Comments about Camaro Camaro Stingray 7mm Mens Semi Dry Front Zipper Suit:

I used this suit this weekend (Memorial Day - God bless our Veterans!) for the first time in Rockport, MA. Water temps were 52 and visibility was a beautiful 35 feet give or take. Surface temps in the low 80s. I found that the other 7 in my party all had some kind of complaint with their suits, (each seemed to have a different one) be it comfort, fit, warmth or what have you.

I do agree that:

1) The lining inside is so very comfortable.
2) It is hard to get off the shoulders and thanks to a prior reviewer, a tie-down hook works wonders. Other than that, the fit seems to be as Camaro describes it. I am 6', 180 and a large fits well.
3) It does leak; particularly if you bend forward relieving pressure on the g-lock zipper. However, there are lots of gadgets and gizmos to help the diver stay "semi-dry." You have to pay attention to them. Using it after proper adjustment I found that these leaks were substantially reduced. More below.

There is plenty of room to fasten the top of the interior flap behind the g-lock zipper tightly on the right side of the neck. I didn't do that on my first dive and this flap didn't offer a tight bond behind the zipper. Amazingly, the secure rubber-to-rubber bond stayed nearly entirely secured while on my second dive. I even tried to bend in all sorts of directions to test it. So pay attention to how tight the flap is secured.

Once that flap is secured, now be sure that the exterior flap is tight around your neck, but obviously not tight so you are uncomfortable. Use the suit's bonds!

While wearing gloves, attempt to pull the sleeves down towards your hands as far as you can, and make sure your gloves are pulled onto your hands the same. The overlap, again, forms a very tight bond. The first dive I had very cold hands. But not the second. Again, pay attention to how the suit is built and use it to your advantage. The same here goes for your feet and your booties.

Comments about Camaro Camaro Stingray 7mm Mens Semi Dry Front Zipper Suit:

I used this suit this weekend to do 2 dives in 50 degree water in puget sound near Seattle. Was very warm, I did not get cold at all until I got out and was trying to get the suit off.

The suit is very easy to get on, but getting it off again later is another story. I have only used it a few times, so maybe I will figure out a way to make it easier.

Comments about Camaro Camaro Stingray 7mm Mens Semi Dry Front Zipper Suit:

My wife and I live and dive in the Puget Sound in Washington state.

The numbers:
We've had these suits since May '09 (3 months)
I've logged about 25 dives in mine, my wife about 20
We've dove as deep as 85fsw in them, near Seattle
at about 50 degrees Fahrenheit my wife starts to get chilly, I'm OK down to mid 40s

We both really enjoy these suits and for single dives or warmer days they are what we use. They are easy to get into and out of. Though as a note: I have really broad shoulders and am 6'4" tall, to avoid pulling too hard on the right shoulder when removing it after a dive (as the zipper crosses the chest to the left, it leaves a lot of material to get over the point of the shoulder on the right) I do use either a buddy's help or a tie-down strap with a hook to get the wet material over my shoulders.

It's definately a SEMI-dry suit, there are double layer seals on wrists and ankles to trap your boots and gloves between for a very low water transfer, and no tight neck seal (which is way more comfortable for me) the long front zipper is nice and heavy-duty, but not a dry zipper, you do get wet, but much less than a wet suit and with minimal water transfer if it fits correctly.

Wear has been minimal for us so far, the suits seem like they will hold up for quite some time.

I was going to experiment with a hooded vest (instead of the one I have that tucks in) to cover the zipper for colder weather/water diving, but haven't gotten cold enough to need to yet.

Also nice: there is a napped soft material on the inside that is very comfortable on bare skin and doesn't chafe at all, it also dries very quickly, one (spring) overnight on a hanger inside-out in the garage and only the ankles will be a little damp.

We also have drysuits for deeper/colder dives or where we're doing multiple dives in a day or night and we'll be hanging out in cold air for our surface intervals. Pulling this suit back on wet isn't a lot of fun, not as bad as a straight neoprene wetsuit, but definitely work. and you do get wet enough in it that if the air is cold, you'll be chilly getting out of it.
