David C 1. I heard some airlines consider this bag "oversized," which can incur an additional charge even if it's under the weight limit. Is that true?
2. Are there fin pockets on both sides, or just the one side shown in the picture? Are the pockets big enough for my Tusa Tri-Ex fins? (Oddly, the fin pocket on my current Tusa roller bag is too small for my fins)
ADRIANA S Never have problems with airline considering it oversized. As it can hold lots of stuffs, you need to be careful in not getting over the weight limit.
There are fin pockets in both sides. I'm not familiar with your fins, but my mares advantage fins fit just fine. My free dive Omer fins don't.
GARY S I have traveled twice with this bag from west coast USA to Caribbean without any size issues. There are fin pockets on each side of the bag. I have the Volo Race fins ( size 11 mens foot) which have a significant blade length. They fit into the fin pockets easily.
This bag has tons of storage room on the main compartment which makes it very versatile to carry other items in "addition to " dive gear. I have a large wooden statue packed in it under the plane at this very moment. The craftsmanship of this bag is great and I absolutely love it . I highly recommend for a frequent traveler.
One more thing, the back straps that turn this bag into a "back pack" are a real bonus; the bag stays well balanced on your back and makes beach and dock loading easy. Cheers!

JOHN C Yes the airlines consider this an oversized bag even if its under wieght. I have gotten them to not charge me by being a little forceful with my complaint but they have all said its over size.
Fin pockets are plenty big enough for any fin.
MIREILLE N 1. I never had issues traveling with this bag using different airlines like United and Continental.
2. The fin pockets are on both sides, but I'm not able to answer your question of whether your fins fit into them.
In general, I'm very happy with this bag. It has a good design and it's very stable.
KATHY C I have flown Southwest and Delta with this bag (checked) and another large suitcase. No issues of being over-sized. While Delta charges a per bag fee, Southwest doesn't. The bag has ample fin pockets on both sides. I have Tusa "split fins"...not sure what the Tri-Ex fins are (I've had my fins since '09). I especially like the outer pockets as I can pack clothes, etc. for a couple of days and they stay dry. Also have packed a lunch in the top pocket with an ice pack and it's insulated enough to stay cold. Honestly, I love this bag!
LARRY D Both my wife and I have the Moby 5 and it's a great bag. Never have I been charged for it as oversized. There are fin pockets on both sides; each large enough to hold a pair of fins...dive and snorkel. The biggest issue with the bag is that it is sooo big you can easily overload it, so have a scale handy. We have Cressi Travel Lite BCs and with the reduced weight are now able to pack an entire week's gear into one bag with the balance for carry on. Saves on the bag fees and the hassel of multiple bags. Enjoy!
RUTH H This bag is very large and easily fits all of my cold water gear. I haven't used it for airline travel but it would be considered oversized if the standard linear dimension of 62" (L+W+H) is used . There are fin pockets on each side which fit my scuba pro twin jet max fins.
MICHAEL H Yes there are fin pockets on both sides. No idea if they will fit your style fin, the pockets are narrow. I fly southwest allot and never had a problem with size.
DAVID B i went to barbados in november and didn't have any problems with bagage restrictions. there are fin pockets on both sides, they are big enough to hold my tusa x-pert zoom fins with room to spare. i'm real happy with this bag
DONALD G I can't answer your question about excessive baggage, as I have not had this bag on an airline. However, my previous bag was of similar size and I had no problems.
This bag has a fin pocket on each side of the luggage. I usually use a pair of Oceanic V-16s with spring straps and there is room to spare.

I have not had Delta or Continental consider this bag oversized - actually had Continental allow it to be over 50 lb. since it was a dive bag. There is a pocket on both sides and they fit my Aeris Velocity XPs that are about 25 inches long and still have room to shove a tennis shoe into the foot pocket for travel.
My only complaint with this bag is that the Wheel attach on one of the bags (I bought 2 bags) broke loose and I had to ziptie it to complete one of our trips. When I got home, I added several rivets to the wheel assemblies and the rub bar on the bottom of the bag just to make sure they would not ever come loose. I'm not sure any bag is completely airline proof so I was not really surprised. We have taken these bags on 4 trips and have another planned this May. I expect them to hold up for some time and am generally pleased with them.
WAYNE W 1. Not true on Singapore, Continental, Garuda. I can't speak for others. But the bag is so large that it is easy to pass the weight limit.
2. Both sides. Width is 25 cm and the fabric can deform for a few more cm. I put my fins, boots, gloves, water shoes, hiking boots and more in each side.
3. You didn't ask but my complaint is that on the first trip, four of the eight rivets that hold the wheels in place all popped off. I can patch them, but you might want to look for another bag that is more sturdy.
JEFFREY R 1. I've never had issues with them considering it oversized. I have flown Delta and US Air with it. My biggest issue is going overweight because it can hold so much gear it easily can go over 50 pounds.
2. It has pockets on both sides. I put 1 fin in each side on mine. I use Tusa Zoom open heel fins myself so they are a little bulky for the booties but not too long.
David C Good to know, Jeffrey. Delta and Useless Air are my primary carriers.
JOHN D 1. I've flown to Malaysia and Hawaii and neither airline had an extra charge since it was not overweight. Your mileage may vary.
2. There are fin pockets on either side. I don't have the same fins, but mine fit very easily.
WILLIAM R David, never had a problem with oversize but it is easy to get over weight with it due to its size. Fin pockets are on both sides but not sure as to the size of your fins. the average dive fin should fit but I doubt a" free dive fin" would fit. Hope this helps.
DAVID N I have taken the Cressi Bag on multiple trips, USair,American, and Jet Blue and was never charged an oversize charge. Has two pockets for fins which fit around 24" in length. They do not fit fins such as mares quattro power without bending them. Not sure of the length of the Tusa Tri-Ex. My other bag is the Mares, it does fit longer fins and is a bit more rugged. (Dive exp. 600-700 dives multiple live aboard as well as land based trips.)

RAMY A 1) According to Leisure pro, the dimensions are: 30 x 15 x 11 inches. You should check with your airlines to see if this meets normal baggage dimensions. From personal experience it has not been a problem on either domestic or international flights. The bag itself weighs a lot, so the weight limit is more of a constraint.
2) Fin pocket on each side of the bag = two fin pockets. I can't speak to the Tusa fins, but the pockets are wide and fairly long enough. Not deep enough to put two fins in comfortably. Extra room when only one fin is in each pocket.
David C Thanks, RAMY. I'll check airline regulations on the size issue. If it's truly 10.7 lbs as LP says, it's still a bit lighter than my Tusa bag.
