Questions about this item:
Darius K Is the camera without the housing water proof? i understand you can take the camera out of the housing.
JUSTIN M It is not waterproof out of the housing. However, it is a solid camera on its own. Very handy because two cameras in one - above and below.
DOYLE C No, it is not water proof without the housing. It is a great camera for land shots outside the housing but other than using it while on a dive I would reserve it for use in the housing as an underwater camera.
ROLLIN E NO!
The camera is a standard "pocket sized" camera. It has upgraded software to handle above water and underwater settings (software adjustable). Its a great stand alone camera, but don't get it wet!
JANELL H You can use the camera without the housing, but it is not waterproof without the housing.
GEORGE M Absolutely not. You should take great care to keep the housing and seals clean and free of sand and dirt.
STEVEN S Sorry to say the camera is not water proof or even water resistant without the housing. That would make to much sense.
KAREN K You need the housing on to go into the water. The camera itself is not waterproof, it's a normal camera that has user friendly under water settings as well as land mode.
KRISTINE B No, the camera is not waterproof. You can use it outside the housing and it takes great photos, but can't take it in the water without the housing.
KANDI G You can take the camera out of the housing, but don't do it underwater. The camera itself is not waterproof. It's like any other small point and shoot camera. You can use it as such. I use it without the housing about 80% of the time. It also is my main underwater camera. The housing is easy to use. My only suggestion is to get a light for it also. The flash doesn't help spotting things to shoot.
RENA G DEFINITELY NOT waterproof or even water resistant without housing. :(
CAROL C No, it's a regular camera out of the housing and you cannot get it wet or near moisture or sand or dirt.
KEVIN K No, the camera without the housing is not waterproof.
NATHAN E I don't think so... And I'm not going to be the one to try it. I will say that it's the best low light camara I'v ever usedwithout a flash
LINDA M Yes it's an independent camera. It takes beautiful pictures & in the housing the underwater settings are easy to use.
SUSIE S No, without the housing the camera is not waterproof. It is easy to use the housing though.
MICHAEL M Without the housing IT IS NOT waterproof.
MICHAEL M It's a small camera that sits in the housing. You don't need the housing to use it.
WILLIAM R The camera can be used out of the housing as a land camera.
It is not waterproof outside the housing.
ROBERT S M No it is not. It can be used as a land camera.
Kelvin P Is the picture show the housing already? Do I need to buy the housing separately.
NATHAN E Yes, your looking @ the housing.... The camera it self is inside. I must add with the strobe I'v taken some great pic @ 100 ft. It also takes great low light indoor shots when taken out of the housing
DAVID R The camera and the housing come together in the package. The photo shows the housing, not the camera itself, but they are sold together.
CAROL G Hi, This photo shows the camera all ready to take pictures, in the housing. We are new to diving, as well as underwater photography. Took lots of pictures diving in the keys, and this camera worked pretty well on automatic. We only dove to about 25 feet, so we did not use the strobe, but we will this weekend on our wreck dive!
KAREN K Housing comes with "sealife" cameras.
JERRY S The housing is shown in the picture -- the housing comes with the camera.
MICHAEL F The picture is the camera with the housing. The camera is fairly small and can easily fit in a pocket
SCOTT P This item includes the digital camera and housing. You are looking at the housing in this picture - the camera itself is protected inside the housing. And FYI, the housing is really nice with big buttons on the back and top you can easily press and use while underwater or wearing gloves.
WILLIAM R The housing is included. Setup is simple.
ROLLIN E You get everything in the picture. Flash, flash cable, housing, camera, instructions, charging cables, computer connection cables. I don't remember if I bought batteries for the flash, or if they were included. I think I had to buy a memory card. I got a 16 gb card, and then got a second in case I filled up the card on a trip. On my last trip I accidentally left the video on for two min; it took up about half a megabyte of memory. By my calculation that means a 16 gb card could hold about 1000 hours of video- my entire scuba career could fit on one card. I also got some extra "moisture munchers". The unit has positive buoyancy, so some camera weights probably would be good.
I've had fun with the unit. . It is a digital camera, so when you push the button the camera software tries to figure out the best settings. Sometimes it works just ok, sometimes it takes photos so sharp they look photo-shopped.
Hope this helps
JANELL H This picture shows the entire set up you will use in the water- the camera is already inside the housing.
DENNIS M Everything you need is included in the 1400 Pro Set. The camera is extremely easy to use. I just returned from the Bahamas where I took 250 pictures and 20 videos. Make sure to check the battery level for both camera and flash. I ran out of power on one dive, so after that before every dive I would recharge the camera and I took spare batteries for the flash. I would highly recommend this product.
ALISON K This picture shows the housing and it comes with the set so no need to purchase that separately.
MARK T This picture shows the camera and the housing. The housing is sturdy as shown in the picture and the camera is fits into the housing. I have used this product on a recent dive trip and was very satisfied.
NORMAN M The picture shows the housing, the camera is in side the housing. The picture is the complete unit along with flash and is very easdy to set up.
Its easy to carry, very user friendly.
Shopper I have the Pro Flash and Video light already (used with the Reefmaster mini). I am interested in buying the SeaLife DC1400.
When I talked to SeaLife they said the "flashlink" that links the strobe's cable to the DC1400 camera comes with the camera not the strobe. Is that the case with your product?
NATHAN E Yes, the link did come with the camera as I recall. For they where shipped separate. Camera came directly from SeaLife
NATHAN E Very satisfied! Used in the Caymans @ 100 ft. with great success. It's also takes great low light photos. Easier to use then my T3i @ times
THOMAS B I purchased the camera and the flash together but when i opened it up, the flashlink was connected to the flash and the camera and the flash were in seperate boxes.
WILLIAM R The flash link adapter that shields the camera's internal flash and connects to fiber optic cable comes with the camera and housing.
Evgeny B Hi, got this camera from your shop 3 weeks ago and now trying it in Mexico. Few thing to ask:
1) Cannot make any shot or access menu under 80-100ft due to pressure. Simply no button works - is it ok, does any other users have the same experience?
2) Camera battery goes down after ~100 shorts with flash, or 2 dives. Is it ok? Should i replace battery?
KAREN K Hello,
My first camera was having exposure and color variances. The customer service for Sealife looked at sample pictures I had and had me mail the camera to them. They sent me a new camera in return. Since then I've taken some land pictures. Will not get a chance to test dive settings until next month. I would contact them if I were you. The housing should withstand that depth. As for the camera battery, I don't think I have been able to go more than 2 dives with any of the camera batteries. I always buy an extra battery.
WILLIAM R Have not had any difficulty with button failure. Suggest you call technical support at SeaLife.
Battery life has always been an issue with most underwater point and shoots. 100 images is about on target. I carry a couple of spares when I travel. Be sure to charge and fully discharge and recharge any new battery before serious use. This will prolong life and could extend your 100 images.
Shopper Does this come with a case?
NATHAN E Yes if you by the strobe
KAREN K Yes, a soft case.
Shopper does this camera need a seperate wide angle lens for best shots of large subjects attached to the housing or does it have a built in lens that does both macro close-ups and wide angle 8-10ft shoots of large subjects?
Brett H The lens on the camera is already wider than most of the previous Sealife models so there is no need to add a wide angle lens to it. The lens is also able to do macro and close-ups as well.
Trent S Does the flash diffuser that's included belong to the camera, or the strobe?
Monica s Hello, it comes with the strobe.
