I am new to scuba diving, but an avid snorkeler. I have tried many fins in the past and these are the fastest, lightest most comfortable fins I have ever used. On a recent trip to the USVI my wife and I decided to get our open water certs. We both bought a set of these at our LDS (For alot more $$)and used them for 7 days straight. I am in less than great shape being 6'1" 295lbs. I NEVER felt strain, excess resistance or even tired for that matter. These are so easy to put on and pull off even under water. For the first time ever I did not have to adjust anything, and frankly did not notice them at all. The flex joints provide amazing power. Great product here.
Look at the flex in the blade

Unbelievable propulsion with minimum exertion, making for a more enjoyable dive with every use. The bungy straps are a true innovative, improvement when donning in a full wet suit with bc and tank strapped on, before entering from a boat on choppy seas from back or side exit.

I use this fin for spearfishing. It kicks easy and provides plenty of power. I also, love the fact that it already comes with a comfortable flexible heel strap, and includes a finger hole. The best investment you will ever make, you will love them!

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
AMAZING fins!! talk about some speed!! I have to watch how much kick i give to make sure I dont't leave people behind! My husband has had his for awhile and I finally decided to get a pair. People can tell you how awesome they are, but you will not believe them until you try them yourself! I only wished I had gotten them sooner, but I listened to people who said they would require alot more work on my end to get the kick going and my split fins were easier on the knees. NOT TRUE! these are easier on my knees and legs overall. No leg fatique due to less movement because they work so well! If you have a dive shop you can test some out before buying then DO IT and then get a pair! Oh and i know they don't come in colors like pink and all -- but trust me - - you won't care because you'll go so fast they never would have seen the color in the first place!

Very happy with these coming from a pair of Mares Raptor Split fins which I have enjoyed but recently was caught in high current and was handicapped significantly.
Love the weight as they are exceptionally light, and the bungee strap is super effective and simple and the way to go versus side buckles.

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
Ok, The fins are way nice. I went from cressi frogs to these and I can't even begin to explain how much better they are. however, I wear a size 10 1/2 and I was talked into getting a large. if i didnt have big booties, these fins would have been too big for me. If youre around a size 10 to 11, I would strongly suggest a medium, and if it doesnt fit, then you can just exchange them. excellent fins though. I've only done one dive with them so far, but they worked exactly as expected.
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
I used to use the older scuba pro rubber design. they are very easy to use but lack the power that these Seawing Novas have. These are great for speed and going against any current. Very happy with this purchase.

Great fin!! large foot pocket so you might want to confirm sizing prior to buying onine

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
This fin is very lightweight and have a bit of a unique design - the articulated joint really cuts down from the drag in the water, it provides a substantially noticible difference in ease from a standard paddle fin. It is every easy on the knees and I rarely have any fatigue when getting out of the water.
Design:
1) super light weight makes it great for packing
2) bungee strap is one of the best straps I have ever used, getting the fins on and off is a breeze
3) the fin has a curve on the blade that gives the most power when using a standard kick - It took time but i was able to adjust for different kicks, but the fin performs best with long slow kicks - so there is a bit of a adjustment time. Also I tend to surface swim on my back because I dont like using a snorkle and there is a noticeable difference when swimming on your back at the surface.
Usage: The amount of power that they generate is very impressive - I have virtually no leg strain or joing stiffness. For anyone with knee issues, they should seriously consider checking out this fin. It is extremely comfortable as well - accommodates my boots very well
As it stand my only issue is that the fin isn't best for surface swimming on your back, but that's a fairly negligible complaint
I wear a size 11 mens and the L fin fits me better then the M

These fins are phenomenal! Lightweight, effortless to use! Accommodates our boots well; buoyancy may need to be adjusted since these are very lightweight but that's one of the things we like about them!

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
Just purchased these and have used them for one trip to Aruba. I found the look and concept of the flexable hinge to be worth exploring. The fits any foot bungy strap makes for nearly effortless donning and removal which will come in handy in rough surf. I do a lot of free diving along the NH coast spear fishing and surf conditions can be rough. I am also working out of a Cobra ocean fish & dive kayak and think that this ease of donning will be helpful. They are light and seem slightly bouyant making for a flater free diving plane than my heavier Scuba Pro Fins. I need more than the one tropical trip to Aruba to really test out the dolphin tale like flexability with the hinge design but they worked well both diving and free diving and can be worn over dive booties or LL Bean water shoes with complete comfort. The big test will be made on my next trip to Cabo Blanco Peru, my wife's home town. The surf can be 2-4 meters there. So far I like them with a big thumbs up.

