SECOND STAGE
Introduced in 1989, the Delta has been refined and updated over the years. The latest version, the Delta 4, is one of only two Oceanic second stages with AVS the Adjustable Venturi System. This allows the diver to adjust inhalation effort so the second stage won't freeflow during shore entries or long surface swims. Additionally, the Delta 4 has Oceanic's patented Dynamic Adjustment feature. This lets a diver set breathing resistance. The adjustment only needs to be made once; the Delta 4 maintains the setting no matter the depth of the dive.
The Delta 4's ABS/Polycarbonate housing and anodized aluminum cover ring are exceptionally tough. They weigh just 6.8 ounces and, along with orthodontic mouthpiece, produce minimal jaw fatigue no matter the length of the dive.
FIRST STAGE
The FDX10 offers a balanced diaphragm and is made of forged marine brass. It features DVT (Dry Valve Technology), an innovative design that keeps moisture and contaminants out of the first stage, even if you forget to put the dust cap on. This means internal components remain corrosion and bacteria free. It also means the FDX10 is excellent for ice diving (it won't freeze up) or diving in waters filled with contaminants or sediment (it won't corrode).
The DVT system helps keep air flow to the diver unrestricted. It starts to work as soon as the dive is over, before the regulator is even removed from the tank.
At 28 ounces, the FDX10 is one of Oceanic's lightest weight first stages. As is the Delta 4, it comes ready to use with air or nitrox mixtures up to 40 percent. Two high pressure and four low pressure ports assure a place for all your necessities and accessories.

I replaced an Oceanic Omega II system two years ago and was pleasantly surprized at how much easier this breaths. Unfortunately, it freeflowed on me twice on a recent wreck diving trip in Tobermory Ontario with less than 40 degree F water temperatures. I switched the second stage back over to the old Omega II for the rest of the trip and had no problems. Another diver had a Delta 3 which is basically the same 2nd stage design without the swivel and the same thing happened. Surprized the Navy and NOAA rated it so high for extreme cold. The Omega II went 18 years without an extreme cold freeflow in temperatures as low as 34 degrees.

I was looking for a first reg for my PADI Advanced Open Water course and something that would work well for Caribbean travel along with cool water Lake Michigan and NC wreck diving.
I took a look at the Apeks which came highly recommended by the dive instructors and was on the verge of purchasing it. But it seemed a little bulky and then a friend of mine did an ice diving course in Minnesota last February and said that of the 30-regs used by the class, the only two to freeze up and free-flow were Apeks.
After seeing the Delta-4 was the cold water choice of NOAA, seemed smaller & lighter, and came with a swivel joint and 1st-stage "DVT" technology, I decided to "take the plunge". I'm not disappointed.
So far after 5-dives, the Oceanic reg worked flawlessly. Easy and consistant breathing even at 80-feet in 46-degree water. It tends to free-flow at the surface if not pointed down but has a little lever to flip over which stops it.
The breathing effort is adjustable with a large knob on the left side. I played around with this at depth and couldn't figure out any reason to have it turned up to anything but the lightest setting. Cranked down, it takes a large effort to inhale and almost gave me an "out-of-air" feeling so I just left it full stop the easy-breathe direction.
Jaw fatigue was minimal. The swivel joint really helps get a good angle and it's what I'd call a mid-size so it's a good compromise between the mini "micros" and the rental "sherman tanks".
I did notice a little "gurgle" from time to time on the inhale suggesting I wasn't getting a complete purge from the exhaust valve, but it's more of a curiosity at this point and could have been due to my body position or a slight obstruction from my hood chin, so I'm not too concerned abou it at this point.
I'm looking forward to years of diving with this reg!

If you ever get jaw fatigue this is for you it has a swivel on second stage to prevent it and also the Dry Valve Technology prevents dirt from getting in the first stage

Bought an Apex as a second reg after already owning the Delta 4. LDS insisted Apex would outperform. Not the case - not even close. Have used many times below 100 ft. cold water (Lake Michigan). Looking to get another Oceanic. Much more comfortable in the mouth and smaller. Wish it had the dry technology for DIN. Many dozens of dives with no problems.

This Reg is used by NOAA, US Navy's Experimental Diving Unit and the US Coast Guard for cold water diving when water temps will be 50 degress F or colder. The Delta 4 / FDX-10 was chosen after being picked the best on every test per their guide lines over all regs tested. To me this says it's at the top of the class.
I've used it in very cold deep water and it gave me all the air I asked it to give.

This is by far one of the best regulators on the market today. I have been using this regulator for about 3 years and yet to find something wrong with it.
This regulator was chosen by NOAA to be its freezing water reg for research diving in Alaska. That says something.

Great reg., cant ask for much better. Easily adjustable and breathes with little to no effort. I have yet to take it deep or extream cold but it will happen soon.
I added a Seacure mouthpiece cause I have Popping jaw disorder. Now I have the most comfortable reg. set-up I have ever used.

I used this product in freash water and been used ones on ice diving ,really cold condition did not freez up worked fine...For warm condition also worked fine.Its really good stuff...

This is a very good regulator. Swival is great for finding the right position, very comfortable. No matter the depth are rate of breathing feeds you all the gas you can handle. Sealed 1 stage plus DVT.

LIKE THE SWIVEL, ADJUSTABLE, USED IN WARM AND COLD WATER AND VARIYING DEPTHS AND CONDITIONS ONLY DONFALL IT IS NOT METAL SO YOU DO GET MORE OF A DRY MOUTH THAN YOU DO WITH AN ALL METAL.

my buddy and I both have this reg, they are great to dive with in all conditions. However, the 2nd stage diaphrams are noisy and a bit of a wet breathe when inverted. If i was buying again I'd get a Legend with ACD instead, not because this is bad, but because it's better.

Started as beginner easily adjustable for when you are learnign adjust up or down for depth or as you learn to control your breathing. Highly recommend to any level of diving experience.
