Questions about this item:
bob S I am 6"1" and weigh 165 lbs. Should I order a large or XL?
CLAYTON L You probably want a large. I am 5'11" and about 215lbs with a 36" waist. I have a large and it fits me just fine with a little room left in the extremities (length-wise).
JOHN R I bought an XL for my son, who is 6.0' and about 185#. It fits him and is comfortable but does is not snug around the neck or wrists and is a bit long. He could probably have used a L for a good snug fit.
Shopper I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
GABRIELA L Hi everyone ;)
This mssg is especially for women, since the sizing may be a little bit tricky for us,girls. Soooo... Just got my "skin" today. It was my second one I ordered. The first one which I ordered in Small was waaayyy too small (and am in process of returning it). The Medium is just perrfect. Here is some info abt me. I am liitle bit over 5'4" (164cm) 127Lb and curvy OR as you Americans say: an hour glass shape, lol. I even asked David from LeisurePro what size to go with,I was sure small should be OK and so thought he,but nope. Especially if you have athletic legs, forget abt it! You won't be even able to pull it all the way to your butt. So if you are not sure abt the size, the bigger would probably be better. The "skin" is elastic but just to certain extend where it just doesn't stretch at all.
Thankfully Leisure Pro sent me the larger one I ordered right away at no charge. As always, their customer care is the best ;)
And so I am so happy with this purchase, cuz I won't be needing another 7 people around me just to help me with my semi dry on. It still took us for EVER,lol... With the "skin" I had my suit on in less than a minute. I promise :) Probably the best purchase EVEEERRRR ;) :)
Hope it helps ;)
Gabriela
DEBORAH J Hi,
I picked it both for size, color and price. I used it for diving as a layer and for snorkeling for sun protection. In fact, I wore it out and bought another one.
DAVID H I'd dealt with Henderson products before, so I was confident the quality would be good. That, plus, I believe LeisurePro had them on sale just when I was looking for a replacement for my poor tired, shredded "skinny" from 1997. It was pretty much a no-brainer to me: grab it!
HEATHER G I picked this for several reasons. 1.) The price was excellent. 2.) The fit was pretty good. 3.) I'm 5'9" and weigh about 130 lbs. The difficulty that I have is most items are too short on my legs and arms. If I go to a larger size, it is too baggy and loose in the chest, abdomen, and hip areas. 4.) I'm sensitive to whatever they use to make wetsuits and this provided an extra layer between my skin and the wetsuit.
I hope this helps. And LeisurePro has a pretty good return policy as well. I think I bought 2 or 3 and returned the ones that didn't fit.
JIM W this skin fits pretty true to size and holds up really well. I have owned two of them. The first one I literally wore it out and the one I have now I have had for a few years and it is still going strong.
ADAM P It was cheap. I am happy with it, though. Slipping into a dry wetsuit isn't much easier, but putting on a damp wetsuit? Wow. So much easier. Worth it.
SUE M Picked it for price BUT RUNS EXTREMELY SMALL! All three I bought for my family barely fit. They were all long enough, but were very tight. Not enough stretch....
Shopper I'm about 5'6" and weigh 225. Yep, short and stocky. Should I order XL or 2X? I wear an XL 3/2 wetsuit,
CHRIS L True, no exposure value but rash gard and sun protection is my primary use for these.
CHRIS L These are faiy stretchy. I am 5'11 and 230 and an XL fits me fine. Enjoy, these are great products
LEO V I would go with the 2X as lycra runs tight
CLAYTON L I think probably an XL. When I got my suit I was 5'11" and 230lbs and I ordered a large. You may have to get the arms & legs adjusted.
HAROLD M they stretch in all directions---the XL may have too much material for your height---you might consider the L---you can buy both and return one---I do that when not sure.
Hope this helps
Harold
RON G The skin has no extra warmth value, I use it to protect me from the sun when snorkeling, and when diving your wetsuit will go on alot easyer. I would order the same size as your wetsuit.
