In addition to the electronic compass, the Vyper 2 offers dive planning/profiling, which allows you to plot out your dives without getting a single drop of water on your dive gear. Pre-planning dives leads to safer and more enjoyable dives.
To the developers at Suunto, diver safety is paramount. That is why they developed the Reduced Gradient Bubble Model (RGBM), which predicts how gasses will be absorbed into the diver's body based on the progress of the dive. By tracking and predicting this absorption rate, the Vyper 2 can stay on top of decompression requirements, as well as repetitive dive calculations and rapid ascent situations.
Right out of the box, the Vyper 2 can log and store 80 hours of dive time. With a little adjusting, it can store up to 240 hours of logs. Just think of how many dives you can carry around on your wrist with this computer!

The computer is great, but the lens cover came a little scratched and the manual was in Spanish, not English. I had to download and print the English version, which wasn't a disappointing task.

It is a great computer for a very good price right now that the new Vyper Air is available. The computer has gauge mode, you can get a DSS boot with bungee cord which makes life way easier. I think it is a great buy particularily if you want an inexpensive computer that will function well in a recreational or semi-technical setup (DIR for example) and be comfortable and functional in both.
The compass is useless (I knew it when I bought it) since it needs to be in a very specific position for it to work. But you shouldn't be using your computer's compass anyhow.

I HAD A VYPER BEFORE, AND I LIKE THE VYPER2 EVEN MORE,GREAT FEATURES. THEY ARE A A BIT PRICEY AND I DON'T LIKE THE WAY SUUNTO SELLS AND WARRANTIES THERE PRODUCTS.

The computer is pretty nice. Make sure you read the instructions carefully because there the alarms can be a bit confusing.

Really good computer overall. I find it easy to read even in the low light lake dive here in Québec. The logbook turn out to be very usefull to those who want to keep a detail log of their dives. I recommand it!

You won't get a better dive computer for the money. Durable, reliable and easy to use. I have a matching wrist version that gives me the redundancy that I want.
