A pony tank is a smaller tank, which is carried additionally to the mostly single main tank. It possesses its own regulator with first and second stage and sometimes a gauge too. It will be mounted either at ones side or in front of the body or fixed at the main tank.
A pony bottle scuba tank is the only true redundancy you can rely on.

When shipped the tanks valves will be removed and the tank will require re-inspection before being filled.
All Catalina cylinders are Nitrox Ready!

this tank is grate i went a litel overborad got the 40 wow thats big but you know what if i haft to bail at 130ft i have the air to make a normal asent and do my saftey stop with air to spare

I recently purchased the 19cf catalina bottle as a redundant air source. The bottle works great and I was able to find an easy method (cheap) to mount the bottle on my AL80 tank. It provides enough gas for me to safely ascend with my 3 minute stop from 60 feet.

Gives me 10 more minutes in case of emergency at 40 feet. Great backup. Cheaper than "SpareAir" if you already have a regulator, but bulkier on yourserlf and especially when travelling. But 10 minutes is a real backup: less than 13 cubic feet is less worth having a backup... When you don't know what kind of equipment you'll get when travelling, this is a good thing to have in your travel bag. In south they won't ask for the visual test so you can empty it and remove the valve for plane travelling and customs.

Catalina makes great pony bottles ! I took about 4 lbs off my weight while using this and ScubaPro Mk2 plus/R190 regs and it I hardly notice it's there while diving. Love it !

The 6 cuft pony bottle is perfect for dry suit inflation using argon. We use them on every dive we make in the Pacific Northwest. Brand name products and Leisure Pro make buying easy, especially when you consider that the nearest dive store is 100 miles from our home!

I use the Aqua Genesis as a pony bottle. I chose the 30 cubic ft size because carries enough air to get me to the surface in any of the situations I am likely to encounter. Also it is big enough to be used as a stage bottle.
