The Gauge Reader is a non-prescription bifocal lens. It is designed for the diver who can see well into the distance but is experiencing difficulty in reading his gauges, compass, or camera settings.

The Gauge Reader is the solution for the special needs of the diver over 40 years old. More specifically, the diver over 40 typically experiences presbyopia, which is the eyes inability to focus sharply on objects up close, such as gauges, watches, and camera settings. The Gauge Reader can also be made in the Crystal Clear lens or with the color correcting filter system. The lenses are + 2 only.

Although the lens is great, the visible bead of silicone between the lens and skirt looks amateurish and shoddy.

Comments about Sea Vision SeaVision Gauge Reader + 2.00:

I always liked my SeaVision Ultra mask with the Magenta lens but as i get older I'm having more and more trouble reading my computer even with the magnifying effect of water.

No problems now. I have both the Magenta lenses for tropical water and the Yellow lenses for everywhere else.

The only downside is the cost.

I love this mask. It allows me a better range of vision and I'm asure that I will be able to see my gauges and not worry about my bottom time because of not see my gauges and the danger of that. That's why I will always want to have two of these masks on every dive I do.

Comments about Sea Vision SeaVision Gauge Reader + 2.00:

I have always used a Seavision Ultra with magenta lenses when diving on coral reefs as the colors are wonderful. As I'm getting older, despite the magnifying effect that you get with water I'm having a harder time reading my gauges. The gauge readers work GREAT.

It also means I don't have to bring my reading glasses out on the dive boat as I can use my mask. It looks a bit dorky to read a manual or work with an allen wrench wearing your mask, but at 54 years old and married, exactly who am I supposed to impress?

I do think that the review prior to mine was a bit unfair to the mask. Clear silicone when exposed to UV radiation will change to that ugly yellowish color. That is one of the reasons that I always prefer a dark mask skirt. IMHO, I don't see how it affects the properties of the mask itself

Comments about Sea Vision SeaVision Gauge Reader + 2.00:

Quality of Material is very poor.Although the idea of the Guage Reader is wonderful. Our second purchase of a Guage Reader Classic - for my wife- was with a clear mask and strap. In less than one year, the clear mask and strap have turned a yellowish green (like pee). [...] If you are willing to have a yellowed scuzzy looking mask, go for it. The guage reader does work well but the gross-ness factor is too much to let pass.

Comments about Sea Vision SeaVision Gauge Reader + 2.00:

It is worth the expense to be able to read the gauges and know when your bottom time is up, how much air you have left or see the viewer on the camera with accuracy. Those "stick on" reading lenses don't work, or stay on well in real use.
