Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

This is a good snorkel for drift diving, kelp diving and cave/wreck penetration, as it lets you carry it in a BC pocket, and avoid drag and snags. It's also good for those who just don't like having a snorkel hanging from their mask, but still want to have one with them just in case.

It could fold even smaller, but it definitely fits in most BC pockets, and performs quite well. It may not be quite as feature-rich as the most sophisticated regular snorkels available, but it beats many non-foldables in performance and comfort and seems to last well so far.

Too narrow
By Adam HelbergVerified Reviewer from Santa Ana, CA on 10/11/2009
Cons:
Restricted Airflow

No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

It sticks well to the mask strap. However I tried this snorkel during a surface swim and the narrow width causes restricted breathing. It was really hard breathing. My Aqualung Impulse snorkel breathes much easier but is not foldable.

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

I lopped off the top and replaced it with a dry valve off of another snorkel. It works great now and still fits in my BCD pocket. You might also want to replace the mouth piece with your favorite as well.

This is perfect for what I intend to use it for...a pocket snorkle while SCUBA diving that won't be used unless I need it for contingentcy. Excellent. I don't wear a snorkle while diving ,but, I like to have one.

Not for extended snorkeling
By BradVerified Reviewer from Palm Harbor, FL on 4/4/2009
Pros:

Cons:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

Bought this as a used demo condition snorkel. Am glad that I didn't pay full price. This snorkel is best used for light chop and light snorkel requirements while diving. Do not use this snorkel for extended shore dives or rough waters. It floods easily and while it purges well it makes usage difficult. I used both this and my hyperdry in the exact same conditions on separate days and the hyperdry didn't allow any water in the top. Folds great - and is perfect for moving out of the way - just not snorkeling.

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

I wanted a snorkel that I could put in my BCD pocket rather than wear while diving and this one works great. I have used it in several rental BCDs and it has fit in all of them. The velcro attachement makes it super easy to attach when needed.

I also have used it just snorkeling several times and it is the best snorkel I have used. Even in waves it stays very dry. I was worried it would flop around a bit, but it works as well as my rigid snorkels.

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

Sticks to your mask like glue. Some find it hart to detach, but I don't just gotta have fingernails.

The elastic wrap isn't fancy, and I'm concerned about losing it since it's not attached to anything.

Snorkel works fine. No complaints.

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

I hate snorkles, but this is the exception. The permanent mask velcro attachment stays put and holds tight. Snorkel folds neatly and fints in a BC pocket. The included strap holds it folded nicely.

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic POCKET Snorkel:

Both my girlfriend and I have one of these as we don't like wearing a snorkel when diving, however you never know when you may be in for a surface swim. This folds up and fits in a bcd pocket nicely. It also features oceanic's handy quick attach/detatch velcro system.

I'm usually not fussy about snorkels, however I did find this a little wet, compared to others I have used. My girlfriend however is the fussiest when it comes to snorkels and she quite likes this one..... so, as with lots of things, each to their own. The convenience factor far outweighs any drawbacks.

Great answer to the question: whether to carry a snorkel or not while diving. Folds easily into my BC pocket.

I also like the velcro mask attachment system, no fumbling with a clip.
