Comments about Scubapro Uwatec Aladin Prime 3 Gauge Computer Console:

It's very easy to read and includes all of the features I've been wanting in a computer. I bought this to use as a backup for technical diving, but prefer this one to my old primary (now secondary, it's name is a type of snake)that it's now my main for both technical and recreational. I was concerned that it was too conservative after reading reviews, but bottom times are consistent w/other comparable devices I've used.

Had repeated fitting problems with the compass. Eventually dropped out and now lies in the depths of the Amdaman Sea in Thailand. Do not recommend the 3 in 1 configuration.

Comments about Scubapro Uwatec Aladin Prime 3 Gauge Computer Console:

The instructions for UWTEC takes getting use to. Not intuitive and one must really concentrate on reading every detail since the list of options is large.

I have gone through quite a few batteries with this unit which is not what I expected. Talking with the dive center that sold me this unit, they know that battery life is a problem with some units. I would suggest Lithium.

I wanted to upgrade to a UW TEC with transmitter but wary of the issues with their battery life. I am not sure if the newer transmitters with wrist console allow users to replace their own batteries. This is esential. This unit DOES allow one to replace their own batteries. However, my dive buddy has an older wrist unit and he has never had to replace the battery in his UW Tec unit.

The layer of Tissue Depth is adequate and the algorithm is conservative. That is the way I dive and I like it on this unit.

The software program for downloading has interference issues with some anti virus programs. You will have to start turning off these features with your computer in order to get it to work with Windows. I use XP. I am not sure if VISTA is now covered for the units being sold now.

I would recommend a notebook computer to take with you for storage of both your pictures and data download from this unit. Get a reliable notebook with hard drive for greater capacity and speed. They are lightweight and reasonable in price.
