The FINIS Center Mount Swimmer's Snorkel over the face design allows a swimmer to use goggles while swimming with a snorkel. This design reduces drag and tension otherwise felt with side mount snorkels. Swimmers with neck, back, or shoulder problems can swim with reduced tension on the injured area because they do not have to turn their head to breathe.

Allowing the swimmer to keep their face down in the water and concentrate on andwatch their stroke is a great way to improve on stroke mechanics. With significant training, proper stroke technique, body position, balance, and streamline positioning can be committed to memory. In freestyle, a coach can observe head position and body roll. In butterfly, the swimmer can concentrate on finishing the arm stroke by eliminating the effort involved in the breathing cycle.

Using a snorkel forces the lungs to work harder and increases aerobic conditioning. The distance the air has to travel to get to and from the lungs isincreased by the length of the snorkel. This forces the swimmer to develop a stronger inhale and exhale while swimming. As the lungs develop, fewer breaths will be needed for each lap, which will reduce times. Because dead air can be trapped in the snorkel, the lungs also learn to buffer CO2 which can greatly assist in hypoxic development. Training with a snorkel can be considered similarto altitude training.

The snorkel can be used at all times or for specific sets. As the lungs develop, longer sets will become easier. Completing a flip turn requires the swimmer to exhale through the nose. A nose clip may be necessary in the beginning until thetechnique is developed. Snorkel has a medical grade silicone mouthpiece for maximum comfort and durability. Snorkel is equipped with a one-way purge valve for easy clearing of water in the tube.

Comments about Finis Finis Swimmers Snorkel Blue:

A VERY long snorkel...alows swimming 6 inches below the surface while still breathing...I added the Dry Top accessory to is...it is seriously low drag, that alows you to surface dive and resurface with a dry snorkel. Due to the length, it takes alittle more effort breathing.[@] with any questions...No leaks...fits over my masks and goggles.

Love it

Comments about Finis Finis Swimmers Snorkel Blue:

This snorkel has allowed me to concentrate on the swimming and exercise component of my activity. Initially I had a problem with the snorkel taking on water, and once that happens it's impossible to purge the water without coming up from the water and letting it drain. I have noted however, that the snorkel doesnt seem to take on any water unless it started with some water in it. When I started using this snorkel, I used to dunk the snorkel in the pool water to cleanse/prime it. Each time, the unit would start accumulating water after a few laps. Now I just dip the rubber mouthpiece in the water prior to use, and dont submerge ANY part of the snorkel. Water accumulation hasnt happened again.

Comments about Finis Finis Swimmers Snorkel Blue:

I am an advanced swimmer for fitness. I got the Finis snorkel because I felt that it would be more balanced for me. It leaks at the connection from the mouth piece to the breathing tube. I've had to seal it a number of times, it's hard to find a waterproof sealer. Right now I've got loctight on it. I've tried two different Finis snorkels, I thought that the first one that I got was just a fluke, but the second one leaked/flooded as well. I think it's a design problem. It also seems to leak at the relief valve at the bottom of the snorkel. It's easy to get it in there cockeyed and then it leaks for sure. I'd try a different "front" model if I could find one, they seem to be a little rare.

Sorry I am having trouble with it.

Sorry but I would not remcomend or buy another. First, it hurts my forhead and second having the snorkal in front of my face blocks my view. Leisure Pro recommed this one because of my neck problems. Yes the snorkal will help my neck problem, but I don't like this one because of where it mounts and blocks my veiw.

At first I used it to improve my stroke but soon realized how great it was for losing weight. I lossed 30 lbs in 3 months. Unfortunately I'm unable to get to the pool any more, cause I know I would have lossed even more weight. I'm currently loaning it out to a friend to see what results she has.
