Questions about this item:
Shopper Which dive alert device would fit on this octo?
PAUL D None, that I have found so far. I have a alert device that takes the standard BC quick disconnect fitting...Unfortunatley my air horn device will not fit this octo/infaltor fitting. In fact I have seen a few other vendors that also use the Blue Reef style connector. Good luck!
BRIAN A any alert devise that fits a scuba pro air 2 bcd inflator
Shopper will it fit on aeris ex100?
JUAN F The hose is standard so it will fit all first stages.
SAMUEL R I do not know. I installed my Octo + inflator on a Sherwood Axis.
JEFF A I'm not familiar with the aeris ex100. It fits standard 1" inflator hoses which is what most manufacturers use. I'm quire pleased with the unit.
CESAR G I got this octo for my son's EX-300. It works ok; however, I had to replace the complete BC power inflator assembly, including the hose that connects the BC to the octo (note that the regulator hose is provided with the octo, but not the BC to octo hose). The reason for this additional step is because the original ex-300 BC-to-inflator/octo hose diameter is too narrow).
FRANCISCO Z Not dure, I use it on a scuba pro
Shopper Will this Octo fit an Aqualung bcd?
STACY E This is a question for a local dive shop.
GREGORIO C It fits my DUI
JOSHUA S It should, I stress should, fit any modern bc, this is a question that any of the leisurepro staff can answer definatively!
JUNJI T Have no idea -- it is same as a Scubapro Air II in size and shape
DENNIS M I'm not sure if it will fit Aqualung BCD's. Mine is on a Sea Quest, fits and works fine.
Shopper does this come with the hose?
CHRIS J Yes it does. Simple installe
JOHN C Yes, they come with the hose. We purchased 6 of these for our association. So far so good. We use them to hook up to a hooka while pulling invasive weed in the northeast. This way the diver does not have to wear a tank.
STEVE C yes the hose that goes to your first stage but not the coragated hose that attaches to yor bc
BRIAN A Yes this blue reef octo comes wit a low prresure hose. The hose will also fit scuba pro air 2 and some other octo-inflator.
your bc must have a inch corragated hose for this to fit
SAMUEL R Yes, the Blue Reef Octo come with an inflator hose.
LARRY B The Octo + Inflator comes with the hose that connects the primary regulator to the inflator, but you must reuse the hose that connects the inflator to the B C.
MAX G When I ordered mine, yes, it came with the hose.
FREDERICK G G The unit comes with only the air pressure hose.
FRANCISCO Z yes, it come with the hose
RICHARD R yes it comes with the hose and was pretty easy to install on my wifes bc
HENRY V Yes it comes with an LP Inflator hose.
open the tab that says (included) next to the review tab on that page
Shopper will this fit the Tusa Liborator bcd?
Connor G Yes it does. I have mine on a Tusa Liberator and it fits fine (will fit anything with a 1' BC hose)
LARRY S I'm not sure I have it on my Malibu Aqua Lung. It should fit any standard Inflator. I used it on about 25 dives so far and absolutely love it.
STUART M I don't know about the TUSA but it has fit all three of my BCDs. I know one is a Sherwood. However I've packed them away and don't remember the brands. I'm guessing the Blue Reef is pretty much universal
ADELCIO JUNIOR D Yes good octo
JIM L yes, I installed it without problem, and it functions well.
Shopper will this fit on the cressi aqua pro 5, if not what will?
TERESA L Im not sure. i know that it fit my mares reg but not sure if it will fit a cressi. Sorry.
FERNANDO G excellent octopus, very confortable
GEORGE S It fits my wife's Zeagle but was too big for my Oceanic. Check the hose diameter on your bcd, if the inside diameter is 2.5 centimeters/ just shy of an inch or a little bigger then it should be good to go, if it's much smaller than that then attaching the Blue Reef will be tough.
PAUL T This is a universal replacement for your octo need and lp inflater need. It has a standard connector into your fist stage reg. Hope that helps
STACEY C It does not fit the cressi bcds. Mares air control will fit. It is quite a bit more money, built very solid.
BART B Verify that the cressi aquapro 5 has a standard 1" bc hose. You could call cressi and ask. Look at their website. It appears to from the photographs but I would make sure before you buy it.
