Questions about this item:
Shopper I have an Oceanic SWIV combo console with analog depth gauge. Does anyone know if this computer can be swapped for the analog depth gauge? I assume they are both 2" hockey puck size.
JAMES P I think it can be swapped. The face on my VEO measures 2 3/16 inches.
GREG A This computer is very simple mto operate and can be swapped for analog depth guage. I done this to one of my consoles and am very pleased.
GA
Instructor
DAVE G I have not tried to install it in a console but I believe it is the same size.
Shopper My comp is stuck in gauge mode. How do I turn it off? It doesn't show as an option when I scroll through settings.
JOHN M you gotta wait. It's automatic. 24 hours after a dive or a couple of hours if you turn it on and don't take a dive.
DAVID T to answer a question with a question...Did the computer log a diving violation.
If so, it automaticly goes into guage mode for 24 hrs.
If not, take the battery out for a little while... see if it resets when you relace it.
JONATHAN K I bought this for my son, so I don't know what the answer is but I'd call Oceanic Customer service. They are very good and responsive. My Veo 2 wouldn't shut off after an ocean dive and they helped me diagnose and correct the problem.
I not allowed to give the web address or phone number in this answer, but you can google oceanic worldwide and find the contact info pretty easy.
Shopper Does this Veo have an audible alarm eg. @ 15 ft to time the 3 min safety stop?
Bill D
EDWARD B. G It's been a while since I dove with mine but I don't believe it does.
JULIAN O No audible alarms, but I am basically happy with it.
joy w CAN THIS BE USED DIVING NITROX?
DONALD T We have two Veo 100's that are about 4 years old. They were not nitorx compatable at that time. We also have two Veo 180's which are about the same age and are nitrox capable.
MIKE G no need to go to higher model for notrox
JAMES S No, the Veo 100 is a air computer only.
ERIC H i use this computer as a backup and i rarely use nitrox as i think it's over blown, has it's own problems, and is usually not worth the extra money for the fill.
however, i believe you need the Veo 100 Nx model for nitrox. the manuals are available online from oceanic so i would suggest you read the manual on the veo100 to be sure.
CLINT C It's a nice little, very basic computer. It doesn't do Nitrox.
CARLTON H It does not have a nitrox setting when I dive nitrox i go back to the good old tables
BARRY W This is a very basic computer. No nitrox
Shopper is this computer give F02 setting?
FAREED H Dont understand the question. What is F02?
STUART M Sorry I can't give too much information.I bought the computer for my wife . She has use it just a few times. However she has not made any complaints, which is rare for her.
TIMOTHY D this is a great basic computer but is not for nitrox diving. i like it so moch i bought another. Great battery life and easy to change. also makes a great backup computer. i wear it all the time and i dive over 200 a year
CHRIS P We bought this dive computer for our daughter. We have made several dives at depths up to 115 ft and it has worked perfectly. For the price, it's a very good deal.
william b How do you zero out previous dives on the oceanic veo 100?
DOUGLAS C the only way i know is by taking out the battery.
SUSAN L I don't have my manual with me, but I believe that you DON'T zero dives out; it is programmed to keep them logged. I haven't had to change the batteries on mine yet, so I don't know if that would reset everything (but the product description says that you shouldn't lose the data). As you fill up the log, the oldest dives "go away" and your most recent become first in the log review, so I've never even bothered to try to erase any data.
MARY M L In all my years of diving, I have never cleared my computer of stored dives - it does it automatically after a certain number of dives. That helps prevent accidental clearing. If you really want to get rid of your history, you might try pulling the battery, but NOT during a dive trip as you will clear your history for that dive trip's diving.
DOUGLAS B The only way you can remove dives from the memory is to remove the battery for a period of time longer then 5 minutes this will erase all the memory of exsisting dive data
KIM G The only way that comes to mind is to remove the battery for at least one minute. It retains information on the last 6 dives only. I have never felt the need to zero out previous dive information and have used this computer for more than 200 dives.
STUART L I think it only remembers 12 dives. Once you exceed 12 dives, it starts replacing the oldest one in memory. Otherwise, you probably could remove and then replace the battery.
ROGER W P I have never zoroed out previous dives and probably will not. Whenever a new dive is added the oldest falls off if you reach the limit of the log capacity.
Shopper will this fit into a console or only on the wrist strap?
