Comments about Spare Air Spare-Air 3000 3.0 Kit, Yellow:

I use this on every dive and have been for years. It travels great and fits nicely on my bc rings by my back plate. Some say it is not enough air to make a difference. I say that some air is better than no air and I think it can save me in a bad situation. Once a boat guy turned my air partly on and 20 feet down I had no air. Things happen -- be prepared. Don't count on your buddy 20 feet away.

Comments about Spare Air Spare-Air 3000 3.0 Kit, Yellow:

The benefit of this is that at any stage during a dive, you know you have enough air to get to another diver, or to get to the surface with a relatively easy CESA. This has changed the way that I dive, and in particular with photographers. At the start of a dive I will tell them that if they want my air, they need to stick with me, because I have my backup. No more dives ruined mindlessly waiting for photographers to move a total of 5 metres every 5 minutes.

Comments about Spare Air Spare-Air 3000 3.0 Kit, Yellow:

I decided it would be crazy of me to get back into the water w/o such a device....how stupid would I feel IF I ran into a situation where spare air was needed and I'd opted to save a few bucks. Just couldn't get those thoughts out of my head, so pulled the trigger. Why take the risk. How often is your dive buddy within reach...I mean close enough you could reach his octopus w/o having to take at least a few good kicks? Could you get there if you went to inhale and couldn't get that breath you needed RIGHT NOW...still got enough air to close up on your buddy and get to his octopus?
Spare-Air eliminates that concern.
It attaches easily to you BC...just remember to put it where you can REACH it easily. I found attaching it (open end down) near the lower end of my tank made opening the Velcro cover on the carry bag awkward...was out of the way yet retrievable, but took a few seconds to get to. Found this out while testing accessibility and function of it on one of my last dives of the 20 I did with Spare-Air at Cocos Island...no emergency, I had air and time to play with it.
The only downside I can see to Spare-Air is that you have to work a bit harder to draw each breath. Not a big price to pay to stay alive in a serious air emergency, however.

Comments about Spare Air Spare-Air 3000 3.0 Kit, Yellow:

I take the spare air on all dives.I really like that in case of a total gas system failure you have an isolated 2nd system that can still give you a few extra breathes to either get you to your buddy or help get you up. Not real happy with the original pin air pressure gauge and believe they should come with the optional dial gauge instead. Other than that I think it's a fine unit.

Luckily i haven't had to use this in an emergency situation yet but I did do a test dive in our pond to see just how long i could stay under. It is enough to get you to the surface but i wouldn't want to waste any time in doing so.

It is easy to use and easy to fill. Make sure you fill it off of a full tank so you can get maximum time out of it. Remember the psi in you tank is what you are going to get into your Spare air. I hope this helps!

I was surprise how easy it was to fill the spare air tank from a regular air tank using the adapter which came with it. I have not had to use it in an emergency. You need to take the air out of the spare air tank before flying with it.

I have practiced using the spare air tank in the pool and also used in when I snorkled at Key West before flying back home from a dive trip.

Gives me peace of mine while diving.

I use these onboard my sailboat. Keep a Spare Air for quick emergency dives to clear a fouled prop of crab pot lines etc.

Also the kids love to play with it on shallow dives around the boat. I'm certified diver, kids are working on theirs...

Refills are quick and easy from an 80 cu ft tank onboard.

When I dive the spare air goes with me....But the best use I have found is for everyday use on a boat....A quick trip to go get keys or a stuck anchor and it gives you a piece of mind knowing you have 2-3 minutes of air in case of an emergency.
