Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14) image

(based on 57 ratings)
Brand: Tusa
Located in: Essential Equipment, Masks
The M-14 Visualator mask features an over-sized single lens and frame offering asignificant increase in vision over previous products. Additionally, the distance between the lens and the eyes has been reduced. To increase the field of vision in a mask, the lens must be brought closer to the eyes. To achieve this, the M-14's frame was made as thin as possible, and the fitting line was moved slightly to the outside. By moving the fitting line up to the middle of the forehead, the distance between the lens and the eyes is further reduced and a wider field of vision (both above and below as well as left and right) is achieved. The 5 Angle Strap Adjustor allows for a five-position micro-adjustmenton both the left and right sides of the mask. This enables vertical (up/down) and horizontal (left/right) pressure on the face to be delicately adjusted for the optimum fit. You also get a Free Save-A-Dive Kit with your mask.

I thought it was a value buy. very good range of vision and fits very well. The lens is very close to the nose so if you have big fingers it will take equalizing some getting use to. overall, im satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it.

I've been using this mask since I got certified ~4 years ago & have dove with it ~60 times. I hardly ever have fogging issues (I just spit in it) and when I do, there is usually a little water sitting at the bottom of the tear drops that you can swirl around to clear it right up.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

Lens seemed to fog up a lot more than the masks worn by the other divers on the boat. Even using some anti-fog and even good old baby shampoo wash (yes I washed it very very well before using it for the first time) didn't help much. The fogging was very frustrating b/c I was trying to take underwater photos and I had a hard to seeing around me. The view was better when I didn't use the anti-fog (which left a haze on the glass, but view was still not great.

The strap pulls the strap very tightly to the head but it still was not very easy to clear b/c it has a huge volume. The view window is actually a lot more narrow than the angled product picture would seem to indicate. If you have a big face or a big head like me, it won't look very good. I prefer masks that wrap around the temple and not the swim-goggle style mask.

The best feature is that it didn't leak.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

I own a lot of masks...indeed, I might have a mask fetish. So I was really excited to try this mask. Unfortunately, unless you have a face the size of Andre the Giant, I would not recommend it. It has the volume of a ten gallon hat.
For the price, you can get almost two Cressi Sub Big Eyes or get a BARE frameless mask at the ridiculously low Leisurepro price of about 25 clams.
Either way get your mask at Leisurepro-HUGE selection, low low prices, and a great return policy...there's no better place than L.P.!!!

I bought this item last year and have used it since. The mask fits well, lets in light well, and has high quality construction. The mask has a medium to low volume, and that is important. The fit is good for my fairly wide face. I highly recommend.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

This mask was simply awesome. I have never been able to fit a mask before due to my wide face and bone structure. All the other masks previous to this one would hurt the ridge of my nose so bad that I could only snorkel for 15-20 min. However the Tusa Visualator was a perfect fit and very comfortable. Yeh, now I can snorkel again

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

I purchased & reviewed this mask almost 2 years ago to the date and it's still the best mask I have. I had some fogging issues in the beginning, but they cleared up with use. Back in September 2008, I went diving in Cozumel and I took this mask along as a backup to a 3 window frameless mask I bought. What a life saver! The frameless fogged up like crazy and I was having small leak issues. I ended up doing 6 dives and some snorkelling with the M14 without a single problem. This year for the Bahamas, the M14 is running primary and I'm purchasing another one as backup. Still the best mask I have found since the old Dacor.

This is my second time around with this mask. I really like it...a lot! My first was lost at a dive site, and I couldnt wait to replace it. One note, I have a large round face. I have a really hard time getting a good fit and this does the trick. A smaller face may have issues. As I have said before, the size of the glass gives such a wide field of view, it is incredible.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

After doing research on the net, I decided the Visualator was the mask for me. I have been diving with TUSA mask for 12 years and I read this mask was good for mellon heads like myself. I recieved one and upon opening the package, I discovered the nose pocked seemed a little small. I tried it on and the skirt fit perfectly. Yet as I suspected my nose was a bit crowded. To the point of being annoying. I do not have a large nose and I have never had this problem with any other mask. I broke out my old Tusa mask and my wifes new M-24 and the Visulators nose pocket is indeed smaller. So while I had hoped this mask would of fit the bill, [...] It just goes to show you. No mask is perfect for everyone!

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

I'd read that this mask is better suited to "larger faces", and thought that at 6'1" 240 lbs that would be me. Not so -- my upper lip/philtrum was uncomfortably pinched between the mask skirt and regulator second stage; and the seal at the temples was less than secure. Awesome view from this mask if it fits your face, though!

I own several very expensive masks. I do DSDs with students who use my gear. The only mask that fits everyone every time is this. BTW for the folks who say it fogs more than other masks... you need to learn how to pre treat any mask before you use it. they are all the same. If you don't pre treat (scrub etc) they all fog identically. It's just glass, there is no difference. I dive in VERY COLD water, where fogging is a major issue and have NO PROBLEMS.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

I love the field of view I get from this mask! But 2 points of caution:
1) Try it on before you buy it. It definitely fits best on people with larger heads/faces.
2) If you need to squeeze your nose to equalize, then this won't be a great mask for cold water diving where you'll be wearing exposure gloves of some kind. There isn't a lot of room between the nose slot and the rim of the lenses. It's doable, but just not easy.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

I have been wearing Tusa masks since I started diving in 1988. They have always fit very well with low volume, and one really gets a lot of bang for the buck. I went to the Visulator because I was looking for a greater field of view without losing Tusa's excellent low volume characteristics.

Great mask. Much better vision and wider field. Great fit. No fogging(I use PSI on first dive of day). This mask allows more light in so that vision in poor vis is better.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

Great mask but be sure not to buy with translucent silicon skirt. It lets in glare which will effect 25-30% of the upper view area. I bought one and immediately wished it had black silicon. I plan to replace the one I got with the black silicon version.
Aside from this, I loved the mask.

I have used many different masks and I have to say that this is my favorite. Feels true to size for a high volume/large field of vision mask. As with all mask you order online you have to be ready to return if it does not fit - all masks are different! I recommend it above all others I have used.

Comments about Tusa Tusa Visulator Mask (M-14):

I got to try many masks during my snorkling days as well as the time I had with the dive shop..
I already owned a mask but had to have it very tight to keep it leakproof. Not good on the sinuses! After trying this mask I was hooked. It is on very loosely.. Meaning the band can slip off easily, but (huge one here) it doesnt leak! No red around my face when I emerge from diving. Its great! No pressure! Like all masks, test fit them before buying. This one fits me to a "T".

This mask is the perfect replacement to the old rubber Dacor mask that many old school divers were familiar with. You can't beat the field of view that this mask offers especially in murky Michigan waters.
