I've got 10 dives with this BC now and I've been very happy with the fit and balanced flotation. It is my first back buoyancy BC, but I really like the stability. I do wish that the BC had a pocket to put things like a car key or other personal items, but I guess that's the point of a minimalist BC. It does have a pouch for small items found below, but doesn't seem meant for personal items.

I'm not a big guy (5-9, 165lbs) and there seems to be a bit of space between my stomach and the abdomen strap, due to the integrated weights not flexing much (I'm keeping 10lb in each, due to diving in the Pacific NW). Also, the weight pockets on the tank strap can make putting the tank on a little bit annoying, but I've gotten used to it now. The integrated weight system is really easy to use and goes in/out with ease.

Surface flotation is great, even in rough water.

I've been very happy with this BC so far, and can't wait to use it in some warm water.

I returned the BC because it just did not fit well, and I don't think a different size would have helped. Once the weight pockets were loaded up they dug into my hip bones, but if I loosened the straps the BC just slid around. It was a disappointment because it really seemed like a nice, well-constructed BC at a fantastic price. Also, the back plate dug into my the small of my back, altering my posture.

again price is fantastic, material enclosing air bladder could be a little more durable, (will keep out of direct sun light as much as poss) but overall happy. purchased for our newly cert 12 yo son. excellant first BCD. Would recommend.

Comments about Aeris 5 Oceans Buoyancy Compensator:

This is an awesome BC and I get compliments all the time from other divers. Out of the box I used it with no issues. Going from jacket style BCs to this is like night and day, it is exremely comfortable allowing more range of motion. I definitely will not be going back to those bulky BCs anytime soon. This is as good as a back inflated BC gets without having to spend a fortune on a tech rig. Also, I understand Aeris was trying to minimize weight with this style but a set of metal D rings on each shoulder strap would have been nice and probably would only add a few ounces to the overall weight of the BC. Other than that I have no complaints.

Great for every day diving, the most comfortable I have owned. made of heavy material, very stream-lined in water. Comes with a lot of extra clips for hoses and accessories. Not overly heavy.
