The GT3 adjustable second stage is paired with the CDX5 first stage for a high performance regulator system without a high price.
SECOND STAGE
The GT3 is one of Oceanic's easiest breathing second stages. It offers diver adjustable inhalation, which desensitizes the second stage so it won't freeflow during shore entries or long surface swims. Additionally, the GT3 has Oceanic's patented Dynamic Adjustment feature. This allows a diver to set a preferred breathing resistance. You won't have to make the adjustment more than once, the GT3 maintains the setting no matter how deep or how shallow you go.
One of Oceanic's lightest and most compact second stages, the GT3 weighs just 5.8 ounces; the front of the super sturdy ABS/polycarbonate housing is only 2.67 inches in diameter.
Its lightweight and anatomically designed mouthpiece translate into a second stage that doesn't cause jaw strain, even during long dives.
FIRST STAGE
The CDX5 first stage is made of chrome plated marine brass and has a balanced diaphragm. With this design water doesn't enter the first stage, which means the CDX5 is excellent for ice diving (it won't freeze up) or diving in waters filled with contaminants or sediment (it won't corrode). Weighing 29 ounces, the CDX5 is one of Oceanic's heaviest first stages. As is the GT3, it comes ready to use with air or nitrox mixtures up to 40 percent. Two high pressure and four low pressure ports assure a place for all your necessities and accessories.

I've used this regulator on over 60 dives in a wide variety of conditions and it has performed flawlessly on every dive. I have used it in 40 degree water and on dives as deep as 145 feet and it has always breathed with minimum effort. The first stage is heavy but it is also durable and the dry valve is a great feature. For the price this is one of the best regulators on the market.

I selected this product after plenty of research - and then was offered an amazing price at LP, so it was a no brainer to buy. Being a beginner at the time I didn't want to buy something overly expensive, yet didn't want something cheap.
This reg delivers quality on every dive - it breathes smoothly and easily. Highly recommended.
I would suggest that the mouthpiece be changed, I added a Comfo-Bite due to jaw fatigue, however you may not get that. Also, the hose is maybe a little too short. Other than that it is a pleasure to dive with.

1st stage is heavy but rugged, reliable and environmentally sealed - ideal for coldwater, ice-diving, or diving in heavy silt environments. Nitrox compatible and has lots of ports. Second stage is very comfortable and breathes easily. The pre-dive adjustment knob is small and difficult to operate with heavy gloves or mitts on, but they always are - regardless of manufacturer - and you don't really need it anyways. Sleek design, looks pretty good too.

I have 2 of these, I use one on a pony bottle. Used it in 39 degree water with no problems as well as 95ft.

Love this product, used it in cold Monterey and was able to adjust ease of breathing for the depth that I was diving. I also love the DVT technology, no worrying about getting the first stage wet while connecting or unconnecting to the tank. I look forward to many years with this regulator.

Very nice to use. Breathes very nicely with no problems from me. I personally would prefer a longer hose for it however.
