Nils J hey, just wondering, in an effort to streamline equipment, I would like to attach my gauge to this, how long is this retractor from end to end, NOT extended? Thanks!

The retractor length, NOT extended, is 8 and one half inches. i have found that the retractor spring has remained effective at keeping items retracted even after a number of dives with it.

Nils J Does it have a locking mechanism?
BRAD S I'd say about 4-6 inches. I use it for my small flashlight on the D ring of my BCD. Works great and doesn't "dangle" too badly. The gauge would probably work too but not sure of the weight of the gauge versus the tension strength of the retractor. Should be ok but would just be an area to pay attention too.

VITALIY G You can adjust length by manipulating with straps/clips. The plastic part of retractor is about 4-5 inches, strap/clips- additional 2 inches.
MICHAEL M My Carabineer is aproximately 4 inches just hanging (not extended). It works VERY well in kepping my computer within reach.

I don't have it in front of me, but it is between 5 and 6 inches end to end when retracted. Hope this helps.