ROBERT B I was very pleased with the blue Reef Octo + inflator. I was told it would work with most outfits. Only the manufacturer can tell you if it will work cressi aqua pro 5. good luck. CAll Leisure Pro direct and ask to talk to one of their experts.
Shopper what is the size of the regulator's first stage side of the hose? I am asking about lp connection side. it doesnt fit to first stage.I think
1/2" Male to 3/8" Female Regulator Adapter (AA48) can be fit with dacor extreme plus.
STACY E Love the regulator and it took another hose off my octo. Only draw back is the use of the low pressure inflator hose needed for this regulator, in the unlikely event of an on the boat hose change. Most bc fittings are not compatable!
ALBERTO V I do not know which regulator you are trying to install the hose to. However,
the male threads (hose to 1st stage) on the hose are 3/8 inch. I installed the hose directly (no adapter) to a MARES Proton metal regulator. The low pressure port on some older regulators are 1/2 inch, however there are other sizes. I would recommend that you have the port sized with a micrometer before you invest in an adapter. Hope this helped.
Al Valdez
(instructor & former dive shop tech)
MICHAEL M It comes with a hose that fits the Octo on one side and standard Lp from first stage on the other. I use it on Scubapro MK 25 and MK11 first stages.
Most first stage low-pressure ports are 3/8-inch female. A few brands have a special low-pressure port that is 1/2-inch female. So you will need a 1/2" Male to 3/8" Female Regulator Adapter if you only have 1/2" ports
GERRY H Low pressure hose is the standard 3/8" for most 1st stages. It will not fit some older Dacor or Apeks 1st stages with the 1/2" low pressure ports without a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter. Hope this helps, as the octo-inflater is a great way to streamline your rig. LP also has the best prices for this item and their service is second to none, I've ordered many items and have been happy with it all.
CRIP P Great Question,
I've never purchased a Blue Reef Octo, I've only purchased Scuba Pro Air 2's since they came out on the market. I prefer Air 2's to all others.
So what's up Leisure Pro? your sending questions to customers to let them know the Blue Reef Octo is on sale?
Shopper How does this unit attach to your BCD? is this something your LDS should do or is it a rather simple process? Thanks!
RAY J I attached it to my BC myself. Very easy to do. I have a Sherwood Tortuga. The reg itself works well. I have used in both cold (50 degrees) and warm (84 degrees) It breathed well at almost 100 feet. My octo is now off of my ADS. I have my primary and the blue reef octo inflater. less hoses. nice
Ray J
TIMOTHY B It was very easy to install. I just replaced the inflator valve with the Octo inflator. Works fine for the intended use.
SAMUEL R To install the Blue Reef Octo + Inflator the BC inflator currently on the BC will need to be removed. This usually involves removing the plastic wire tie that tighten the original BC inflator onto the corrugated hose on the BC. In most cases this requires that the wire tie be carefully cut off. Have another wire tie on hand as a replacement. (Wire ties can be purchased at hardware stores.) Check to see is the wire tie on the BC is removal without cutting.
To remove the inflator valve after removing the wire tie: work the original inflator valve off the corrugated hose by twisting and pulling slowly on the value. The corrugated hose may be sealed tightly due to time and may require some prying with a flat object to loosen the corrugated hose.
NOTE: There will a cable looped around a metal pin that runs across the diameter of the inflator valve. This cable connects to the air dump valve located on the left shoulder side of the BC. The metal pin needs to be tapped out of the original inflator valve before attaching the Blue Reef Octo + Inflator.
NOTE: Before removing the pin from the original inflator valve be sure to place some type of object, such as, a dowel or a smooth screw driver shaft or a BIC type pen through the loop of the cable. This is to prevent the cable from retracting into the corrugated hose.
Once the original inflator hose is off and cable is secured from retraction, tap the new metal pin (the pin comes with the Blue Reef Octo + Inflator) most of the way through into the one of the holes of the Blue Reef Octo + Inflator (this functions just as the original inflator valve.) then looped the dump valve cable on the new pin. Finish taping the pin all the way across into the other pin hole.
