Although being without a power inflator really makes you tune you neutral bouyancy skills, I will be replacing these. The worst part is since your BC and your regulator hoses are modified, you can't just borrow a new regulator (no inflator connector) or just a BC (no octo). So you have to dive a completely different rig. Not what you want after you paid Zeagle prices! I've been lucky that I haven't been doing any complex dives when these have failed (free-flowed).

Great Product!!! Set it up with the Zegale Flat Head 7 and your ready to go!!! You also lose an extra hose.

If one less hose is your goal then this air source fits the bill. However I found it uncomfortable because of the short hose, it pulled on the mouthpiece , compared to an octo alone. The inflator/deflator was easy to use. If you never have ot use it for breathing then it doesnt matter,but thats a gamble you may not want to take.

Most of my dives for small item recovery is spent in the mud. My octo's were becoming fouled every dive. The zeagle octo z can be placed out of hams way and still be available.

This is not an alternative to an octopus, but an additional second stage to use as a redundancy in your setup. That being said, this is a great product to serve that purpose.

I bought this octo-inflator mainly for warm/shallow water to elimiate the extra hose/drag. I ended up keeping it w/my technical setup (cave/wreck) since it introduces very little drag/failure versus the benefit of 3rd air source.

Disclaimer: I am new to diving, having just certified a few weeks ago while on vacation in St. Martin.

I purchased this with my first set of gear, and my use of it thus far is limited to wringing it out in the pool, yesterday. I tried everything I could think of to get it to free flow, without success. I like the fact that I will *always* know where it is and be able to confidently grab and use it with ease, in less than 3 seconds. Having one less hose coming off of the first stage is a plus; that's one less potential failure point. Of course, it breathes a good bit harder than a primary, but in my opinion this is desirable to lower the likelihood of a freeflow event; I had no problem getting as much or little flow from it, as desired. The hose connection to the BCD is a big plus too, it makes THOROUGHLY rinsing and draining the BCD a piece of cake. Not only that, by keeping the LP inflator hose always connected to the power inflator - you can rest assured it won't get any sand, dirt or other "stuff" in the fittings, thus increasing the likelihood of a failure of the power inflator valve (imagine if a piece of dirt causes that valve to stick open while at depth - yikes!).

In training, we were equipped with standard alternate air sources. I didn't care for them at all. This is definitely the way for me to go; I think you may find the same.

This is a nice little octo. Fits well with my Zeagle Ranger LTD '09 BCD and helps reduce the clutter of hoses. Breathes quite well even at larger depths.

This item is great with one less hose that is one less thing to get caught on something expecially when doing black water diving.

If you do not have an air 2 system, this is the one to get. It comes with a kit so that you can mount it to any BC and being able to take it off is great. You don't have to worry about banging it around with your BC it can stay with your regs. Also the hook up will allow you to flush your vest with a garden hose and it is easier to drain water. Like all air 2 systems it is a pain if you have to ascend using it (I've done it only with a dive buddy at shallow depths). Your head movements are limited, but to eliminate an extra hose it is worth it.

like all the alternative air sources on the Market the octo Z suffers the same problem"short hose" this restricts head movement slightly.Very easy to breath through at depth 0 to 30mtrs+ and also upside down!(i had to try it to see if i'd buy for my wife,Tried it in Eygpt.)excellent product! I have Atomic for Primary and Zeagle for Secondary not alot of difference.Recommended!