Joseph J I'm 6'3" and 180lbs. I'm thinking the XL would be a good fit but the size chart says i should get a 3XL for my height. Also, is this sit easy to run in? I'm running a 24hr event(Tough Mudder Championships) next month and i need something to dry out quickly and keep me somewhat warm while not restricting my movement over time. Thanks for any advice
CHARLES Q Very easy to run in I would imagine. It does dry quickly. The stirrups help quite a bit. I'm 6-5, 280 lbs and bought a 3XL, fit's just perfect, no complaints there. Keep in mind this is only 0.5mm thick, so not a lot of warmth is provided if you're not moving. Not sure how must rest is involved with the Tough Mudder, can't imagine a whole lot. My nephew is also running it, good luck to both of you.
CURTIS O I've never used the suit to run in and I can't offer any insight into what size would fit you. I am not sure how much warmth it will offer either since it is a very thin material. I don't think it dries out particularly quickly but that would depend on the conditions.
DEAN R My wife uses the Lycra suit as an undergarment for her wetsuit. She reports that it is very comfortable and dries quickly. The suit might offer
slight protection in a light breeze but is not designed for thermal protection. When wet it is much colder! My wife is very small so I cannot comment on te size in this case but I have found that Leisure Pro's
return or exchange policies are excellent.
Chris G I'm about 5'4" and 133lbs. Should I get a small? I see a lot of people saying it runs small, but I do wear a small Henderson wetsuit.
MAUREEN S It does run small. I would go with a medium.
Chris G Thanks. Already ordered last night, though. So, too late.
JAMES V Three of us in our family use Henderson skin suits - we love them but they all run small. We all are using a size larger than normal.
Chris G Oh no! Split decision. Guess I'll find out after the small arrives. Good thing LP is pretty good with returns.
JENNIFER L I am the same height and weight as you and bought a small, which fits great!
It is very comfortable.
KENT K They seem to run similar to the wet suits. I got a medium and I am 5'7"" 155#. So I think small would work. When I was 15 lighter I would fit in a small.
Chris G Thanks! That's what I figured.
Pam H I want to purchase a wetsuit so I can swim in my pool all year. I swim for exercise. I live in San Antonio, so it doesn't get too cold in the winter -- maybe 40 degrees. Would this Neo Sport suit do the trick? If not, what would you recommend?
WILLIAM H For swimming in winter, this suit will not be sufficient for your area. Assuming a water temp of even 55 degrees, hypothermia becomes a real concern after 30-45 minutes. A much better choice would be a 5 to 7 mm wetsuit with hood, boots, etc. or even better, a dry suit. Having said all that, I bought this dive skin for my wife to use in Grand Cayman in December. My wife is a tiny, skinny (oops, I meant petite) little thing. On her first dives in the Caymans in December, wearing a 3mm shorty wetsuit and the Henderson skin underneath, she came up cyanotic (lips were blue) very confused and classicly hypothermic. She did much better with a full 5mm wetsuit over the dive skin, but still required careful observation to avoid prolonged exposure. So the bottom line is realistic assesment of your own body type and amount of natural insulation (i.e., fat) that you carry. Then measure the water temperature-anything under 60 degrees is darned cold to this confirmed southerner! See if you can rent a wetsuit from a local dive shop to determine how well it works. When you have found what you like, Leisure Pro has the absolute best prices and selection of any site on the web, and excellent service after the sale. My only regret is that I lost every bit of my and my wife's dive gear in a house fire in 2010, so it will be awhile before we can reaccumulate enough to get in the water. When we buy, it will all come from Leisure Pro, I can assure you! I hope this helps you choose!
RONALD F The Lycra Skin Suit, like any other lycra product, provides absolutely NO thermal protection. I use it for environmental protection (from coral, jellyfish, etc underwater and from sun when snorkeling) and to make donning my real wetsuit easier. If you are looking for thermal protection, you have to use neoprene, as it is the trapped air in the neoprene bubbles that insulates your body. The thinner the neoprene, the more flexible it will be, but the less insulation it will provide. You'll have to strike a balance between movement and warmth, but I suspect a 2-3 mm wetsuit would work.
Remember that most of your body heat is lost from your head, so a neoprene beanie or hood would go a long way to providing extra warmth while swimming or diving.
Hope this helps.
JEFFREY W This suit is only good for water temps to around 70 degrees. I wear it for protection when diving in warm water. Not a wetsuit.
