If you are an underwater sports enthusiast and have strong legs and ankles I would recommend these fins to you. I have used softer/shorter fins for underwater hockey and almost invariably my kick would bend them out of shape. With the Quattro I can use a full dolphin kick to get the most out of my legs work. I have been using these fins daily for the past month and I am very satisfied.

Whenever your ankle tires out, give it a rest as the fins are rather taxing on the ankles. I would recommend paying special attention to flutter kick, in particular when doing surface swim, because the fin will not fully go underwater and you will be hurting your ankle if you let it fully extend.

As an anecdote, I tried playing with softer fins and the feeling was of being barefoot. The Quattro really give you a lot of thrust and end speed, so if that is what you are aiming for, I would say, go for it.

I am going to test these fins in the ocean in a few months and will update the review then.

I bought these to use as travel fins since they're a full 6" shorter than my freediving fins. The blade flexes too close to the tip so you can't get that nice sine-wave bend that makes a good ascent/descent fin. I imagine it would work fine for underwater hockey or SCUBA, especially when collecting or carrying a lot of gear.

They run a full size larger than my Avanti HP's too so I had to wear neoprene socks. The heel tabs dig in to my Achilles so booties were a good thing. Mares build quality is top-notch as usual.

I am a warm water diver and have used the earlier version of this fin for over twenty years. I have found it to be a superb product for everything from free-diving to technical spearfishing. The foot pockets are more comfortable than any others I have tried including the larger apnea fins.

I got a 10-15 percent gain in power compared to the Mares Avanti fins. Fit in full-foot fins is tricky: I knew that the Mares cut fits my foot perfectly, but if you are changing from another brand, make sure you try them on first (or choose open heel). Also, be aware that these are long: make sure they fit in your mesh bag/fin pocket.

I scuba and freedive and these fins work great for both. I have tried using "freedive" longfins for scuba and I found them to be too much work resulting in cramps and sore ankles. These fins are the perfect combination with just the right length and stiffness. I don't know why there are not more semi-long fins available. Great for scuba and freediving to 40'. I needed a full size smaller than my other 2 pairs of Mares avanti quattros. (I wear size 10 shoes and needed 8-9 fins. Leisure Pro made the exchange with no problems.

The sizes indicated are UK sizes and not US!

These fins are the very powerful, and were highly recommended by all the members of my under water hockey team.

Best fins ever for Underwater Hockey! If you play underwater hockey, buy these fins now! If you are considering split fins, don't. I've tried two different models and returned both of them the same day. The only people who should consider split fins are those with seriously weak legs who don't want to go anywhere fast. These fins require more effort than split fins, but they produce much, much more thrust. It takes about three to five kicks from a set of split fins to cover the same distance as one kick with a set of Quattros.

I play Underwater Hockey and practice weekly and compete regularly. I have owned 2 pairs over the past 15 years and just recently purchased my 3rd. My family all swims with Mares. I have used them in the Bahamas and Mexico over the years. While I don't wear booties with my fins some of my teammates do. The Quattro's are a powerful fin, excellent for free diving and snorkeling and underwater hockey. If I only had one set of fins I could make the Quattros work for scuba as well.

Bang for the buck; a powerful fin for the fairly fit diver in challenging conditions. Not as much snap as a true long fin, but plenty of thrust when needed. Not for weak ankles though and they could cramp your calves if you didn't stretch and hydrate sufficiently. Great power transfer from very ergonomic foot pocket.
