I bought the SOL wrist diving computer but no where in the instruction book did it say you had to buy the SMART IF device as a separate option. At first, I thought it was missing from the set. When I discovered that I also needed to buy the $68. option I was pretty upset. One would think after spending [$] for the SOL they would include the device. Dont get me wrong the SOL computer is really great!! BUT I am still trying to figure out how to use the IF device with the CD's I received so my SOL can "talk" with my laptop. Todate, I can't seem to make any sence out of it. The handbook is, at least for me useless!Even my 13 yr old computer geek can't seem to figure out how to make the SOL talk with the laptop either.I guess there are people out there who have the smarts to make the link work---but I am not one of them =(

THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR THE GALILEO S O L . i USED AN AFTERMARKET VERSION SINCE i ALREADY HAD THE PROGRAM, BUT THE IR HAD A HARD TIME WITH THE CONNECTION, PUT A CROWBAR IN THE WALLET AND SHELLED OUT FOR THE UWATECH, WORKS LIKE A CHAMP NOW !
THE PROGRAMING IS A BIT DIFFICULT FOR US COMPUTER ILLITERATES BUT IM SURE I WILL FIGURE IT OUT. NICE TO HAVE THE DATA AND i DOWN LOAD THE INFO TO A MED PROGRAM FOR AN OVERALL PHYSICAL TRAINING REGIME.

While the manuals (and all manuals from Uwatec, for that matter) could use a serious rewrite, the product performs flawlessly. One thing to note if you seem to have problems with the unit: if the red light on the IR head is "solid-on" and not blinking, the unit has frozen and needs to be unplugged and re-plugged. Other than that, it provides a seamless interface between the dive computer and your PC. Most of the functions of the Galileo are far more easily set on the PC, so you'll find this handy. Additionally, you can load B&W bitmap pictures (maps, deco tables, etc.) on your Galileo via the PC using this interface.

I use this product to synch my Scubapro Smartcom computer to my PC for tracking my dives. It works quickly and autonomously once the device is plugged into a USB port and computer is turned on. It makes inputting the technical aspects of a recent dive automatic for example, depth profile, water temp., air usage rates, etc. I bought this unit so I wouldn't have issues connecting my PC to my Smartcom.

We received the Uwatec dive computer as part of ScubaPro's promotion when we puchased equipment this fall. Our PC did not have IR. We purchased this kit. It took about 2 minutes to install and works great. Just plug it into the USB, set the dive computer by it, run SmartTrak, and computers begin talking to each other. The only downside is the [$] cost. A better option would be to have it included with dive computer.

Besides being very expensive, this product does not work with Windows Vista. If you are running Vista, you will need to get an aftermarket IR device.

I think you should have included the ability to use bluetooth with the dive computer so that we do not have to purchase an additional product. The price of the computer is enough without having to purchase the dongle.

Tried a generic product from another vendor and ended up with a virus from the driver cd and a non-working hardware piece. Decided to bite the bullet and pay the premium price for the "real deal", and do not regret it.

ifr does not seem to always connect to computer. turn your dive computer on then flipup the plastic cover on dive computer and put the ifr next to the ifr hole in dive computer and quickly hit the software key to download info from dive computer to your computer. This seems to be the best procedure to make the connection.