SCOTT D You can take the computer out of the wrist mount and it will fit into a console. You will need remove a small pin that helps secure the computer in the wrist mount. It pulls out real easy. The computer is a standard 'puck style' configuration.
CARLTON H It only works as a wrist strap
John T I bought the Veo 100 and love it just I need a new strap for it and dont know where to buy one anyone know?
ENRIQUE Z They are excellent reliable gauges ...
The best chance to obtain another strap is
to try Oceanic factory ... they sell the straps ...
DAVE S Sorry, don't know where to get one - try the manufacturer.
David R We're sorry as we do not sell the strap itself.
ERIC G Sorry John, I don't. I'd look on their website
DAVE V I have this computer and has been a good basic computer for beginning to dive with a computer. Mine does not have Nitrox so that is a limitation for advanced diving. Not sure where to look for a band but I would suggest you contact Oceanic directly. I had initial battery consumption issues with mine and they took care of me. Otherwise you may contact dive shops that carry oceanic and see if they have one or can find one for you.
Good luck,
Dave
Shopper My wife and I dive with Suunto computers. Are the dive algorithms similar? Will we be able to ascend/descend together? My son just started and I was thinking of getting him this first. Will switch with my Stinger as I dive less later on.
WAYNE S We bought 2 of these for our son & daughter-in-law. I can't answer your question directly, but my wife uses a US Divers Matrix & I use a Sherwood Source. When we have dived with our son & daughter-in-law, we get the same results on all 4 computers. However - and it is a big one - the battery life on the Oceanic Veo has not been good. If you were on a multi-day diving trip, it is likely that the batteries would die & you would lose your dive profiles - making it very difficult to continue diving safely.
We purchased the Oceanic Veos in 2007 and perhaps they have improved on the battery life since then. If not & if you plan multi-day dive trips, I cannot recommend them.
ROLAND C I dive with two computers simultaneously, the Veo 100, and Suunto/Mares mask computer. During a recent trip to Cozumel I compared NDL and depth readings and found that there was little to no difference whatsoever. I think it would be ok in your case for both of you to dive with these computers, and just rely on which one was giving the most conservative reading. In other words, if one computer gave a caution warning first, it would be time for both of you to come up together.
miguel g does it work with nitrox?
BOB E not that I'm aware of
ERIC H i only dive air and bought the veo 100 as a back up computer. i not not believe it can be set for nitrox mixes. there is a veo 100 Nx that i think you can set your nitrox mix on.
MIKE F I bought this model for my son, who is not Nitrox certified: no, this model is not nitrox compatable. However, I replaced my own computer (after 13 years and almost 300 dives) in Feb 2011 with another Oceanic model, the VEO 180NX ,which is Nitrox compatible. I am Nitrox certified and wanted that application. I have been very happy with the Oceanic products and Leisurepro.
DAVID B Not very familiar with nitrox, but from what I know about my computer I dought it's sophisticated enough.
CARLTON H It does not have a nitrox setting but i still use it while i dive with nitrox as a back up but mostly rely on the good old tables.
ROSEMARY R No, it's only for use with air. Doesn't support nitrox
CLARKSTON P The Oceanic Veo 100 is air only. I use it as a backup computer specifically because the air-only is an extra safety factor. If you do want Nitrox cabability, choose the Veo 100 NX.
Shopper Should you reset the computer after a dive trip or do you have to keep a count of the dive number?
JOHN P Reset it. I usually do after a while. Keeping track of the dive number is a pain.
JONATHAN K You don't have to reset it, it keeps track of dives until its memory is full. Since it doesn't have download capability, its best to enter the info from it in to your logbook before the memory is full and you lose the data from that dive.
ERIC G i usually just have it keep counting, you can put a note in your dive log about how you are doing it to keep from getting confused if its a long time between dives...
DAVE S No, it will track your dives up to a certain number ( don't recall how many exactly) then reset itself.
Shopper does it have a gauge mode ?
JIM C The owner's manual says it does, but I've never used it.
TOM W Yes, I use it in gauge most of the time. It is really all I need. Best computer is planning your dive properly. None can take in all variables. More complex computers give you a false feeling of security.
BRIAN M Yes, it does have a guage mode.
