Very Nice Regulator. Breathing adjustment has a large range of resistance. The under arm hose design is very comfortable with minimal tugging and less chance of snagging. Only problem I had was the purge button is pretty stiff. I rarely use it and it does not effect the manual purge. I can not say if all of them are like this, but mine is. Breathing feels very nice and the mouthpiece is comfortable. One recommendation I would make is to save up a little extra money and go for the SR-1.

After heavy research I selected the Maximus due to one feature. The underarm cabling. It was everything I wanted it to be. Easy to use, easy on the the jaw, and very easy to find. No more arm sweeping to find the reg. It was always by my right leg. Purchased 2 when they came on sale. Looking for more for my kids dive bag.

I am a Padi Instructor and have over 3500 dives. I have used the Sherwood Maximus for over eight years. Service is easy to have done anywhere along with parts if needed. Just returned from Palau and the maximus was the only reg that allowed you to turn your head from side to side in the current. And low drag with the under arm low pressure hose.

Now I'm not one to put the ducks nuts in my mouth, but, for the maximus, I'll make an exception. Great design. A little bit of adjusting to be done to get it comfortable and not pulling, but once there, easy and effortless breathing awaits. And as expected, the underarm design is perfect for wreckies and cave divers. But don't discount it for recreational divers. Under the arm just means it's one more thing out of the way, which can only be a good thing.
LPro. Brilliant as always. Two big boxes, NY to Bris with in two weeks. All my dive buddies now shop at Leisure Pro.
Comments about Sherwood Sherwood Maximus Regulator,:
This is without a doubt the best reg around that I have used. I have used it wreck diving at 58 metres, in cold climate 7 Deg Celsius and tropical diving all without fail ever. The best feature would have to be the way the hose drops under your arm, unlike all other regs that come from the side over your shoulder. In dark, cramped conditions if your reg falls from your mouth, touch your thigh and there it is. I will be buying another one soon for another rig setup, these are the best by far that I've used.

Very comfortable is this T-mode hose, and +/- regulator is in good place. so I like this design very well.

Purchased two of these regs one for myself and one for my wife. After recently getting our nitrox cert. it was time to up grade our equipment. I'm gald we did. I did ice rescue training with the local fire department in January at 15 degree air temp with 16 inches of ice we cut through to access water. The maximus performed flawlessly. Three weeks later my wife and I were in Bonaire in 80 degree water and got in 38 dives. Again the Maximus proved flawless. Easily adjustable and by far the most comfortable reg I have ever used. The under the arm routing and swivel on the second stage are the icing on the cake. Love my Maximus.

Great reg. for the money. Can't beat the 2 HP and 5 LP ports.--Uniquely two of the LP ports have been machined with wider bores for increased breathe rates (e.g. use them for primary/secondary) Regulator breathes easy at depth and on the surface and doesn't free flow (least not yet)--I couldn't be more pleased.

This is one flexible and versatile regulator. Lots of ports. 2nd stage swivels so can be adjusted in a lot of ways. Adjustments for breathing resistance. Worth the extra price.

Fit comfortable and is "easy" on the Jaws. Many ports makes easy configuration streamline setup.
A bit heavy though.

This is my second Sherwood Maximus in 20 years. I wore the first one out without any problems from it at all. The new one I recently purchased performs as well as the older model or even better. The under arm hose design with the swivel fitting makes all the difference in the world. A great value.

Comments about Sherwood Sherwood Maximus Regulator,:
My regulator is used from pool training dives to half way around the world.I want a regulator that will not fail me in a remote location. I want to be able to fix problems if they occur in the field. This can not be done with most regulators. My regulator has to stand up to harsh conditions and be ready when I want to dive. The Maximus is that and more.

Comments about Sherwood Sherwood Maximus Regulator,:
This is a fantastic regulator that is both bulletproof and simple in design (K.I.S.S.). I have been diving since 1985 and own many different regulators. I’ve owned Dacor Pacers, US Divers Conshelf (another bulletproof design), Scubapro MK10 G250, MK20 D400. This is the regulator I choose in the most difficult conditions. It is the only regulator I trust for are annual new years dive in Lake Michigan and under the ice in quarries. I own two different generations of this regulator and both work very well but the newer design is more comfortable with its low profile design. Sure the Scubapros I own are better performers at depth but I had one freeze up on me and in cold water. The moisture retention fins work very well at keeping your breathing comfortable. “Back in the day” a lot of regulators were made out of brass so moisture retention was not that big a deal. I recommended this regulator on the grounds that it can be used below the Polar Ice Caps and equally as well in the Grand Bahamas. A regulator for all environments!

Comments about Sherwood Sherwood Maximus Regulator,:
I just got certified and didn't know alot about regulators and such, but I tried out several and this was by far my fav.!! In my class we used the Oasis and I thought it couldn't get much better but I bought this one from leisurepro and I was wrong! It is better! It has all the pros of the oasis, with less jaw fatigue, and I love being able to have the hose under my arm and out of the way. I have convinced all of my diving buddies to get one aswell. I LOVE IT!!!

Comments about Sherwood Sherwood Maximus Regulator,:
I have been diving for 28 years. I recently purchased this product based in part on the representation that it had five LP ports and two HP ports. When I received the actual device, it became clear that there were two "proprietary" PL1 ports which had, according to Sherwood's literature, supposed advantages of providing more air from the tank under certain specifically delineated circumstances. What was wholly unclear was whether one could use these ports as industry standard LP ports. Needless to say, connecting the wrong hose (be it from a BCD inflator hose, a depth gauge/dive computer or an octupus) to the wrong regulator port is a dangerous proposotion to put it mildly. This [...] regulator interjects confusion by shipping with a 12 page user manual that spends most of its time pronouncing the boilerplate puffery about how dangerous diving is, and precious little time about the technical intricacies of the regulator itself. I would steer clear of the device.

Hassle free easy breather under arm hose and swivel is really comfortable, the first stage has lots of ports to cover any set-up. the second stage is light weight and very low profile.
