Comments about Casio GW5600J-1 Black Digital Multi-Band 2 G-Shock Watch:

Almost a perfect G-Shock except for a couple of minor and one major problem. (1) The day/date are not shown together as in other 5600 model G-Shocks. Why? (2) The recessed buttons on my particular watch are especially recessed and at times hard to push. (3) The biggest disappointment is that the alarm beep is not very loud. It is hard to hear unless in a very quiet environment. Timex alarms are much louder and more useful. On the positive side, the band is much more comfortable on this model than on the least expensive 5600 models. Even though it may look the same, it is a thicker/softer rubber material. Overall my favorite type of G-Shock as it is much smaller and thinner on the wrist than a lot of the current G-Shocks. It won't overwhelm the wrist of the average person and could even be worn under a long sleeve shirt and jacket. I think the watch says "I'm a practical person who doesn't need a Rolex or James Bonds Omega to stroke my ego, even though I could afford it." However if it makes you feel better, I understand that the 5600 model has been certified by NASA to be worn by astronauts for space flight. I saw one on display (along with the Omega Speedmaster) at the space flight museum near the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

I use this watch primarily when I do yard work or when I engage in activities that would damage my other watches. I really appreciate the radio controlled timekeeping feature that keeps the watch accurate at all times. I didn't give it a "five" only because it is not as stylish as my Casio GW800-1V. It does, however, serve the purpose for which I purchased it.

This is a great watch for the price. It is accurate, durable, and looks pretty cool. I wear it kayaking, surfing, and spearfishing, and it has performed flawlessly. And to address the review saying the band is too large, the extra band length is great when you are diving. I wear a 5mm suit and 3mm gloves, and have plenty of band to wrap all the way around them. I definitely recommend this watch for anyone who wants a good tough and dependable watch that wont break the bank.

I like the simplicity of this watch. It sincs with the atomic clock in Fort Collins every night without fail. A few hours in the sun keeps the battery charge in "high". Very rugged and dependable. I don't have to worry about knocking this watch around with the 200 meter water resistance and G-shock capability. Definitely worth the money.