Twist the Blue Reef Octo + Inflator into the corrugate hose and attach a new wire tie around the corrugated hose. A little soap water or water soluble gel with help get the inflator into the hose. Tighten the wire tie until the Blue Reef Octo + Inflator is snug, it does not need to be super tight. A little play or moment is OK.
The low pressure inflator hose just needs to be screwed into one of the low pressure ports on the first stage regulator where a octopus regulator would normally be placed.
The process is simple and who wants to pay more money to a LDS. I will never return to a conventional octopus.
JAMES P I purchased two of the Blue Reef Octo + Inflator with inflator hose kits. Both of them are defective and leak air constantly. I would recommend that you consider another option or other manufacturer for this type of solution. I am sending mine back to LeisurePro so now have to pay additional shipping and handling even though I am not just returning them because I changed my mind. Depending on the final resolution from LeisurePro, I may never buy from them again. I have no intention of continually paying additional S&H fees because they supply faulty products.
However, I have purchased several items from LeisurePro and this is the first time I have encountered an issue with a product from them.
DANIEL R I never integrated it into my set up. I was not crazy about the overall feel of the unit. So I will likely look for a more advanced unit in the future.
LAURA H Very simply. A wrench an a zip tie is all you need.
RANDALL A I sent mine back to Leisure Pro. The install was something a LDS should do, and mine quoted 50-70.00. The hose was also a different size than my Mares inflator. Seemed too much money and hassle for a add on to a 200.00 BC. I am going to repplace my BC soon, and will just get one with a Octo inflater built in.
SHANNON C It is really simple. You detach the stock inflator from your BC by cutting of the zip tie (being careful not to damage the inflator hose, then remove from inflator hose. Place inflator hose on Octo+ Inflator (ensure you push hose completely on). Then use the provided zip ties to secure snugly. Trim excess zip tie off and you are done.
MAX G The process is rather straight forward if you are comfortable with working on your own gear. First remove the tie-wrap around the tube coming from your BCD to your present inflator. Next slide the tube off your present inflator. You will see that there is a cable coming from one of the dump valves on your BCD that is attached to your present inflator by a pin going through the neck of the inflator. Remove the pin as it should be snug, but not overly tight. Installing the Octo-Inflator is the reverse process. Partially remove the pin in the Octo-Inflator and slip the cable loop over the pin. Press the pin into the open side of the Octo-Inflator until it is fully seated. Verify that extending the Octo-Inflator operates the dump valve of your BCD. Next slip the tube from your BCD back over the neck of the Octo-Inflator. Lastly, place a tiewrap aroung the tube at the base of the Octo-Inflator and tighten. Trim the excess tiewrap off. Test your installation by orally inflating the BCD just as you did with your old inflator and using the same vent valve check that it deflates just like the old inflator and check the operation of the dump valve once again.
You will have to change the BCD inflator hose from your first stage regulator as the new one is a larger size to accomodate the greater air flow needed as a Octo. This is simply unscrewing the old hose and replacing it with the new one. Be sure to lightly lube the new O-ring on the new hose before installation. Do not over tighten and check it for leaks .
the whole operation should take maybe 15-20 minutes once you have the tools collected. Remember, this is life support equipment and if you are not comfortable with doing this changeout, have your local dive shop do it for you.
STEVE C The pressure line is just a snap-on fitting. The hose that goes to your bcd inflator just slips over the end of the bcd inflator hose, and you use a zip-tie to secure it.
LARRY B It's a pretty simple change. First, you just remove your current inflator by cutting the plastic ty-wrap that secures the inflator to the large inflator hose. Next, place the new Octo + Inflator on the large hose and secure with a new ty-wrap. Next, remove the small inflator hose from the first stage regulator and replace it with the new hose that comes with the Octo + Inflator, be sure to lubricate the O-ring on the inflator hose that goes into the first stage regulator. You're done.
JOHN B It is simple. Just cut zip tie that holds old inflator on. Push cable pinthrough far enough to get dump cable off, reverse process with the new one and secure with new zip tie. Switch hoses out on regulator. If you can handle a wrench and zip ties you will be in good shape.
I have not actually used this inflator but bought three for my grandsons. They all seemed to get along with them fine and I had them breathe through them periodically to get used to using an alternate air. They all three said the inflators worked just fine.
