Advanced technology and light weight! The Carbon 42 is destined to become an object of desire for divers who demand the best in performance under all conditions! In fact, it combines in a single item all the Mares Regulator technologies with the lightest weight possible. The use of an extremely soft and light "superflex" hose makes it the most versatile regulator on the market. The incredible thermal conductivity of the carbon second stage makes this regulator perfect for diving in particularly cold water.

The high performance MR42T first stage is combined with Carbon second stage, for minimum weight and size. The all chrome plated marine brass first stage regulator is a balanced diaphragm design which is environmentally sealed. The diaphragm membrane transmits the pressure changes to the internal mechanism eliminating the need for the surrounding water to enter the intricate mechanism. The benefit of this type of first stage design is that none of the internal parts are exposed to contaminants such as salt, sand, chlorine or pool acids. These environmental contaminants cause corrosion and mineral deposits to form on the internal mechanism deteriorating regulator performance.

The Carbon 42 uses Tri-Material Valve Technology. This patented technology created to optimize performance, safety and reliability. The valve is covered with a hard Polyurethane (PU) and the sealing surface is a layered with a soft PU for a perfect seal. Tri-material (brass, soft PU and …heavy-duty" PU) reaches new levels of durability.

Another unique feature of the first-stage is the Dynamic Flow Control (DFC). The DFC system minimizes the intermediate pressure drop during inhalation, making it possible to use a simpler more reliable second stage. No type of manual adjustment of the second stage is necessary due to the consistency derived from a first stage that guarantees a stable flow of air, even under extreme conditions.

Advanced Carbon Technology makes the regulator lightweight. The exceptional mechanical resistance and extraordinary lightweight make the carbon material perfect for meeting the needs of the most demanding divers. In addition, the high thermal conductivity guarantees natural breathing, reducing troublesome dry mouth.

The patented mesh design of the second stage cover reduces the pressure of water flowing onto the regulators diaphragm and minimizes free-flow. Even in a strong current it eliminates the need for a knob to de-tune your air delivery system- advance technology through basic physics.

All Mares second stages are a reliable downstream valve design and offer the unique patented Vortex Assisted Design (VAD) system. The air bypass tube conveys air to the mouthpiece creating a swirling vortex with a low pressure area in the center that keeps the diaphragm down during inhalation, for very sensitive and easy breathing at all depths.

Mares Carbon second stage incorporates the Fluid Dynamic Deflector, developed after in-depth studies and tests of fluid dynamics, is engineered to receive and properly direct the airflow from the bypass tube to the mouthpiece. Combined with the VAD system it delivers very natural and effortless breathing.

Mares developed the Superflex hose after many years of testing and research. The results achieved far surpassed the tests required by EN250. Hose is extremely light weight and exceptionally soft, guaranteeing the maximum freedom of movement and reducing jaw fatigue. Superflex hose is 3/8" Threaded hose and is 29.5" (75 cm) in length. Mares Carbon 42 comes with a limited lifetime warranty.
