The Legend Octopus is a pneumatically balanced second stage with a high-visibility yellow cover ring and 39" yellow hose. It is the ideal compliment to all over-balanced Legend Series Regulators and the Titan LX. Its compact-size with all the superior breathing characteristics of the Legend series air balanced and ideally suited for the Legend over-balanced first stage. Diver-controlled Venturi Adjustment Switch (VAS) reduces sensitivity to free flow on the surface and provides maximum airflow at depth, and is designed for use in cold water.

Well designed and reliable. Used it on a night dive and did not notice much performance difference form my primary. Should be a good companion to Legend LX during lake dives this winter.

I have used this in classes and training and it works. I have had this free-flow on me a few times. If you are looking to get a rig together with minimal cost I would highly recommend this.

Since then I have discovered inflaters that are also a secondary air source. I just purchased the Atomic SS1, Titanium. This allows me to get rid of a separate hose all together. In the case of need, hand your primary to your buddy, and use the Safe Secondary Inflater for yourself.

For me the less hoses the better, but like I said if you are on a budget this will get the job done for a fair price.

Obtaines as part of Legend LX ACD rig to use for open water cert & vacation dive. Never got around to trying octopus, but didn't have any problems with it. Seemed to work OK for buddy during course.

As good as it gets. This Octo is ready to go where ever you go including cold water. If you dive cold water this and the Glacia are the best backups. For what it gives you the size doesn't realy bother me but the small compact ABS are nice and easy to tuck away. I would still chose this one or the Glacia for cold water period!

Never had to use it in anger, but it is very reassuring to have such a quality component there in case a buddy needs it.

My aqualung regulators are really really good.

This was a natural choice as an Octo for my Legend primary reg. It is essentially the same breather and you will get the smae performance and feel. Unfortunately, it does not come with (at least mine did not) the comfo-bite mouthpiece that I love. However, if you are looking for an Octo with the same performance as your primary reg. this is it. The only drawback that I can see is the size. Being that it is the same size as the Legend, it is a little large and not quite as sleek as say, the flat ABS-type Octo.

Aqualung makes one of the best regulators on the market, yet most people don't even know it. It consistently rates at the top of Scuba Lab charts every year. This regulator has technical diving capabilities but is marketed mostly to the recreational diver. Bottom line, you can't find a better regulator and it's very well priced.
