Blue Reef 6.5MM Neoprene Hood with 3mm face seal, neck and bib, the skin face seal and bib add warmth and are easily trimmed to custom fit the diver. All seams are glued and blind stitched for strength and durability. If you choose to wear with a dry suit the bib is designed as a cut-away bib.

I had to go one size smaller than my ordinary neck size. The face seal has to be flushed against the skin, otherwise you'll lose body heat. Other than that, it keeps my head nice and warm in cold water.

Great hood; it is very warm in the 52F (11C) waters of Western Canada (down to 100FSW). It fits exactly true to size for me; it couldn't be any better. The hood makes a complete seal around my face and my head for the most part (that being if I have to pull it over my mask to get a seal) keeps my head dry and no air bubbles tend to get trapped like others have previously stated. I am a little disappointed with the fabric laminated rubber around the face though.... it snaggs super easy and looks like s**t after too because it all kinda comes loose :/. Other than that it is 5/5

It has very poor ventilation for releasing any air pockets that get trapped within the hood. Air pockets form inside the hood throughout the dive making it difficult to hold proper buoyency under water. I found myself constantly pushing down on the top of my head to force the massive air pocket out that had continuously formed. I plan to solve this by cutting a small hole in the top, but i'm kind of disappointed that I have to.

I would pass on this one. There is no exhaust valve on the top which causes the hood to pull from one's head. Blue reef goal is decent quality at a great price, but they missed on this one.

This came as part of a package. I melted a vent hole as I got tired of the trapped air. The biggest problem was how tight it fit around my neck. If I were buying a hood as a separate item, I would probably buy another brand

The fit and design was horrible. I was doing my check out dives and it continuously filled with air bubbles throwing off my buoyancy. There wasn't a release at the top/hole to let the air out. After the first dive I had to get out and melt 3 holes in the top. After that modification things went well.

I'm not a cold-water diver - it's just something I don't enjoy. However, getting ready for my IDC in February, I needed to get some gear to handle the colder temps and, quite frankly, if I want to do any deep diving in Lake Amistad, TX, during the summer, I'll need more protection anyway. So, this was only my second experience diving with a hood and the Blue Reef was very comfortable. Although I didn't really have any problems with air bubbles under the hood, it would have been nice to know a bubble vent was there. Since the most body heat is lost through the head, I bought a thicker hood than my suit (a 5mm Lynx by Waterproof -- VERY excellent suit) and I didn't have any issues.

Absolutely love this hood and you can't beat the price. Have worn this hood in 45 degree water and was just fine. Only neg. is that some air can get trapped near the top of your head, but just push it down and forward and it will take it out. Great buy.

We're typically in water temperatures between 47 and 55 degrees. I've yet to have any discomfort from cold! Love the long bib; it tucks inside my suit and keeps me toasty warm. The one down side is there's no ventilation on top and too much air gets trapped. It's a minor annoyance for the joy of not getting cold.
