RICHARD D M I don't know the answer as I do not use this to attach the octo.
BOOK A No. Octos need to be secured with a breakaway connection. A person that is OOA (out of air) will possibly be near or in a state of panic and unable to deal with how to release the snap. They need to be able to simply yank it to their mouth. Bolt snaps are excellent for securing gauges, lights, cameras, and reels but not octos.

IRENE L Yes...but only with the help of either an old fashioned snorkel keeper or an oversized o ring. Both wrapped around the end of octo hose just before the second stage then onto the brass clip. I use this for my pony spg and clip it to my backplate...good luck!
VLADIMIR L Not directly. the ring diameter isn't large enough to let you put a hose through it. You would need to tie it to an octo and then use the hook to snap the octo to a D-ring.
DANIEL S Absolutely. However, make sure you do NOT attach it directly to the octopus. In an out-of-air scenario, neither you nor your buddy will be able to get the octo quickly enough and an emergency is likely to result. I would strongly recommend to put a mouthpiece holder between the boltsnap and the octo, so that in an emergency all you have to do is grab the octo and pull it free. Search for "octopus holder" on the LeisurePro website and you will find what I mean.
TYLER M As other folks have pointed out, if you are a recreational diver, snap bolt on your octo is probably a bad idea. But if you are like me, a long hose tech diver, then a snap bolt on your "octo" is normal as this is your primary air source and also the source you'd give a away (or typically have taken from you) in an emergency.
TYLER M Sure can! I use these and cave line to attach them to just about everything I dive with. Search for "How to Attach a Snap dive gear" in google and read the first article that you see on how to properly attach them to your equipment.
DANIEL C You COULD, but you probably wouldn't want to. The idea behind your octo connection, is that you want it to be easily deployed in the event of an emergency. If it's permanently attached with a sliding gate latch like this, the safety margin is greatly reduced. Besides that, this clip is sort of on the long side for an attachment method.
MYSTIC T You could definitely attach an octo with this snap. However that is a solid ring and not a split ring. That means you would have to find a way to attach it such as with cave line or with an additional split ring.
VITALY L Nope. This is to attach lights, slates etc. Octo needs to be in a special holder to be released quickly if needed by a fellow diver in out of air situation. Something like diverite part DR-AC2086.
