Questions about this item:
Shopper Does this bcd have pockets to put weight in? And how many tank band straps in back?
HUNTER B Yes, the BC has pockets, but not specifically for weights. I typically wear a belt with it. Also, the BC uses the standard single tank strap with an additional, small, 1in thick strap for the tank neck. Hope this helps.
MICHAEL I No - it is not for integrating weights. It has one large tank strap (and a small guide strap at the top). It is very well made and comfortable. Very adjustable.
TIM D 1 Strap in the back for the tank. I like to crank it tight it holds well no issues.
Pockets it does have two deep pockets you could put a soft weight in it if you'd like. This is very light and comfortable.
MORGAN L The BCD does have pockets but they are not necessarily designed to put weight in them, they are more for storage. This BCD is designed to be used with a weight belt. There is one tank band strap in the back.
JOHN F It has regular pockets. Not really made for weights, but they seem pretty sturdy. I guess you could put weights in them if you wanted to. 1 large strap for tank, and 1 small strap up by the valve. I bought this BCD because I know it is used for rentals, so i figured it must be durable. So far so good. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but it is very comfortable and easy to use.
PIERCE R There is one tank band strap in the back.
I've used BCD's in the past with the integrated weight pockets and did not like them...as a matter of fact, I lost weights do to that and so it makes me uneasy to use them anymore. There are 2 VERY large pockets on the BCD, although they are not specifically designed for weights, they could be used for it.
I use a weight belt and it works just fine with this BCD.
For the price - this BCD is fantastic ! It's comfortable, lightweight and fits like a dream. I highly recommend it !
MARJORIE I It has large pockets but not really for the weights.. You'll destroy it after a while but you may probably put it few times and it will work.. I think, only 1 strap only for the tank..
Miyuki S This is not weight integrated - no pockets for ditchable weight - only storage pockets with a velcro closure. It has one cam band and one strap to go around the tank neck. The Cressi Start Pro SKU: CSBSP does have integrated weight pockets.
JOE B This BC does not have pockets for weights. Has one strap for tank.
It is a great light weight BC, very easy to use and does not have the issues as larger BC's have loading and unloading from the boat.
Hope this helps
Ellis F The BCD has 1 tank strap , yes it does have pockets & they are large but they are not for weights, you cannot get the weights out fast if an emergency comes up
Shopper How much does it weigh?
HEYWARD M Dry, without any lead in the B.C. it should be under 5 pounds. I have been using this BC for my college scuba class for several years now, I have about 10 of them and have been very happy with them! I will probably buy several more in the coming fall.
CHELSEA P I have not weighed it but I would say no more than 5 lb it is really light and easy to transport, I have jackets that weigh more than it does!
JOE B It is very light weight. That is why I ordered this one above the others. About 7 or 8 pounds. Not having the lead weights on the BC I feel is much better. Old school
Joe
JOSEPH L It's pretty lightweight I'm just make sure that you order a size smaller than you think you'll need because they run big
Shopper does this required a weight belt or is it weight intragrated?
RAYMOND S The Cressi Start BCD requires a weight belt - Not weight intregrated - Is a rental BCD - We supply to students at the dive center where I teach Open Water - Is my favorite BC - For two reasons - I also freedive - So I have a weigh belt anyway - And for SCUBA I want a streamlined - no drag BCD - As many will say - I all depends on what you want - For me - This BCD is perfect - And the price - Is Great!
LCDR S The Cressi Start BCD is NOT weight integrated. Weight belt required.
FERNANDO V you require a weight belt...
as for quality ..its the best...
JOHN F weight belt is required.
CHET H I bought this BCD for one of my grown kids and have not dived it myself. It does not have integrated weight system, but seems very well made for the $.
HARRY A It has trim weights in the back but still needs weight belt. Does not have intregated weights.
JUAN G It is integrated and weights are included!
MICHAEL I A weight belt is required.
Daniel P does this BC come with the hose that goes from the first stage to the low pressure inflator?
DAVID B Dan, yes it does. Dave B
JOSHUA G Yes it does come with the hose. I have not used it though. The Reg set I purchased came with the BCD hose. I love this BCD in general. It is simple and does the job. I have 32 dives on it and it is perfect for me. It has just enough storage room for the basics.
JOHN B yes. mine did come with the hose
DAVID S Yes, mine came complete with an inflator hose.
Hope this helps.
D. T.
COURTENAY K I don't believe it did. However, don't let this stop you from purchasing this BCD. My son says it is very comfortable and he likes everything about it!
BEATRISA K Yes it does. I received it with the hose. The thing is when i bought the regulators it also came with the same hose, so if you buying it separatly you might end up with two hoses )
LEIGH ANNE W Yes, mine did...great starter BC!
LEIGH ANNE W Yes, mine did...great starter BC!
Oly R I have a back inflatable BC. When inflated on the surface it tends to push my face into the water. Does this BC have infatable sides so that when inflated on the surface it keeps you in a vertial attitude with your head out of water?
Oly R.