I bought the Seawing Nover fins for a trip to Cozumel in December. They were great. Felt really comfortable on every dive. Having more current this trip i was sure glad to have the extra power.I wear a size 10 U.S. and booties, the medium fit me perfectly.
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
These are the fastes and most efficient fins I have ever used. There is a slight learning curve to hovering in place with them but if you want to cover some serious water with little to no effort these are the fins for you. Worth every penny.

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
Very good light fins, easy on/off in water from boats or shore, comfortable boot pockets, great power translation with little leg movements, steer well, slight positive buoyancy not a bad thing for streamlining...Very good buy, pack lightly which is much better than the heavy Mares Raptor split fins I bought last year and never really liked...Heartily recommend...

Great fins! Little to no fatigue even after hours in the water. Easy to scoot when you need to.

These fins are awesome,i would recommend this to a friend.
You can go very fast with minimal effort and zero leg strain.
Love it..
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
I bought it as my second for when I bought a dry suit. They are shorter than Atomic split fins but not necessary more comfortable. They are more powerfull but effort which you have use is much bigger. Great for wreck or cave diving because of size but I think that for reef or just recreation the split fins are better.

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
These fins just look cool to begin with. Sure, there is a minimal learning curve...but that goes away quickly. The best trick is learning to do a kick just by moving your foot..not even your leg. You'll learn to frog kick too. In a current or drive dive, you steer like a ships rudder. And after my 4th hour long dive of the day... no leg cramps or pain. So easy to put on and remove too. Worth the cost.. and it's the cheapest here!

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
Just got these and tried them out for 6 dives before I wrote my final review because before I had only used them in a pool.
These are easy to put on. The usually response people say about open foot fins is: get some spring straps. That does NOT apply to these. These have BUNGEE straps, which are far better than spring straps. They hold tight and are easy to get in and out of and also don't give you bad blisters on the back of your foot.
They are very comfortable on your feet. Some people say it feels like nothings on your feet, but boy can you tell they are there when you start kicking and go SPEEDING by everyone else.
With these you can swim any distance, surface or submerged WITHOUT tiring out.
These are kinda weird because they "kick" for you. The hinge system is strange in that you can just move your foot up and down (not a kick movement) and the hinge will flap and prove propulsion. This comes in handy when trying to get off the bottom when you cant get in a full kick or in a tight space.
I have stepping on them on accident (as you do with regular fins) when trying to walk in shallow water and the posts do not break they are very sturdy
Definitely 5 stars for me, mainly due to the price which makes these WAYYYY better than any other option. They are also very noticeable in the water according to my dive buddy and they also come in WHITE, which would be cool but I went with black because its less unusual.
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
I got these as a second pair of fins and they are a great fin overall. Very fast with minimal effort and zero leg strain. Almost feels like they are not there. And yes, these do work for frog kick. You just have to adjust your kick motion slightly. My ONLY complaint is that they are positively buoyant. The only pair of fins I have ever used that are positively buoyant. Good news is that if you ever lose one it will be waiting for you at the surface. Bad news is that I actually felt I had to add 2 pounds of weight. Maybe that will change as I get used to them. Other than that I would have given 5 stars. The nice thing is that they weigh almost nothing so they would be great for travel. I think it will just take a little getting used to. Bungee straps are as good as steel spring straps.
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
I tested these Fins out in the pool in prepartion to my trip to the Philipinnes. These fins have a lot of thrust. Everytime I kicked, even slightly I felt pushed down the street. That at first I thought was a postive, but there is a little con caveot that must be attached. You know when your on top of the water, with normal fins, and you just relax and playfully fin a little and dont really move much, nor wish to, well not with these puppies. It made me change how I fin on top of the water, but the trade off in thrust underwater is worth it. The Nova's make the perfect travel fins, superlight, but the material felt sturdy and strong.
I did notice some leg soarness the next day, but I just think I pushed too hard. GREAT FINS!!