LINDA M Pam, I use mine for scuba diving in tropical waters (usually no cooler than about 76F.) I am overweight, so I generate quite a bit of heat while exercising, but I have always been quite comfortable. The skin is like a very stretchy, heavyweight pair of tights. Although it would be comfortable for swimming, I'm afraid it might not be quite warm enough at 40F, unless you generate a LOT of heat while swimming! On the plus side, it shows very little signs of wear, even after 50 or more dives! I absolutely love it! Linda
LEONARD P The lycra skin provides hardly any warmth. I bought mine to put under my 7mm wetsuit to make it easier to get on and off. If the air temp is 40 degrees and the pool isnt heated, you would need at least a 6mm suit to stay warm, but that is with 40 degree water. Figure it this way with the water temp: 75 degrees and up= lycra 68 to 74 degrees = 3mm wetsuit below 68 degree water temp = 6 mm wetsuit or better. By the way I dive the cold water of the northeast so I speak from experience.
Good luck
Len
Rosie S what is the weight of the Henderson Neo Sport lycra?
STERLING L I don't know the numbers, but it's about the weight of two T-shirts.
DAVID H If you mean "weight" as in "how much does it weigh", I really don't know. It's very light, no more than a pound or two. It certainly has no discernable effect on buoyancy.
If you mean "weight" as in "how much insulation does it provide", the answer is absolutely none whatsoever.
Think of them sort of like pantyhose that fit over the entire body and you'll get a pretty good idea of all their physical characteristics. Hope it helped.
SUE M Very thin Lycra. Also, I ordered two different sizes for my husband and me. Both ran true to length but were a very, very tight fit. My recommendation - go with a different brand.
RAJMUND S I don't know exactly but is very light.
Shopper How thin is the lycra? I don't want to buy it if it is too thick.
ROBERT I It's just like it says, lycra. No other insulation to it. It's just a stretchy body suit similar to what you'd expect from a pair of lycra tights. Gives you some protection from the sun and incidental contact beyond bare skin, but really has no significant insulating properties.
MICHAEL S It's thin. Like a rash guard. Not even a 0.5.
MICHAEL G It is super thin, barely keeping the itchy and stingy stuff from itching and stinging (salt water). It does help with sunburn. Mike G
BURTON O Hi
Its very thin for an exposure suit. Very comfortable.
MICHAEL G It is very thin. It provides a thin barrier only preventing things that sting and itch from being as severe as they otherwise would (saltwater). It also acts as sunburn protection.
Mike
DEAN R Actually my wife uses this suit under her wet suit. The skin makes donning the wet suit much easier. The skin is not thick and could be used as light exposure protection. My wife is very satisfied. LeisurePro has been very good at exchanges or returns.
PHILIP N Very thin, similar to polypropylene underwear. Basically no thickness under a suit.
CHARLES Q It is 0.5mm thick. So really I should say 1/2 mm thin! It's like wearing a T-shirt.
MARK G Hi
Its really thin, thinner than a lycra sun shirt. I use it under my wetsuits to ensure I can slide the suit on and off easily. Good luck
MAUREEN H It is basically like a bathing suit, but to me feels softer. It may actually be thinner than the bathing suits I have. I really only use it for sun protection. It isn't meant to keep you warm in colder water. I use it in tropical, 80+ degree water. It is very comfortable, and I like the front zipper.
Shopper size chart?
MARY J Order one to two sizes larger as they run small. Using it now and love the skins.
RICHARD S The size chart is very accurate My suit fitts perfectly
MARSHALL D I am a fraction under six feet and weigh 180 pounds. This is the third one that I have bought. I find that large is the best fit for me.
ERIC S You definitely need to order a size up. They are a little small, not much, but a larger size than you normally way is definitely recommended. I got what I normally wear, and wish I had ordered a size up. It fits, just a little more snug that I normally like.
ANN H Women's medium fits long-legged 5'9" 135 pounds.
Shopper I'm female, 5'4", 135lbs, what size would fit well? I'm planning to wear it for sun protection (i.e. not under a wet suit), so I'm looking for a loose fit, not too snug.