SUZANNE E this bcd has a side inflate bladder so it will not push you forward works well
JEFF F I bought this BCD for my son. It is a jacket style and inflates back and front. It seems to keep him vertical when on the surface.
TRAVIS M This BCD does have a limited wrap-around design of the bladder that extends into the pocket regions. It does not tend to push me face forward as a traditional back-inflatable, yet as with all BCDs it does tend to push the user more forward than back. This is often easily overcome by appropriate weight distribution and body positioning in the column or at the surface.
Hope this helps.
ROGER M This BCD is great.Yes it will keep you up strait in the water. The sides of the BC inflate as well as the back. This product is made as tough as they come,I use mine for spear fishing and reef monitoring. My Son liked it so mutch he bought one to take on a Grand Cayman dive trip,he loved it.
Palm Harbor Florida.
DAVID D This bcd is a typical jacket style that will float the diver in a more vertical position vs. back inflation only. Yes, the " sides" of the bcd do inflate. Nice, durable bcd at a very good price.
CARLOS A yes Oly R, this is a grrrrreat BCD i do recomended , are u an OWD? because this nice BCD its a good start im a DM and works good for me.
buy it
HEYWARD M This BC if far superior to the back inflated ones. I have been diving for over 50 years and an instructor at St. Petersburg Colleges' scuba program for over 40 years. I would never have my students use the back inflated BC's. I have been using this Cressi BC for many years, and have yet to wear our one. They hold up very well to the constant use I out them through
Ellis F Yes it does have sides that inflate with the back it will help you stay vertical in the water, but their is not any weight pockets (just large pockets)
BRYAN B Also, if you have trouble at the surface with back inflates try using a tank weight. It should even you out at the surface a little more
BRYAN B the sides inflate on this bc. I do a good bit of diving every year and this is one of the most comfortable bc's that I have worn
CHELSEA P Yes it does inflate on the side and I have had it for about a year and have not had any problem with it!
WILLIAM J I bought the Cressi Start BCD for my wife this summer and she used it on 16 dives in Cayman Brac in August 2011. The side pockets inflate as does the back of the BCD around the tank. The design of this BCD is similar to most of the the newer BC's on the market. My wife likes this BC, it has good construction and it was an excellent value. Only draw back is that it's a little heavy and could use a couple of D-rings. On the surface she didn't have any trouble keeping her face out of the water, but as I recall, the BC does tip her forward a little in the water. This BC is not weight intergrated. Some BCD's have non-ditchabe pockets in the back of the BC to compensate for the tendancy to pitch you forward in the water after a dive when your tank is lighter. - Bill J.
JACKIE P This does have inflatable sides and sits well in a vertical position at the surface
Jim M how much does this Cressi start BC weigh? Does it have any places to carry weights?
RICHARD F Yes, it is a great BCD. I would recommend it, however, I really do not have a lot of confidence in Leisure Pro. They have customer service issues. I placed an order for a trip that was in October 2011. My order was shipped to the wrong address and instead of contacting me they just cancelled it. Oh, and I placed it 6 weeks prior to my trip. I would highly recommend SCUBA Toys
RAYMOND S I bought the Cressi Start BCD to replace my Seaquest Preditor - I love it - even better than the old Seaquest - I use it for hunting trips to the Channel Islands - streamlined - minimum drag - perect for us hunters - no place to carry weights - except in the pockets - No problem wearing a weight belt - because I also enjoy freediving with the same belt - when we are conducting classes I wear a BCD with all the features in front of students - because that is what the diver center wants to sell - but - for me - I love the Cressi Start - guess it all depends what you what from a BCD - And of course - Leisurepro service is fantastic -
Jim M Thanks Raymond. Sounds like a good light travel BC without the extra charge for being light.
I went ahead and ordered a used Start.
I guess I'll have to wait to get it to find out how much it really weighs.
If it weighs over 7lbs then I'll return it since my regular BC is 8 lbs.
With so many responses I am surprised no one stuck it on a fish scale to get a weight.
Jim
RAYMOND S Hi Jim - Just put the Cressi Srart on the fish scale - 5 pounds - Again, it is a great BC for us hunters diving the Channel Islands - Today was opening day for lobster - not many bugs on the boat - but - I love the Cressi Start for hunting - All about what you want from a BC - Good diving - Ray
Jim M Thank you Ray and all responders.
Less drag is a big bonus, not to mention all the confusion of bells and whistles on my old BC.
Even tho' I do don't usually panic in emergencies, for me, simpler is safer.
I always wear a wt belt anyway. those quick release pockets are too easy to knock loose and before you know what happened you are in a a rapid ascent....
Jim
CARLOS A hey Jim M:
let me tell u , very good bcd i used it a lot to teach customers like it,
i dont use weights in fresh water but i took it to the caribbean and put 2 2lb weights in the belt (by the tank) and 2 more in the pockets and works great like a champ im 6,2" and 200 for me its great just like that u gonna love it .
awesome for recreationalk divers
PIERCE R I have the size small and it weighs about 4-5 lbs partially inflated. I wanted a BC that did not have integrated weights and this BC fit the bill. The pockets are super large so you could use them if you wanted.
