Shopper I plan to wear this while snorkeling in Greece, not with a wetsuit. Will this shirt keep me somewhat warm? (I plan to be in the water about an hour per day). Thank you for your insights.
PREDRAG S Hi, well it depends where will you be in Greece and in what month. In general this is the rash guard that will protect you only from sun burn and smaller jelly fish. I am from Mediterranean area originally and I was actually in Greece last summer and summer 2010, booth times in June and I was cold in only rash guard. If you want to be comfortable while snorkeling there you need at least 1mm wetsuit shorty and if you plan to skin dive while snorkeling you need 3mm wetsuit because it gets really cold over there if you go deeper than 20 ft. Hope this helps
MARISOL S I bought this rash guard for a dive trip to Cozumel. I wore it on 45-80 foot dives and was very comfortable, but the water temp was 84 F. I also wore it snorkeling and it was great for sun protection. Not sure what the water temp is in Greece, but I doubt this rash guard will provide much, if any warmth.
ROBERT W Its like a long sleeved T-shirt. More to keep the sun off of you and keep equipment from rubbing your skin raw.
ANGELA B I didnt notice much warmth from wearing it. I would wear it under a 3mm shorty if you tend to get cold quickly.. Thats what I plan to do when snorkeling next week in Grand Cayman..
CATHY H While I really liked my shirt it is thin and not really for warmth. I also used it for snorkeling, in Hawaii, and liked the fact that I didn't have to worry about sun screen and it was very comfortable. Consider one of the shirts that mention warmth or thickness if your worried about being cold. If I go to and area of colder waters I will definitely buy a thicker shirt.
DEBBIE B I purchased this to wear snorkeling in the British Virgin Islands for the same reasons and it was perfect for my needs! I think you will find it is just enough.
JEFFREY W Generally wont keep you warm, but will prevent sun burm. There are other products on the mkt to keep you warm such as Therma Core.
Katie S This shirt isn't neoprene, it's just a thick Lycra / polyester material. It will offer very minimal (if any) warmth - but if you'll only be snorkeling for an hour and its sunny you'll be fine.. I wear it for diving as a skin and for snorkeling for sun protection and maybe a tiny bit of warmth. I love mine, it's well cut and seems durable.
KATHRYN P It should keep you somewhat warm. It is good quality. I wore it with a wet suit in Jamaica last month. Have fun in Greece.
RITA T I bought it to wear while swimming laps during the winter (in an indoor pool). I wore it once - seemed to be a little warmer to me.
RANDOLPH H I used this RG in Cozumel, boat snorkel tour. The key factors are wind and of course water temperature. Water temperature off west side of Cozumel was 78 degrees. The garment performed well. Sea's were choppy and the wind cooling effect, in the water, was abrogated by the RG. I'm guessing the Eastern Mediteranian will cooler than the Carribean.... a 3 mil shorty might be a good back up. Have a great time!
SUSAN H Perfect top for sun protection and keeping you comfortable...not too warm and not too cold. Great for snorkeling in medium water temps. I'm wearing it running too because it fits so well and offers SPF.
ELSY B Im unfamiliar with the water temperature in Greece, but I use this under my wetsuit when the water is chilly. I would suggest something thicker or wear this with other layers of vest type wet suit.
PAUL W Yes, if it is a good snug fit and it tucked in it will act like a ini wetsuit and keep you warmer
