Brand: Cressi
Located in: Essential Equipment, Octopuses
The Ellipse octopus uses the same elliptical housing as the Ellipse model second-stage regulator which is made from hi-tech polymers. The octopus model has a bright yellow purge cover and hose for easy identification in an out of air emergency. The octopus hose is 39" (100 cm) in length.

All the internal components of the Ellipse octopus are the same as those found in the standard Ellipse; making periodic service parts the same as the primary regulator. Although the initial opening effort of the octopus regulator is set slightly higher than the primary Ellipse, once the valve has open the air is channeled by injection to the liquid silicone mouthpiece creating a venturi-effect enhancing the performance. On the top of the housing there is a flow deviator that acts on the Venturi effect, with dive/pre-dive switch.

The Ellipse octopus is factory set to work with a supply pressure between 130 to145 psi (9 to 10 bars) and will work well with Cressi first-stage regulators andany other manufacture with similar first-stage supply (intermediate) pressures.

Comforting for both my Dive buddy and I to know that we have a Cressi-Sub Ellipse Octopus available should my buddy run out of air or something ever goes wrong with my primary regulator. Just the peace of mind that this Octopus will never fail you when you need it most.

Perfect companian for Ellipse Titanium
By TGreeneVerified Reviewer from Jonesboro, AR on 11/25/2008
Pros:
Easy To Connect, Easy To Retrieve, Easy To Use, Reliable
Cons:
Uncomfortable Mouthpiece
Describe Yourself:
Novice Diver
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cressi Cressi Ellipse Octopus:

This is obviously the perfect companion Octo for my Ellipse Titanium Alaska setup, which is why I purchased it. I also added a 360* swivel and a longer mouthpiece for added comfort and to most closely duplicate my primary setup, because I'm a firm believer in redundancy and familiarity. For all practical purposes since I've had my Ellipse Titanium tightened up a bit, at this point the only noticeable difference between my primary and this Octo is a few grams and the color.

Comments about Cressi Cressi Ellipse Octopus:

Very reliable octopus. I use it with the Cressi-Sub Ellipse Alaska Regulator so it can also be used in cold water and extreme depth. During rescue szenarios it the hose was long enough and during the dive not too long.

Comments about Cressi Cressi Ellipse Octopus:

The all plastic design scared me the first time I had it serviced, I dove a conshelf for years, but it breathes EASY. It has a limited warranty of 12 months, but if you buy a Zeagle you get a limited LIFETIME warranty.

Cressi-Sub Ellipse Octopus
By PaoloVerified Reviewer from New York on 9/7/2007
Pros:
Comfortable, Nitrox Compatible
Cons:
Free flowing, Purge difficult
Best Uses:
Recreation, Warm Water
Describe Yourself:
Beginner, Recreational Diver
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cressi Cressi Ellipse Octopus:

Although the thing is supposed to have a pre-dive mode to prevent free-flows, I found it to go on free-flow quite often. The purge button needs to be pressed with a hammer to operate.

Good Octo
By Jolly RogerVerified Reviewer from Baytown, TX on 7/20/2007
Pros:
Adjustable, Comfortable, Nitrox Compatible
Best Uses:
Cold Water, Extreme Depths, Professional, Recreation, Warm Water
Describe Yourself:
Advanced Diver
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cressi Cressi Ellipse Octopus:

This thing breaths really good and is adjustable to prevent free flow. Its light in your mouth which reduces fatigue. The only negative is the very small area that you have to push for purging. You have to get your finger on it just right or your pushing on the body of the reg too and not getting much purge.
