Comments about Mares Mares Proton Octopus:
Again, another product holding up to the Mares name. I trust this octopus to work when it absolutely needs to. When I first had this octopus I breathed on it for about 5 minutes during a dive and have to say that it is better than some primary regulators out there.

Comments about Mares Mares Proton Octopus:
I normally use this octopus attached to my pony bottle. It has solid construction, it's compact, it's dry and easy breathing.

Comments about Mares Mares Proton Octopus:
One of the very durable octopuses that stand even the harshest user who bumbs it here and there.
Comments about Mares Mares Proton Octopus:
I dive the beaches of Southern California 2-4 times per week. I loved the compact design of this octo but after 20+ dives on it I've had a free flow problem that I can't correct and I'll have to have it serviced. I'd probably buy another model if I had to do it again.
Comments about Mares Mares Proton Octopus:
Nice octo second stage. Hope to never need it but I definitely know it will work when I do. Mares makes very good quality equipment and this proton is definitely very well made. I highly recommend it.
Comments about Mares Mares Proton Octopus:
Nice compact reg that fits nicely out of the way.
Comments about Mares Mares Proton Octopus:
I'd gotten complaints about my original octo (the LPO), and so stepped up to this one based upon the recommendation of a friend who dives with the Proton as his primary. It's lightweight, easily visible, and breathes well. Unfortunately, it's been somewhat prone to free-flowing, so much so that I wound up using it as my primary on a recent dive trip. I wouldn't have expected, but it performed very well as a primary. Under rare demanding conditions, it could have breathed a little bit easier (I'm thinking of possibly panicked buddies here), but that would probably only exacerbate the free-flowing. Overall, though, this is an awesome octo (and a pretty good primary).
