Great price, but I just dove with 2 buddies with the same unit. We all indicated quite different temperatures and ascent rates doing identical things. Temps varied by 5 degrees. This makes you a bit nervous about the other more important readings. One buddy said there was a huge variation in allowed bottom time between his and the DM's Suunto when he did a deep wreck dive. The Suunto was more conservative.

The ascent rate indicator memory is useless as, at some time in every dive, the 3 bar maximum will be exceeded. At the end of the dive, an average ascent rate readout would be better.

Having said that, it is an excellent entry level computer (or it'd non-nitrox sister model)

One of the three of us had to change a battery and had an o-ring problem and a following flood. The flood only affected the battery, not the computer as Aeris seals off the two areas pretty well. It should come with a spare O-ring or two though.

I would buy another one (in fact I already have as a previous one went overboard without a wearer).

Bought this elsewhere, but I like it and would recommend for an entry computer. One complaint I have though is that the ascent monitor is so sensitive that if I move my arm to fast or something (or just turn vertical too fast for the ascent) then the visual alarm is already going off and I have to wait a minute before starting my ascent. Wish it did averages (temp/depth) like suunto's, but still a good computer.

Comments about Aeris XR1 NX Wrist Computer:

Have only use the computer consol once but it did everything i wanted. I compared it to my computer and it was very close. The assent alarm was a little more sensivive than mine but all in all it was good. I bought this unit for my wife and it will do everything and more that she will be using it for.It also dose nytrox and would make a great back up computer For someone more advanced
I did not use the compass but the numbers are easy to use and the besle turns easy.

My only complaint is that after your surface, the computer still cycles through the tables. I just want to see the most recent information. Maybe you can change this feature and I just didn't see it in the manual

Comments about Aeris XR1 NX Wrist Computer:

Aeris computers have long been among the most reliable available. Why in the world they decided to change the battery compartment over from a simple coin slot to its present complicated configueration is an absolute mystery to me. It practically takes a degree in engeering to change the battery. I predict a lot of flooded computers due to failure to get the compartment cap and o-ring properly installed, which probably means this particular battery cover will be short lived. Let's hope so.
