    I'm not a diver but I have used this whistle at school for about 12+ years. It is the perfect whistle for yard duty because it really gets everyone's attention. I just ordered one for my purse for safety. It can be quite piercing and loud, so I usually warn anyone near me before I blow it. The kids think it is great!

    I was in a situation where I had to use this whistle, and no one could hear it until the boat was practically on top of me. Not safe. This was not an extreme situation- a small swell, not especially windy, in the tropics. Luckily I had a large safety sausage.

        This thing is unbelieveably loud. You really need to put your fingers in your ears when you blow it as otherwise it will leave them ringing.

        Was liked so much by the DM in Cozumel that I gave it to him, and need to get a replacement myself.

          Have you seen the movie "Open Water"?
          They wished to have a whistle like that. If the captain will not hear you whistling, nobody else will. I would like to try it in winter time against the wind, I'm curious. By the way, when you try it, be alone, slightly bother your eardrums...

            I carry this whistle in case of emergencies while on the surface. This whistle is very loud and does exactly what it says it does. I am in the Army and we use this exact same whitle. You will have NO PROBLEM getting somebodys attension using this.
