The other comments about this BC are way off. This BC is perfect for its purpose. It is a back inflate BC and its clearly stated as that. It only has a butt dump because its a back inflate BC which is normal. The butt dump is not the only way to release air as you can also use your power inflater hose, like all back inflates or wings. The weight pockets are positioned like all other weight pockets and if you dump the weights you wouldn't be putting them back in underwater. About the comment on floating face down that is just strange to think a jacket BC would always make you float to the surface heads up if you are unconscious. This back inflate BC works perfect for helping maintain good trim and has plenty of lift for holding you up out of the water during high surf ocean dives.

I had difficulty managing buoyancy. I kept rolling to my side in this BC. Suspect I had uneven air distrubution. I had difficulty with effective air dumping. After 6 dives, I rented a chest inflate and had immediate control and a better dive experience. Back inflate is not for everyone. I like the large pockets and light weight for travel.

Comments about Aeris EX 200 Back Inflation BCD with QLR Weight Pockets, Black:

I had to get use to using the wing style inflate, but this is awesome. You have to learn how to use the back inflate but it is really great when you begin to swim.

Comments about Aeris EX 200 Back Inflation BCD with QLR Weight Pockets, Black:

        The short Version:
Excellent BCD (and not just for the price)

        Long Version:
This is my first BCD in probably 20 years; replacing my trusty Sea Quest jacket, whose cummerbund inexplicably started to uh, shrink. I was attracted to the back inflate feature solely for freedom of movement potential, but I was a little gun shy regarding some of the comments regarding shifting, weight distribution, etc. If this sounds like you, just do your homework. With weight properly distributed in the tank pockets and dumpable pockets (which is easy by the way), this thing is major comfortable. I did have the cummerbund ride up a little at first, but that was easily fixed by releasing some tension on the shoulder straps; the depth compensating cummerbund does the rest.

There are a couple of things I wish it had, SS D-rings and pre-grommeted knife attachment points (or separate knife pocket), and but that would probably make it less reasonably priced.

As far as quality, I believe it's very good. The material may not be as heavy as my old Sea Quest, but I expect lighter-weight, higher-performance materials after 20 years, and if you carry your own gear, the lighter the better as far as I'm concerned.

I also purchased the easily attachable Aeris Air Link Lower Assembly. The button locations on it take a bit of getting used to, but I recommend it if you plan on a BCD second air source. It is important to note that the Aeris BCD's (at least this one) have a 3/4" I.D. inflator hose (smaller than many others manufacturers); the Aeris product mates right up.

        Happy Diving!

Comments about Aeris EX 200 Back Inflation BCD with QLR Weight Pockets, Black:

This is a great BC for the price. There are models with more features and heavier nylon but this seems like a good balance between features, durability, weight, and price for a novice rec diver like myself.

The pockets are a bit small, but will fit an RDP perfectly. Although webbing loops are plentiful, a console retractor is almost required, as it is slightly awkward to clip back up above the cummerbund, and more so below.

Freedom of movement is great with the rear bladder. It takes some adjustment to purge from the shoulder at depth, since you need to roll into it for the air to get out of the horshoe. A few dives and you do it automatically. The weight system is very secure.

This BC aids horizontal profile, but will put an unresponsive diver face down
on the surface. Adding weight to the included non-dump pockets on the tank band brought me more upright on the surface without changing my dive profile.
