It's a beautiful little thing, I highly recommend it. Never used Sherwood products before in 28 years of diving but this one has me impressed; first time using an in-line octo and will never use anything else. If you're looking for an in-line octo to upgrade this is the one to go with.

This octo delivers. Breathes just fine for an octo, have not had it free flow at all, and since it sits in line with the BCD inflator hose, I always know it is exactly in the same place all the time (and not loose dragging in the sand when my out of air buddy grabs my 2nd stage out of my mouth). An unobtrusive octo that you can quickly get to your mouth at a fraction of the cost of an air integrated BCD inflator, and this stays with your reg if you swap between multiple BCDs like I do.

With the airlines current practice of imposing fees for excess or overweight baggage, the Sherwood Shadow Plus Octo is a nice product. It eliminates the excess weight and bulk of a traditional octo. Hoses are heavy. I have always used an air 2 type system, but have never liked that fact that I cannot quickly interchange my regulator with a BCD that isn't equipped with an air 2. The Shadow Plus solves this problem by making the alternate air a component of the regulator rather than the BCD. It is very compact and doesn't get in the way at all. It has easy access and never ends up dangling behind you. I haven't experienced any freeflow issues. The only negative comment I have is that it is slightly more difficult to breath through than my primary. But hey, its a back up system that is not intended to used under normal circumstances. For a back up system, I can deal with this.

One less hose to keep track of for my dry suit setup, and is pretty easy to retrieve, so long as you remember where to look in an emergency. breaths as easy as my primary (older Sherwood Magnum II).

Nice slim and good design. I little bigger than I had thought, but its great that its part of my reg and not the BCD. This way I can easily change between BCDs.

I bought the Shadow Plus for two reasons. It can be used with more than one BCD without buying an air source for each one and it is Sherwood. So far I've only used it with my primary BCD, but it works great and is highly visible and easy to use.

While I do love that this stream lines the equipment more, I have come aware of one huge setback of the design. When you need to ascend with it, it is awkward if you need to inflate your BCD, as the button is next to your mouth and you must hold it there unless you take the time to readjust the cable. Seeing as it is just an alternative air source, this is not a huge deal, at the end it does what it is designed to do. Does not free flow, easily attaches, and is convienantly out of the way when you want it to be. I would recommend simply for that.

This is a super easy way to reduce the number of lines running from the 1st stage. It is your LP inflator hose and your octo. It is easy to install into the 1st stage, and plugs into your BC inflator just like a LP line. Streamlined and easy. Also its Sherwood, so it will probably last forever. My son is still diving with my 1983 Sherwood Magnum!

This octo is perfect in that it eliminates a hose and it is always in the same spot; easy to access. The draw back is you have to give u your good second stage when buddy breathing; but considering how often that happens it is no big deal and well worth the other advantages.

This is a replacement for a Genesis Scuba Integrated Octo. This unit is not just a replacement but is superiour in every way. The power inflator hise is of correct lenght, the Minimus style second stage works like a champion.

Slim,Safe,SECURE! It's always there if/when I need it. Never dangles to entangle or damage coral or anything else because it is secure. It breathes as safe as an octo should. Can't beat the price. Travel versitility when compared to permanently installed inflator/octos.

The only real issue I have with this octo is the way the mouthpiece sticks out from the inflator, but it's still a great way to keep your secondary source close at hand and eliminate another hose to tangle with your other gear or the dive environment.

This is a great solution for sport and solo divers. If you primary goes out or a buddy needs air, pop this in your mouth and surface at a normal pace. Why have a full alternate 2nd stage if you are just going to surface if you you need to use it? NOTE: You should orient every new buddy that, should you need to share air, they get your primary, not your alternate.

This has the features that I want for an emergency/alternative air source: compact, always in a predictable position, inches from my mouth, eliminates one hose and fits nearly all systems. I have used it in emergency situations and it is perfect. It is not made to have all the comforts of a standard second stage reg - it is for emergency situations. When I have been with panicked divers, they reach for my standard reg anyway - so I give that to them and use the Shadow. Other combined alt/air+BC combinations work and are good if you are shopping a new BC. But the Shadow fits nearly all. ja