RONI K I'm male 5'8" 145lb, medium fits very well.
SHAHNAZ S I would go with the medium.
CHRIS H it is a very loose fit
Shopper I'm 6'4", weigh 180 lbs, and wear 33x34 pants. What size would be the best fit?
JOHN C I bought the skin about 3 years ago, so this from memory.
I got a 2XL and I'm about 6 foot, 250 lbs. It fits me OK.
THey are a little stretchy, but all that much.
For you i would guess an Large., but that might be a little short in the sleeves and legs.
JIM W I am also 6'4" but I weigh 250. the xxl was perfect for me so I would think that you would do well with the xl. The lrg might be a little short for you.
Shopper Side XS or S if I'm 115 lbs and 5'7? Does the dive skin protect against sea lice/seabather's eruption and Swimmer's itch?
CHARLOTTE D The S would probably fit better. The suit is tight in the chest area because it is unisex fit. I used it in July in Florida and it seem to protect against sea lice (which is common near jelly fish)
JOHN P I found the sizing to run small on this item. I went with two sizes larger than My t-shirt size.
I wear a XL t-shirt and had to go up to a 3X skin to get the desired fit. I'm 6' 2" and 230 #"s.
This skin will only protect from minor abrasions and will provide SPF 50
from the sun.
I hope this helps, John Porter
'
Kevin K How many mm thick is this suit? 3mm? 5mm?
ROGER T it's no mm thick, it's just a skin that you wear under your wet suit. Adds a bit of warmth and comfort, esp. when putting on a wet, wet suit.
DAN C It's less than 1MM.
I use my skin under my wetsuit.
It makes it much easier to get in and out of.
JOHN D It's about .05mm think about the same as a rash guard that covers the whole body, Works great when diving arm waters were you dont want to wear a 3mm or higher. Helps protect you from any jellyfish stings.
Kevin K Thank you, everyone has been helpful and given us plenty of good information on the topic.
BURTON O It's a "skin" it is maybe 0.5 mm thick. Not really meant for warmth - it makes getting your wetsuit on easier or makes a great snorkel or warm water dive suit.
PAUL D This is a skin, the thickness is just like your swim suit.
Hope this helps,
MARK G Hi Kevin;
Its not a wet suit. Its very thin, similar to a sun shirt you would war to the beach. I used it as a layer between my body and my wetsuit so that my wet suit is easier to get on an off without tearing the lining.
Kevin K Thanks Robert, Jerry, Michael, and Kevin. That would have been a GREAT price for a neoprene suit! haha
KEVIN K This is NOT neoprene, it is lycra / spandex like women's tights, it is very thin. Use this as a brush guard, or sun blocker while topside. I like mine, have used it on several trips and still looks good. I wear this under my wetsuit for added warmth, and ease of donning and doffing the wetsuit.
MICHAEL S No more than 0.5mm. It's basically a full sized rash guard.
JERRY K This is a "skin", not a thermal protection. It's 0.01 mm thick.
ROBERT I This is just a Lycra suit, no neoprene. The biggest advantage is no exposed skin (helps topside to reduce sun exposure as well). There's a little bit of warmth, but not much. I like mine. Very comfortable and stretchy.
Shopper Some have said it runs small. What size is recommended for a 6' man 50in chest 36in waist with long arms?
ERIC S With your chest size, I would recommend a 2XL, you're waist would be fine in a 1XL, but you'll need the extra room in the chest. I love mine, my only wish was that I order a size up than I normally do, as it's a bit snug.
DOUGLAS C I'm 5'9" and a large fits perfectly.
J F G I am 5'11" 52 in chest and had no problems and a good fit with the 3xl size.
KEVIN Z Yes it does run about a size smaller but is an amazing liner and makes getting into and out of a wetsuit easy.
MARC M I am of similar build, and I had to get a XXL.
Zacch Z I'm 145 lbs standing at 6 feet, waist size of 31". What size should i get?
CHARLES C They tend to run large. I got a large and it is way too big. So I would recommend medium.
Shopper Im 6'4" and weigh 235, wear a 36 in jeans. What size should I get?
