The Alpha 8 second stage and the PX3 first stage offer excellent performance and a low price. In addition, it's economical to maintain because replacement parts are so inexpensive. The Alpha 8/PX3 can be used with air or nitrox mixtures up to 40 percent right out of the box.
SECOND STAGE
The Alpha 8's super sturdy ABS/Polycarbonate composite housing weighs just six ounces and measures just more than two and three-quarter inches in diameter. Even the ring that holds the cover in place is feather light, it's made of anodized aircraft aluminum. The lightweight material and anatomically designed mouthpiece translate into a second stage that won't cause jaw strain.
FIRST STAGE
The 29 ounce PX3 first stage is machined of marine brass and chrome coated. It features a balanced piston, designed to deliver a constant supply of air no matter how deep you dive, how hard you work or how little breathing gas remains in your tank. Since the piston is the only moving part in the first stage, internal wear is minimized and performance is maximized. The low pressure ports there are five are on a swivel, allowing for custom positioning of the hoses for power inflators, the Alpha 8 second stage, an octopus regulator and any other accessory you desire A rubber sleeve protects the high pressure ports from bumps and dings.

Very easy breathing. Jaw Fatigue was an issue and strongly recommend changing it before diving. Did do intensive research and found that reg is very resonable to have serviced. Very dependable and lightweight. Great item & can't go wrong with the price!

Ease of breathing at depth with it being balanced. Got to change out the stock mouth piece but other than that it’s a very good product. and ive also done some research and its very cheep to get these worked on if something does go wrong.

This reg is one a many Oceanic regs I own. It's characteristics are much better that the SP5 for just a small increase in price. It out preforms some of my more pricey Oceanic regs. I have heard that Oceanic stands behind their products, but I must say that I have never had to put this to the test. They are built to last.

The only thing I see wrong with this was that right out of box, it breathed funny.... as long as you were level in water, it breathed fine. When you were to dive head first down, it was like very hard to get air. But over all not bad for the price for a beginner or to have as a back-up rig.

Just finished a week of diving in Bonaire with this regulator.
Depths to 85 ft.
Performed much better than my more expensive Zeagle.