I have gotten lots of compliments from other divers when they see my Cressi. It fits great and works fantastic and for the price - you just can't beat it !! I've been very pleased with my purchase !!
PIERCE R The Cressi Start is a great BC. I have the size small and it weighs about 4 or 5 lbs partially inflated. I learned how to dive using a weight belt so I was looking for a BC that does not have integrated weights. The Start does not have any integrated weights but it does have super large pockets if you wanted to use them. The Start fits like a dream. My mom has a Cressi BC that she loves so that was why I was looking for a Cressi for me. I've been really happy with it - it works great, looks great and I've gotten lots of compliments from other divers when they see it. It's not expensive and I highly recommend it !!
EARL T It is lightweight, guessing a few pounds at the most. It has two large pockets on both sides that I have personally put weights in. The pockets are velcro secured. Ive put 8 lbs of weights in the pockets, 4 lbs on each side to prevent rollover. The weights were the lead shot bags. Im going to invest in heavier weights for my belt to keep the weights out of my pockets.
FERNANDO V HI,
not sure about the weight but very portable..
no place for carrying weights but very well constructed..
i have 120 dives ( hull cleaning) and no problems so far..
grretings
VIOLETA A It really doesn't weigh that much. I wouldn't exactly have a number, but having almost no upper body strength, It's very light. It does not have an intergrated weight system. I had to get a weight belt. It does have nifty pockets on the sides, but I would not insert weights into them because of the inconveniece it would be if you had to release your weights in an instant.
ALEX S Not sure how much it weighs but its pretty lightweight because of its simplicity. Minimalist BC, not a lot of bulk or useless stuff on them. Bought these because they pack for travel pretty well. Has a large pocket on each side.
TRAVIS M It is a medium weight BCD not sure of exact weight but you could easily travel with it.
Although not wieght integrated, I have used the two side pockets for non-ditchable weights in a pool environment. Would not recomend this practice in open water.
JACKIE P It's a very light BCD, but it does not have weight integration pockets of any kind
CRAIG M Extremely light weight...maybe a few pounds by itselt. Plus a nice handle to carry if you don't want to wear it. It has 2 large pockets that are NOT designed for weights but I always throw an extra 2 pounds in a pocket for a safety stop weight. Worked just fine. In other words...not integrated but a few pounds in each pocket would be fine.
CHELSEA P I would say that it weighs about 6-8 pounds, it has a great hand hold and has a nice hard back back so the tank does not press on you back.
JOHN B I'm not sure about the weight and i don't have a scale handy but as far as a place to put the weights, it is not a weight integrated BCD but it does have large pockets. I have started putting the weights in the pockets and it does just fine. Usually a 5lb and a 1lb soft weight in each, all the way down to the bottom, front corner of the pocket and they don't shift too much unless I'm upside down.
Ellis F This bcd has large pockets on each side, but you will not have a way to release weights quickly if you use pockets (NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR WEIGHTS) the bcd is a good one other than that I got 2 of them for my grandsons GOOD LUCK
JASON G I purchesed this BC for my wife. It is pretty lite I'd say comparable to most BC. There are pockets on each side. There is not an intergraded weight system. You will have to use a belt. For the price it is a great BC we have over 16 dives in the last 8 month without any issues. Nice and basic
MARK S Doesn't weight no more than 5lbs and no it does not have any place to carry weights. Not weight integrated.
Shopper Does it have a loop strap to hook on the top of air tank?
LeisurePro S Yes, there is a loop "tank saver" on the back of the BCD that slips over the neck of your cylinder.
Shopper Does this bc have pockets for weights?
LeisurePro S No, the Cressi Start BCD does not have integrated weight pockets. Check out the Cressi Aquapro 5 or the Cressi Start Pro.
Shopper Does it have a carrying handle?
LeisurePro S Yes, there is a rigid carry handle.
Shopper Does this jacket have shoulder dump vents?
LeisurePro S Yes, there is a pull dump on the right shoulder, as well as one on the left when you pull on the inflator hose.

Whats in the box:BCD, LP Quick Disconnect Hose and Inflator If you're looking for a durable, strong and almost bulletproof BCD jacket than the Start is what you are looking for. Constructed from extremely strong 500 and 1000 denier Cordura, with excellent buoyancy, even on smaller sizes the Start full jacket BCD fits the bill. Designed with the demanding use of Dive Training and Rental Facilities in mind this BCD will give the sport diver years of dependable use. The BCD has three over-pressure relief/dump valves with two located on the left and right shoulders and a third lower valve on the rear right of the air cell. All three can be manually dumped two with pull cords and the other with the power inflator mechanism. There are two plastic D-rings and two additional snap hooks for attachment of instruments and accessories. If used at Dive Facilities a size indicator is highly visible on the right shoulder. BCD has two large accessory pockets with Velcro closures, and the adjustable sternum straps along with both torso adjustment straps are equipped with quick-release buckles. The waist strap/cummerbund assembly is independently suspended from the air cell allowing the air cell to inflate away from the diver preventing the squeeze effect when inflated.
