Questions about this item:
Shopper I don't want just the lens. I want the mask with the Rx lens in the left side?
LELAND J The mask comes with standard tempered glass lenses, so you'll need to buy the mask and a lens for the left eye.
BRUCE E I see no question. If the question should have been "can I install only one corrective lens", the answer would have been "yes just buy the lens desired and leave the original equipment lens in the other.
Hope this helps.
CONLEY J buy the mask and change out the lens as needed
PETER V This is a do-it-yourself project. You order mask with no prescription lens, then the prescription lense(s) you want. Then pop the mask apart and install the prescription lenses.
LeisurePro has posted a how-to video about this on YouTube, unfortunately I can't insert the link here. It's video ID pSvUVjVTADA -- you can paste this code into the YouTube Search field.
Marilyn S Then you just need to get the mask: Cressi Focus Mask SKU: CSBMF and one lens. You can install yourself or have Leisure Pro do it for you for $10.
Jason G A couple of answers here indicate that the lenses are interchangeable left to right so I bought 2 with the same diopter. I don't think this is correct. I had no problem pulling off the frame and putting one lens in but because of the way they are beveled there is no way the lens will fit on the other side. Perhaps I need to order "L" and "R" lenses?
Jason G I stand corrected. I tried this again and others here are correct. Each lens is symmetrical and therefore can be turned and placed in the mask in either side. There is no need for a "R" and "L" lens, they are truly interchangeable. Hope I did not create too much confusion for anyone looking to purchase this mask and corrective lenses.
MIKHAIL K starnge.. i did not have any problems with that... the lenses are symmetrical, each fits both sides
Jason G I don't think it is the type. The issue is not being able to order each side. If you turn the lens around and try to install it on the other side the bevel is facing the wrong way to seal against the frame.
CHARLES M The lenses are not interchangable. You must specify diopter for L and R lenses.
ROBERT B If I recall correctly, both left and right lenses are the exact same shape and are interchangeable.
LELAND J You are correct. I'm actually a -7 in both eyes and have a considerable astigmatism correction to boot. I ordered my -6 mask over the phone and the salesman said for ten bucks they'd install the lenses (the strongest available) and send along the the original tempered glass lenses. The mask worked so-so compared to how my old Sea View Ultra mask with a ten-year-old script was still working, so even though I kept the Cressi mask, I ended up getting a new Sea View mask with the gauge readers along with my new script in the tinted lenses option, and I'm real glad I did. We have a bunch of younger scuba divers in my family, and one of the younger divers will end up putting the original lenses back into the mask and having an extra mask on hand. I'm surprised the LP site didn't have you specify L and R for your mask. I do use interchangeable lenses in their Eagle Aqua-Sphere goggle so I can read my watch as I swim laps in a local pool, but that's a completely different set-up. Good luck with getting the lens you need to make the mask work for your eyesight, but if you have astigmatism correction needs, you may want to send back everything and order a Sea View mask with lenses cut to your script specs. Hope this helped. Lee
ANDREW B Mine are beveled as well, and are thus not interchangeable. Perhaps a non-beveled type are available somewhere.
Anthony D I cannot for the life of me figure out how to replace these lenses on my Focus mask. I snapped out the small plastic piece above the nose and understand that I must now slide up the bridge piece above that. But the piece will not budge -- I've tried my fingernails as well as just about every tool and utensil I have on hand. Please help??
BRUCE E I had a similar problem with a new mask that I bought, I called Leisure Pro and talked to a guy named "Joe" at extension 2319. He patiently and professionally walked me through the process.
Shopper do u get r and l lens?
Jason G As I commented on another sting in this Q&A, you are correct, they are interchangeable. They are symmetrical and therefore, they can be flipped and inserted in either side.
Jason G The L and R are not interchangeable and unfortunately LP does not have a selection to order each side. I ended up ordering a different mask that has designated "L" and "R" sides and will send this one back. I have wasted lots of time and money on what I thought was going to be a cheap way to have a mask with corrective lenses.
Bill P Wrong, they are interchangeable
ANTHONY M No, the price shown is for each lens. You have to order each lens separately.
MICHAEL S You must order a Right and a left lens. (1 each)
Mike
Sergie M Yeah i bought a Right lens and a Left lens because my prescription is different for both. I'm sure they are sold individually.
JULIO H M Yes, you need both.
Thanks.
JHM
MATTHEW S I did get both lens. Sometimes they won't have the exact strength your prescription calls for; ie: you might call for -2.25 and they have -2.00 or -2.50. I just got the closest I could and it makes a great difference. I wear Bi-focal glasses, but for diving I can get by close up so I just get the distance so I can appreciate the underwater environment better.
My wife gets the type for close reading an has a clear upper portion much like a bifocal.
Hope it helped.
RAHUL T the lens design is symmetrical. ie the left and right are interchangeable. from what i understand they are not sold in pairs but singles. so make sure you get 2 lenses
EDWARD B Lenses are interchangeable but you must order a lense for each eye. The price is for a single lense.
Shopper Can you purchase with the mask?
