When that moment finds you at any depth you should be prepared. Face it, if someone is careless enough to run out of air.... You don't want them breathing all of yours before you make it to the top. Give them thier own tank. The set up is easy and quick. You don't have to be a scientist to use this set up. Just clamp the pony on the rig and it swithes from tank to tank with very little effort. One basic tank stap and your done. Best safety investment you can have.

I'm over 60 and my air consumption has deteriorated terribly; then a friend suggested that I get a Pony to keep from pulling my buddy out of the dive always short. I had never used one so I wrongly guessed a bracket to mount it directly to the tank was the way to go. After fumbling for nearly an hour to get the bracket right (you will never guess all the small adjustments to positioning that are required and the instructions are next to nil), I had to fumble on the boat for another ten minutes to get it on the tank, and needed the help of two boat-hands. Donning the BC with the two tanks and standing-up to enter the water made me feel like I was going to dive the Doria. Getting the BC out of the water after the dive required two persons. Next day, the dive-op owner removed the brackets from my ponys and made some simple stage-bottle type front-mount rigs with some nylon cord, a length of fuel hose one of the hose clamps from the brackets and a couple of brass clips. With this method, I could enter the water unencumbered, receive the pony and attach it to my BC underwater with one hand. I also had the regulator close to my mouth and could monitor the small pressure gauge mounted to the 1st stage. This way, in an emergency you can actually give the tank to the other diver. The bracket rusted completely after the dive even tho it was hosed with fresh water.

Comments about Aqua Explorers Aqua Explorer Ultimate Pony Bracket:
Overall good strap. It sits nice and rigid, I use it with a aluminum-30 pony bottle. I rent my tanks and found that tis may leave a scratch on surface. I have solved this by using a peice of neoprene and velco to create a pad.

initial setup is a bit tedious but once together it's easy to switch the pony from tank to tank. all hardware is on the pony so there is no need to buy a speacial attachment for every tank. It also holds the pony very securely.
Awesome Product ! Works Well,Good Price.

This is an awesome mount. I just found it very hard to assemble. Actually my dive buddy had to come and show me how he put his together. I would have been there for hours. It WORKS great once it is together.......I am very happy I purchased this mount over the others I have seen.
Poor execution of a good design

Instructions confusing, one protective pony bottle band missing, sharp edges on bracket scratch large tank, large strap cam has poor engagement to bracket-hangs up on the bracket when closing.
