Brand: Scubapro
Located in: Essential Equipment, Snorkels
The Escape snorkel keeps the sea, lake, or river water around you instead of inside your mouth. The semi-dry design keeps the water from splashing over the top of the snorkel, allowing you to breathe air instead of water. After returning to the surface from depth, simply exhale easily to clear the barrel and tube to clear the snorkel; by having the purge valve at the lowest point of the snorkel, gravity makes clearing the water and effortless task. The large barrel permits more air than the Escape's counterparts simply because it is bigger than most snorkels available. The curved shape allows the Escape to hug your head instead of dipping into the water as you peer around below you during your time on the surface.

Comments about Scubapro ScubaPro Escape Snorkel:

I got one of these because I didn't like the way the Scubapro Shotgun Snorkel fit... and it was a very poor product.

It breathed wet ALL the time... the purge valve didn't work right, and when I surfaced after snorkeling, even after blowing the water out there was still water in the bottom that never made it past the little trap.

Additionally, the airflow is restricted.

Scubapro generally makes great products but they sure missed on this one.

Comments about Scubapro ScubaPro Escape Snorkel:

I really liked this snorkel. Unfortunately during a fairly rough surge hanging on the line for a safety stop, the snorkel disappeared.... The clip doesn't close on the bottom and it slipped up over the strap on my mask. Too bad... I'll probably buy one with a different clip.

Good snorkel for the price, I didn't have purge issues like others did. But I don't use the snorkel that much when I'm in the water.

This is an average snorkel at best, however, it wears quickly.

Specifically, the purge valve on mine failed numerous times turning it into an oversized straw.

Comments about Scubapro ScubaPro Escape Snorkel:

This snorkel is works well. The overall design is contoured to the wearer's head. It does feel awkward at first, but the curve to the top of your head is designed to keep the water out at all cost. And if you're head is above the water (where it should be) then you'll have no problems with this snorkel.