LARRY S no gauge mode but that is expensive to have this watch is perfect i just came back from cozumel worked great
ENRIQUE Z Yes ... when you go underwater it goes into gauge mode ...
and displays your Depth .... and the Temperature ...
Superdivemaster ...
TIMOTHY D yes it does. Bought it as a backup and it became my everyday computer
jorge e Does this computer show the current water temperature?
Thanks.
ERIC D Don't think so. I know it has three screens to choose from, but don't remember ever seeing water termperature. You could verify this with Oceanic probably online. I spent a week using the dive computer in the Cayman Islands last month. It is a great/basic dive computer for the cost.
jorge e Or wich one would you rather recommend? I mean, value for money.
LARRY S yes it does its a good computer for the money
jorge e Thanks!
I was wondering if this computer is good for me or not, cuz I'm looking for my first computer, and this is very cheaper than the others in the market, so I'm a bit affraid to buy it or not due the low price.
would you reccomend it for a first computer?
Cheers
LARRY S yes you will like it its great!!! take the online class this takes you through the whole thing best part is its free through leisure pro!
PATRICK L Yes it does show water temperature!
ENRIQUE Z Yes ... This gauge does have a real time water temperature ...
It is a handy and convenient gauge ...
Superdivemaster
ERIC G Jorge,
I don't use it myself, I gave it as a gift, but I know it tracks water temp. It's not on the constant display but I think it diplays if you hold the center button down during your dive.
Hope that helps,
Rick G
GARY S yes it does, for the money I don't think you can do better. It shows the date of the dive, time under water, time on the surface, water temp, time of day, depth, ascent rate and nitrogen. The best part is it keep a log for you to enter on your written log later.
Shopper Does this computer have a gauge mode?
LeisurePro S Yes, the Veo 100 has a gauge mode.
Shopper Does it have audible alarms?
LARRY S i think so i thought i heard mine go off the other day
LeisurePro S Sorry, there is a visual ascent rate indicator (a flashing "too fast" icon), but there is no audible alarms for ascent, safety stops, or deco stops.
Shopper Does it shows "ceiling" and "floor" depth limits while deco stops?
LeisurePro S Yes, the VEO100 shows a ceiling depth. There is no specific floor depth displayed, but the up arrow and deco bar will flash if you are more than 10 feet deeper than the ceiling.
Shopper Where can I buy just the wrist strap for this computer?
LARRY S contact oceanic they sent me a new one
LeisurePro S Check out this wrist boot which should fit the Veo100.
Shopper Can it be used for freediving?
LeisurePro S The Veo 100 does not have a specific free dive mode, so any dive below 4 feet will activate the regular dive mode. It can still be used as a timer, depth gauge, etc.
Shopper Does this computer have an ascend rate indicator?
LeisurePro S Yes, there is a visual ascent rate indicator.
Shopper How high of an altitude can you dive at with this computer?
LeisurePro S The Veo 100 automatically compensates for decreased ambient pressures for Altitudes between 2,000 and 14,000 feet.
Shopper What is the diameter?
LeisurePro S The Veo is approx. 2" in diameter.
Shopper Does the item include a battery already in it?
LeisurePro S Yes, will come with first battery.
Shopper does the model show meters instand of feet ?
LeisurePro S Yes, it can be set to metric or imperial
Shopper Does this model display the temperature?
LeisurePro S Yes, ambient temperature is displayed.
Shopper Does the computer include an interface to store the dives in a pc or laptop?
LeisurePro S No, this computer is not PC downloadable. It does have an internal logbook where it will store info on the last 12 dives.
Shopper Does this computer show air pressure?
Shopper Does this model have a log with date/time, back light, compress and/or safety stop alert(visual/audio)?
LeisurePro S This computer has no backlight or compass, but can store up to 12 dives in a log and will begin a three minutes countdown when you reach 15 feet.
Shopper Can you remove the VEO 100 from the wrist strap and mount in a console?
Shopper Does this model display temp?
LeisurePro S Yes, temperature is displayed on the screen in several modes.
Shopper Can you dive nitrox with this computer?
LeisurePro S No. You should look at the Veo 100 NX, which is the same computer, just programmed for nitrox.
Shopper Does this wrist computer have the same module that's installed in the consoles? Could I remove the module from the wrist band and install it in a SWIV console?
Shopper I was wondering if this can be used with Nitrox? Thank you.
eric b does it have a compass?
