I love these fins and I'm buying another pair.
Of course the reason I have to buy a new pair is that colored ribs on the tip of the fin are peeling back from the soft black rubber. I believe another user complained about that as well. So they might not be as durable as other fins out there.
I got 4 years and 200 dives out of them, so that is durable enough for me. And I did abuse them pretty badly.
As for the strap buckle, I love spring straps so no matter what fin I purchase I will be ripping the strap off to put on a spring.

These are the best fins I have ever owned. They are very efficient and are extremely comfortable (this might have more to do with the boots than the fins). They are large but I travel with them frequently with no problem. I have owned these fins for almost two years and have used them heavily so I can attest to the quality. The only problems I have with the fins are the buckles, they can be difficult to undue after a dive which can be a strain but this isn't a serious problem. Overall great fins.

Performance is fine. The problem I have is with the durability of these fins, and that is where the design fails. There are basically two, hard-vinyl, narrow spikes (in color) which run from the foot up to the tips of the fins on either side. The soft, black rubber provides for the tips'leading edge, behind which hard vinyl spikes terminate their path. I have noticed, after a very short time of ownership, that the black rubber has begun to delaminate from the spike-like tips of hard vinyl. It looks like, in no time, the black rubber will peel back much like a banana skin. The issue is unavoidable MHO because of the design. This means I could have made a much better choice than this model of fin, because they will not last very long. I wasted my money.

This is a overall good fin. Performs well in currents and low strain on your legs. However, I do find them difficult to don on and off. I recommend replacing the clamping system with spring buckles. They run slightly large but are a perfect fit with boots.

For those of you who are wondering if these fins perform in strong currents - they do.
I used to dive only with Mares avanti's because they are powerful, when I bought these fins I new they would be smoother - but thought there would be a trade off - with deminished power. I was wrong - excellent fins allround.

With tendonitis in my right foot, I can no longer use the stiff fins available at SCUBA dive shops. I needed a fin that would be light and very flexible, and this Mares fin was absolutely perfect. I didn't have any foot pain whatsoever, and I didn't sacrifice any performance at all. They were expensive (much less so through LeisurePro as compared to retail dive shops, but still quite a bit more than a standard fin), but very, very worth it.

I have had these fins for over 4 years and truly swear by them. I have used them in heavy currents and they can push you along with minimal effort. Another positive is the great design, all you have to do w/these fins is a light sputter kick and they move you along easily.
I have encountered many who have purchased these fins and they all rave about them.
The only hang-up is the buckling system. I find it awkward to use and at times to take off. Looking for good spring replacements, otherwise a must have fin.

The fins were perfect for me. I am short and not a lot of power in my legs and hips due to back surgery. These fins gave me the extra power I needed to keep up with everyone else. They were so easy to put on and take off with the quick release. The boots fit perfectly into the fin. I love them so much, I bought a set for my husband.

These are definitely high-end fins. Although more pricey than its competition, the Volos are extremely functional and easy to put on and take off. Even in wavy conditions, putting these on and taking them off is relatively simply. The clasp and lock system makes all the difference. Good power generation! My legs never felt tired after 40 minute + dives, largely because of the drive these fins supply.

i have dove with many different fins while learning and renting equipment when traveling and i have not found any fins that are better. light, comfortable, easy to put on and remove and powerful is what sets this apart form the rest. i liked split fins until i tried these and ran to the dive shop and purchased them with no regrets

I like these fins and get a lot of power without a lot of effort. I have recommended them to friends -- with one caveat...

I thought the buckle design would make them easy to get on and off, but I find the buckle is so stiff that I can barely get it open. Divemasters don't even try. I plan to replace the buckle and strap with a spring.

I also found that the "small" size isn't terribly small. I have size 6 feet (women's) and these seem to be at least a size 8. I can't really get the strap tight enough for the fins to be as secure as I'd like. They don't come off, but they slip a little.

I love these fins so much that when I lost one in the surf it didn't take me long to be sick of everyone else's fins and bought myself these again. Their ability to move you with such little effort is remarkable. Forget split fins with these fins you're easily able to do some shallow freediving unlike the spits which are to flimsy.

I was in a strong current with friends with split fins. I helpped them out of it with power of these fins. They do all the work and I use less air now.

Fins are comfortable, but lack the power needed in a top quality and high end fin. No comparison to my old rocket fins with regard to power.