MARSHALL D I think I would go with an XL. They run a little large. I an 6' 180 lbs and I have a large. The first one I bought was an XL and it is a little loose. I have a 35' inseam.
DAVID E Given your height i would say to go for the XXL, I myself am 5'11" 230 and the XL is a little snug. I don't think there is enough stretch left in the legs for your height.
MICHAEL S I'd say either XL or XXL. I'm 5'11' and 240 and I wear the XXL.
ANN H I doubt if this will help-- I'm 5'9" and weigh 135, and I think I got a women's medium! But you asked...
Shopper size 14 lady; 5'1 190 lbs. What size should we get for her?
DAVID H I am a 6'0", 215 lb. man with a 48" chest and 38" waist. My thighs are 24" around. The X-large I bought is perfectly fine for me.
My wife is 5'7", 180 lb; wears a 44-D. It fits her very well, too.
Since we're talking about a lycra suit, it isn't going to fit baggy anywhere there is surplus material. The overall appearance should be smooth and taut; not looking like a balloon about to bust. I'd go with the X-large.
Shopper Would this suit work for a woman 5 ft 2 in?
GEORGE G Yes it would. My wife is about 5'4" and the suit stretches to fit her. I'm sure that it would fit you.
CHARLOTTE D This suit will fit length wise, but it is tight across chest for a woman (C cup). I usually wear mine with zipper partly open.
CHARLES C I'm 5 ft 10 and it is too big for me. I would suggest a much smaller size. They seem to run big.
WILLIAM S I'm a 5 foot 5in male and it fits fine. Should only be a little long and is stretchy enough fo handle the shape differences
ROBERT W I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't. I am a 6 ft 2in guy who bought one in 2007 and the this skin is still in great shape. It gets used a lot here in coastal NC and works great with either a shorty or under 3/5 wetsuit. I'll be getting another one if this one ever wears out.
AURORA W Yes I am 5 ' 2" and it works fine.
EUGENE P It worked well for my wife who bought size S. She is about 5'7" and 120-125 lbs. To give you a hard number, the unstretched leg length (to the floor on the inside) on that suit is 28.5" and it should stretch somewhat to fit well. Its total unstretched length is about 52". So you can make your own measurements and decide.
SUSAN G Yes it would fit... But this is my experience: I dove with it under a 5mm wetsuit for 8 days with 2-4 dives a day. By the end, I had several snags and a few rips in it. The other downfall was the front zipper under the wetsuit, It would push on my sternum or I would have to leave it 1/2 way unzipped. I probably wouldn't recommend this for under a wetsuit Iike I was recommened for added warmth.
BERNARD R The suit was for my wife who is 5' 2.5" and weighs 118 lbs. It fits her well and she is pleased with the product.
David F Male 6'0" and weigh 210 lbs which size should i get?
JAMES S Go with the correct height, it stretches well, you should be looking at the XXL or the 3XL. XXL should be fine.
PHILIP N I am nearly the same size and I wear this in a XXL and it fits fine.
JERRY K HI,
I bought last year Large size. I'm 5'-10" and 190 lb. It's OK and I like it.
You should go for at least XL. Hope it helps. Good luck. Jerry
GEORGE F I am 6'0" and 220 and got the 2x size. I also think it would be good for you.
Shopper i AM 5'7" AND 125LBS. I workout so I am slim for my weight (25 inch waist). What size should I buy?
MEREDITH S Hi, Sizing is tricky. I am 5'2" and 120 pounds ... but my waist is 27 and hips 36. I have a size small hendersen lycra skin and it's a little tight in the middle (which is where my excess weight is) but wearable. My best guess is that you are a small ... but it depends on how your weight is distributed.
VERONICA H I am 5'3" weighing 100 lbs and wear an XS. My boyfriend is 5'11" weight almost 160 and he wears the large. Based on that, my best guess is that a medium would work for you.
Good luck. It's a nice skin for the money and we both always wear ours under our wet suits.
MARSHALL D I don't remember if I answered your question in my previous remarkls.
I recommend that you buy a small.
I am 5'11" 180lbs and a xl was too long and wide. I now buy large.