PETER E To attach it you will need to remove the old inflator by clipping the zip tie and removing the inflotor hose from the inflator. Then there is usually a pin that goes through the opening where the inflator hose attaches. You need to push this through enough to remove the cable that is inside the inflator hose. Simply reverse the procedure to attach the new inflator.
BRANDEN A Attaches very easley. Cut the ziptie pull out inflator and untie the airdump string. Tie the string on the air2 and put it back in the rubber hose and zip tie it back up. Took me about 5 minutes.
Shopper Is this identical to the Scubapro Air 2 ? Is a knock-off or who makes it?
Connor G Very similar to the Scuba pro air 2 for a cheaper $. I was told from a LP rep that it uses Dive Rite parts
LORRI H I don't know the answer to mechanical or "who makes it" questions. It was a great bang for the buck and does the job it was designed to do well.
STEVE C The Blue Reef Octo + Inflator with inflator hose is very close some parts are the same but a scubapro air 2 kit will not fit on 2 of the o-rings hose is the same as for who makes this I haven't been able to find a supplier for parts yet very good reg was baught for my son worked well till we had it serviced and the tec tried to put the scuba pro kit in it and now the two o-rings that are too small make it leek air into the bc ALL THE TIME REPLACED IT WITH A SCUBA PRO AIR 2 BUT IF i FIND A SERVICE KIT WILL PUT IT ON ANOTHER BC
JAMES P I don't know if it is identical to the Scubapro Air 2 or not. I can tell you that we purchased two of them and both of them leak air through the mouth piece. One is just a trickle of air but the other is a very bad leak. As such, both are unusable. These were purchased in December of 2010 but living in Ohio we just got a chance to try them. We are going to try to return them to LeisurePro since they are faulty.
STUART M The Blue Reef Octo is similar to the Air 2 system from Scubapro. It acts as a BCD power inflator and doubles as an octopus. I like a system like this because it saves one extra hose. I have used the Air 2 inflator for years at work. I have been diving with a 2nd stage attached to by BCD inflator sine the 80s.
Blue Reef Octo is the company name on the box.
RANDALL A No idea. I purchased one last year but returned it. It uses a different size hose (not included) than my Mares inflator and it had to be installed.
KENNETH S Only used the scubapro from a rental and found my Blue Reef Octo equal in service and only slightly infurior in quality of manufacture and have no regrets as to the purchase.
CHARLES M I Think is LeisurePro's product line, Have used it for the past 8 months and works great, Nice to have the combo of a Inflator and a Octo hangs right where you need it. Great Price ,works Great
NANCY S It certainly is not identical to any Scubapro product. It functions the same and is reliable; even uses the same connection just not quite the same quality.
I have breathed off of it and it delivers plenty of air with its simple down stream valve. I use mine mostly on student gear so they can see a wider range of equipment to help them decide about purchases.
JEFF A To the best of my knowledge this is a clone of the ScubaPro unit. It is advertiised as being manufactured by the OEM, (original equipment manufacturer). It is far less expensive than the Scubapro and I have been completely satisfied with it. I have never needed it in an emergency but I test breath it on every dive. No problems have ever appeared. I would not hesitate to recommend this unit to anyone.
LARRY B I'm not sure if it's identical to the Scubapro Air 2, but I'm pretty confident it's a knock-off. However, in over 50 dives since I've purchased this regulator, it has worked flawlessly. I've had no problems at all. When it comes to breathing, it does leave something to be desired, you have to work a little for that air, but if you have a primary regulator failure and have to use the Octo + , it WILL get you safely to the surface. No issues at all with the inflator side.
MARTIN S It is not a Scubapro 2, although it functions the same. It can replace the Scubapro 2. I have used one and had it replaced by LeisurePro (good customer service) when it developed a small leak.
Shopper Is this Nitrox compatible?
LeisurePro S Yes, up to 40%
Shopper Can I still use and connect my dive alert air horn to this octo setup?
LeisurePro S Only If your Dive Alert horn is the model that fits the Scubapro Air 2
Shopper can you use your exsisting lp hose, or does it use a special one?
LeisurePro S No, this hose (included) has a special fitting
Shopper will this fit on a zeagle escape bc
LeisurePro S The Octo + Inflator will attach to any standard 1" BC corrugated hose.
