Shopper Is it easy to use with gloves? what kind of case can i use for this? why do you recomend folding knife?

GARY H It is easy to use with gloves. I tiie a larger object on to the end of the lanyard to make it easier to pull out of my BC pocket. No case is needed if you have a pocket for it to go into. The blade, even when folded into the handle, does have asharp point to it at the "hook" portion of the edge so you can get cut on it. Putting it into something would help in handling. I like this light, sharp, corrosion proof knife that fits into my OMS BC knife pocket.
CHRIS J Because it folds, I have it tucked in a pocket. I have been able to unfold it using 5 mm gloves. I prefer keeping a knife in with other things in a pocket rather than having to have a separate strap-on sheath, because for me it's there just in case I get entangled in fishing line. Never had to use it in 200 dives, but I like having it just in case.
CHARLES W a I don't dive with gloves so I can't really answer your question. I would think that it would not be a problem, though, as it is much like a a folding hunting knife.
b If by case you mean scabbard, I purchased a nylon scabbard with velcro closure at a local knife show and I sewed it to my BC.
c. I personally prefer a folder because of it's compactness. If you don't have a scabbard then you can just carry it in a bc pocket. In the areas where I typically dive a knive is usually not needed but I like having one "just in case."
d. Regarding the knife itself- My wife and I both carry one of these. They arrive very sharp and the titanium offers excellent corrosion resistance. I used to carry a stainless knife but it began to rust very quickly. The Blue Reef knife is excellent for its price range.
CARLOS J It's perfectly usable with gloves, and since it's foldable, there is no reason to have a case, in fact it has a clip on the side so you can slide into any part of the BC to hold its place. Why a folding knife??? Because in the four years since I've had it, I've used it only once, and that was to cut some fishing line that had snagged in my buddy's first stage, and I didn't even open it, I used the line cutting tool on top of the blade...keep it simple down there, the less ornaments you take, the easier it is.
JIM A We live in Grand Cayman, so we have warm water all of the time. As well, we seldom use gloves. However, I do a considerable amount of Spear Fishing in Fla. where we do use gloves. I have several knives, one on cumberbun, one on my inflater hose, and some time on my left leg. I keep the Folding knife on a "high Force Retractor with Carabineer. I find myself using the Folding knife most of the time because is the easiest to get to and it is extremely sharp. Leisure Pro has two "retractors" for about $23.. I keep the retractor on my left side, since I am right handed so the knife is extremely easy to reach. The knife is extremely sharp so you must be very careful when using it. After I brought the folding knife to Grand Cayman, all of my dive buddies had to have one. It is a bargin! Good Luck!
CRAIG I I had no trouble unfolding the knife wearing gloves. I kept the folded knife in a storage area on my bc. The folding knife is easier and safer to store. Unfortunately, someone stole the knife during a diving trip to Grenada. Guard your equipment carefully.
STEFAN W I do not use this with gloves; but, as long as the gloves are not too thick, it should be do-able with this knife. The folding/unfolding/locking mechanism is pretty good. Gloves not allowed on Bonaire :-)
I'm afraid I did not use this with any kind of case either. I just put it into a BC pocket. I secured it to a flap inside the BC pocket via the included plastic clip.
I prefer a folding model because I use my knife so infrequently that I want to be able to put it away and forget about it... until I need it. I don't want to have a fixed blade/sheath knife strapped to my leg or whatever. I have done over 250 dives and I've used a knife maybe twice?
Some people use their knives more often. If so, then I understand wanting a setup that is more accessible. But not me. I want something I can know is there for an emergency but otherwise is completely out of my way.
Otherwise I like this knife because the serrated blade is incredibly sharp and good at cutting rope/line. It is titanium so it will be extremely corrosion resistance even after prolonged exposure to salt water. It is quite light. The folding mechanism feels good. The price is reasonable. The one thing I am not happy with is the point of the cut-out at the top of the blade near the sharp end. It is pretty sharp and exposed even when the knife is closed. I have knicked myself on it a few times accidentally.
STEPHANIE V It is not a problem opening and closing the knife with gloves. It is very easy to clean the knife just by rinsing but I recommend opening it to rinse and dry it. I recommend the folding knife because you can clip it directly on your BC and even put it on a clip for easy on and off. Using a knife in a sheath on your leg can be lost if the knife is not put back in the sheath properly and you will not notice it floating away from you off of your leg. This is why I switched to the folding knife because I lost 2 knives from the sheaths not being placed back in the sheaths properly.
OSCAR T As a backup knife is great, a little bit hard to use with gloves but not impossible. But is a great knife i have it for a few years now i used it even for other things than just diving and is still very sharp.