MARSHALL D I would try a small. I have bought three of these. I am 5'11", 180 lbs broad shoulders, and at first I bought a xl large. If was rather loose. I next tried a large and it is a much better fit.
I am still trying to wear out the first one.
I hope this helps.
Brett H I would suggest a size Lg in this suit.
Shopper I am 5' tall and weigh 98lbs. Which size would fit me?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the xsmall.
Shopper What size should I get? I'm 5'6" and weight 118 lbs.
LeisurePro S I would recommend a small.
Shopper I'm 6'2 and weigh 280--what would be my size?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a 3xl.
Shopper I'm 6''3' and weigh 260, what would be the best size? My wife is 5''6 and weighs 200, what should she buy?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a 3XL for yourself and an XL for your wife.
Shopper For a 12 year old, 5'5" and 95lbs. What size should I order?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a small.
Shopper Would this suit be good to use under a 7mm wetsuit to make it easier to get on? I'm 6ft 170lbs--what size should I order?
LeisurePro S This certainly should make your 7mm easier to get on. I would recommend the large.
Shopper I am 5'10 and 195 lbs. Which size should I get L or XL?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the XL.
Shopper I am 5"3" and weigh approximately 120 lb. What size would you recommend?
LeisurePro S I would recommend a small.
Shopper I am 5'9" broad shoulders, 200 lbs. Which size suit would you recommend?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the XL.
Shopper I?m 5"6" and 174 lbs. Should I get a Large or Medium?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the Large.
Shopper I'm 6'0" and 179lbs. would i get a llarge or an extra large?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the XLarge.
Shopper how thick is this skinsuit? can it be used alone, just as a wetsuit?
LeisurePro S This suit is a Lycra skin suit with a thickness of appx .2mm. It is good protection against scraps, stings and the sun but won't offer much warmth like a wetsuit. It CAN be worn alone, however; it would be like wearing a t-shirt.
Shopper Hi, I am 6'46" and weigh 154 lbs. Which size should I get? thanks
LeisurePro S I would recommend the large.
Shopper Hi, I kow that it does not have warmth, but i need to know what exactly its thickness? Does it protect from stings? What is the OZ for it? Does it have a UV protection? and what it the SPF?
LeisurePro S These are around .5mm in thickness and protect against stings. It's UV protection is close to 100%, like wearing a shirt.
Shopper What size should I order? I am 5'2" and weigh 140 lbs.
LeisurePro S The medium will probably be the best choice for you.
Shopper Does this suit need something special to wash it to keep it from smelling? Thanks
LeisurePro S There are a few products under the 'Accessories' tab that will work really well against the smell that may invade your suit. The wetsuit shampoo, along with proper drying and storage, will help prevent smell while the "sink the stink" product will help get rid of pre-existing smell.
Shopper I am 5'04" and weigh 200 lbs. Which size should I purchase?
LeisurePro S I would go with XL, keeping in mind it probably will be long in your arms and legs. Unfortunately, we don't carry any Lycra suits that come in XL short or other sizes like that. That being said, you can roll Lycra or stretch it over other materials fairly easily and comfortably.
Shopper would you recomend this sut for cold temps
LeisurePro S This suit will have no thermal value alone
Shopper I am 5'7 and 155 lbs. Shoudl I get a M or a L?
Shopper I am 5'83/4 and weigh 206 pounds what size should i get
Shopper I am 5'1 and 125 lbs. Which size should I order? Thank you.
Shopper I'm 5 ft 1/2 in. and 91 lbs and i want a skintight fit for now until the end of the summer. which size should i get?
Shopper I swim in a outdoor pool in nyc end of May and it is still cold, would this wetsuit work for me?
LeisurePro S Lycra suit has no warmth, it just protects the skin from stinks and sun rays. You should get at least a 3mm wetsuit
Shopper Hi. I am 5'4'' and 135 pounds. What size should I buy for this swimsuit? Also, can I use this product ( Blue Reef Royal Lycra Skin Suit) for casual swimming in a swimming pool?
LeisurePro S Since you are in-between sizes I would suggest going with small. Yes its good for the pool
Shopper What is the thickness on this wetsuit?
LeisurePro S Lycra suit has no warmth, it just protects the skin from stinks and sun rays