Very good with a flutter kick
Rumors about frog kick are not true you can frog kick it just takes a lot of practice
trying to skully kick backwards is a different story tho

Tried them out on an LDS trip and couldn't believe how much I loved them. I am not in to "the latest and greatest" gimics but these were a real upgrade.
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
Hello, I'm a commercial fisherman living in Tarpon Springs, Fl. I rented a pair of the seawing nova's and couldn't beleive the agilty these fins provide. My Sunnto cobra 3 has loged 157 dives seince i bought them in january. I couldnt be more pleased with the performance. I did notice that a lot of the water if forced downward and not outward. They do silt up the bottom quickly if you're not careful. Otherwise awsome.
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
well, lets make my story short. im a skinny guy with not alot of muscles , i get tired easily and tend to have alot of cramps. after alot of search online, it was a battle between force fins and seanova, nova won :P , they're light and generate thrust when i needed them to, i deliberately swam against currents or tried to race couple of my fellow divers, just few small fast kicks and you're gone, i tried lots of other fins, specially the rented ones "i hated them" but they were the traditional ones. sometimes i end up stuck in the current and couldn't go to my friends.
and yes, they feel weird at 1st down there.probably cuz they're positively buoyant.and the best part, when you're on a crowded boat, everyone is looking at them ;P i had to give them to couple of people to try them out. and they were impressed and thinking about getting them.

I used these fins in dives in Cozumel and Puerto Rico and they feel amazing! For those changing from a rigid fin to this style the diference is so incredible that you will look to check if the fins are still on! It takes a while to get used to how comfortable they are and I can tell you wont go back to your old pair. The fin is wider than normal so it will not fit on regular size bags/luggage but who cares when you can fly underwater? Check the review of this fin on Scuba Diving Magazine a few months back...

I am a Dive Master and would've scored these fins off the charts until today! One broke at the hinge as a result of some hard current diving yesterday. Lucky for me one broke during a recreational shore dive coming back in. I have less than 100 dives on these fins. Going back to my Mares Superchannel and Apollo Bio fin. I was hoping to be able to use a single fin and these fit the bill until one broke

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
No fatigue at all, speaks of its efficiency. For serious wreck penetration, I would still stick with my Rocket Fins2 (since you don't need crazy speed). This would easily smoke my other 2 fins in a "foot" race using a flutter kick. They are positively bouyant. Frog kicks - it feels a little funny because of the upward lip no the side edges of the fin, but still works well. Strongest frog kick is probably from the Tusa's but they are just too stiff.
The divemaster tried these to tie down on the wreck. He uses appollo Bio fins, and he said the Seawing seemed weird, like he was not trying and was still moving. Isn't that considered the Holy Grail". Gotta love the spring straps too. A++++
As for sizing, size 8 3mm booties fit comfortably in a medium, but I like to use sandals instead and needed a large.

Try them out this weekend snorkeling and worked great. I'll be trying them out diving in a couple of weeks and look forward to trying them out. A few friends have them and say that they are great for diving. Thanks LeisurePro... I saved about $60 for these fins

Head to head race, my buddy with twin jets took the lead(I usualy win). Very comfortable but a little lacking on the power, design is much more efficient than other paddles on the market. But for the price go with the Twin Jets

I have been using volo power fins. Just finished 25 dives in Roatan with these. These are just as good but float. My only concern would be the life of the bungee cord type strap. I normally wear extra large but large fits fine with these.
Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
Mine were a size to big but still gave me alot of power. worked great with boots!

Swam circles around the people in my dive class with very little effort, less effort means less air used, less air means longer dive!

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
I have a pair of seawing nova at home and I love them. They do generate plenty of thrust with less effort but may require a little bit of adaptation at the beginning. Usually smaller kick give better results and changing direction is a little different too but still very easy. Just dip the shoulder in the direction you want to go and you're gone. On the cons side I'd say it's probably not the best fins for precision work like frog kick or backup kick. I don't find it as easy as with normal fins but maybe it's just a question of adaptation.

i've just started diving infact i just hade my second class last night. the first class i barowed some solid fins before i got my gear in, and i had a horrible cramping in the first 10 min. after some personal research i decided to buy a pair of these fins, and just wow it was a huge difference. i hardly even felt tired with now hint of cramping. movement was effortless and supper smooth. my instructor and another guy in my class are getting them now also. the biggest thing i noticed was i wasn't fighting the fins, they just worked.

Comments about Scubapro Scubapro Seawing Nova Open Heel Fins:
I trialled these fins for 22 dives in the Red sea in a variety of conditions. At first they felt awkward but by the end of the week I loved them. I have a tendency to get cramp but I didnt get a cramp all week in spite of having to kick against strong current and a couple of long surface swims. They deliver power when you need it. Rumour has it you cant frog kick with them. Nonsense, I can. So easy to put on when on a crowded boat platform. They are a little heavy due to the full foot pocket but the power is assisted by this design.