GREG D I ordered the mask and the prescription lenses at the same time. They arrived with the Rx lenses in the mask and the non-Rx lenses in protective packaging. Underwater vision and quality is great and I would strongly reccomend this product.
David R The lenses are sold separate from the mask so you have to buy them separately
PETER V You buy the lenses separately from the mask with uncorrected lenses. Then you snap out the uncorrected lenses and snap in your corrected ones. Note this item is only one lens, you need to order two of them ... also left and right are interchangeable, same lens for either side.
MIKHAIL K I bought Cressi corrective lenses with Focus mask. Replacement of original lenses was easy, just be careful with plastic insertions, bend the rubber and look for stopper under the mask frame. Lenses are symmetrical and fit either eye. New lenses are very foggy. Before the installation burn them a little over the candle flame and clean thoroughly. The mask itself is mediocre. I would not buy it twice.
ROBERT B Prescription lenses are sold separately so that you can order the powers that work for your eyeballs. You must install them yourself, but that only takes a few minutes.
ZACHARY L You have to purchase the lens separately from the mask. Its really simple to switch them out though. And they work great.
JUDY K I've had these since 2007. I believe I ordered them with corrective lenses. They did the install of the lenses and through the old clear lenses in the package in case I ever need to switch back, I guess.
I love this mask. It has improved the quality of my diving experiences 100% by allowing me to NOT mess around with contact lenses in the dive boat.
John L Is it possible to order two lenses in different scripts? I'm a minus 2 in one eye and a minus 2.5 in the other.
David R Yes you can order one -2 and 1 -2.5 for the lenses.
Shopper Will you please help me determine what lenses to purchase based on my script?
OD - Sphere -1.00 Cylinder SPH.
OS- Sphere -1.00 Cylinder -.50 Axis 110
Thanks in Advance!
ZACHARY H It was 2 yrs ago that I bought a Cressi Focus for my 13 year old daughter, so I apologize for not remembering more details. I will say that my daughter was and still is completely satisfied with the mask and the lenses despite the fact that her prescription has changed slightly.
I began by checking with Leisure Pro sales people who told me what strengths the lenses were sold in. Next, I simply took that list to our family optometrist and asked them for their professional advice. He gave me her current prescription, then explained, "These are the strengths you should order because ..." What followed was some medical jargon that I couldn't understand, but I didn't care since he'd already told me what to order. (I still wasted a little time by listening just to be polite.)
I don't feel like I've helped much, but I hope it's helped some.
Kareem M Thanks all for the great feedback, Cecil thats great info... and I appreciate the lesson in latin. And you are absolutley right the primary purpose of this purchase is the see better during night dives, since I dont do well with contacts its the most effective soltution, thanks again!
CECIL B O. S. stands for "oculus sinister", which is Latin for "left eye".
O. D. stands for "oculus dexter", which is Latin for "right eye".
Sph. stands for "spherical lens".
So... -1.00 is the strengh for both your left and right eye and that is the strength that you need in the focus mask corrective lenses. Im not trying to tell you what to do but, Im not really sure you want to spend that kind of money for just a -1.00. That is really not bad at all. My lenses were a -3.5 and -4.5.
I dive with my contacts and havent had any trouble at all with them. I originally got the mask and lenses for emergency only situations. I do like to use the mask with the corrective lenses when I night dive.
Overall, I think the focus is a great mask however changing the lenses is a little tricky. The fine folks at Leisurepro offered to change mine for me but one lens was on backorder at the time so I had to figure it out.
Hope this helps.
DOMINIC D I am assuming you are near sighted and your prescription is not really that strong. It appears that you need lenses that are -1.00 for both eyes. Your left eye may have a slight astigmatism if Ia m reding your prescription correctly. There are a variety of web pages that will explain what the numbers mean i.e. allaboutvision.com. I am not an optometrist so my word is not professional by any means.
NORTHEAST A The corrective lenses are only + or - in 1/2 stops based upon a most basic corrective measure, much like generic reading glasses would be.
If your script is -1.00, then get the -1.0 lenses.
I have a couple of Cressi masks with corrective lenses, for both my wife and I, and they have been a very good matchup based upon the most simplistic element of correction. Our scripts fall into the 1/4 range, so we went with the numbers just slightly under our actual scripts, as directed by my eye doctor, in order to reduce headaches due to the automatic magnification of water to begin with.
I hope this helps.
-Tim
Shopper How do I tell what strength lenses to order based on my glasses prescription?
LeisurePro S From your prescription, add your sphere number to half your cylinder number to determine the diopter. Round down quarter numbers to the nearest half diopter. The natural magnification of water will make up for the difference.
Shopper Are the right and left lenses the same?
LELAND J The lenses that come with the mask are flat and made from tempered glass, and those are interchangeable. Corrective lenses sold as an option for the mask have a standard bevel cut on the inner side of the plastic lens, and those are not interchangeable.
LeisurePro S Yes, these fit either side of the mask.
Shopper Are these a pair of lenses or just one?
LeisurePro S This is just for one lens, so you can order two different diopters for different eyes.
Shopper Why Did You Choose This?
ANTHONY M Great price for corrected lenses. They fit in the Cressi Focus Mask perfectly.
