does fold down on itself, the back is a hard frame. On a recent trip it fared well with some rather rough treatment. It's very light compared to our older Akona travel bags.
ALEXANDER M Not the one I bought, no. Mine is from about three years ago, however, and I don't know if they've made any changes. The 'top' of the bag (as pictured) will smush down pretty flat against the long bottom (the part with the collapsable handle), but it won't fold down to the semi-circle base by the wheels. Great bag, however, very tough, just enough room for all my gear (including wetsuit if I take it), yet the airlines don't balk at the size. Love it.
LAURA M The end pieces can be folded down into the base. The hard, plastic base, including wheels is up to 6" high.
LEONARD A Yes, it is collapsible onto the bottom base which is rigid. I personally never store it because it is large enough for me to keep all of my gear in one place. This practice enables me to just wheel my gear to wherever needed for my next dive without worrying whether I have brought everything along.
JOHN G The bag is soft sided and flattens out fairly well. I have no problem storing the bag.
ROBERT S Almost down to about 3.5 inches or so. Mine is stored under my bed stacked two together.
BURTON R Hi Bill, The answer to your question is a big YES. I have several other canvas roller bags for other purposes & the Akona is flatter than them. It also fits into a diving locker much better than other makes. I have been loyal to Scubapro in the past, but the Akona had all the features I wanted, including a reasonable price. I've been delighted with mine & know if you buy the same model, you will be, too. Good luck, Burt
Shopper Does this bag have mesh for drying similar to AKB554?
LeisurePro S No, this roller bag does not have a mesh layer.
Shopper I want to be sure that I can lock all the main compartements for when the bag is checked or left unattended. Do the zipper pulls include a secure ring that can be used to lock the main top compartment and the end regulator compartment? I also notice from the picture that there is a small extension at the bottom of the bag. Is that for the fins, and if so, can that be locked as well? Thankyou
LeisurePro S Main compartment can be locked and the extension is a retractable handle. the reg bag cannot be locked.
