Mares Avanti Quattro has set the standard for which all fins are measured. It's the world's first fin with four channels. Channel Thrust technology maximizes the channeling of water and moves a much greater amount of water compared to other fins of the same size. I have a wider foot and I love that the foot pocket accommodates this for me. I was always struggling to remove my last fins, however these are a breeze to get on and off. I love them!! Just wish they were a bit lighter in weight is all.

Without question, the best fins I've owned in 16 years of diving. I recently switched to these fins while diving in Thailand. Due to strong current at some of the dive sites (Similans / Koh Bon / Richelieu Rock) I was struggling to kick through and spent a lot of time and air to do so with my Atomic fins. Between liveaboard trips I picked these up and they were an absolute dream. Effort reduced by 60-80%, resulting in longer and more relaxed dives when faced with moderate to strong current. Were also excellent for all other conditions, including difficult surface swims.

Great fins. Pretty lightweight, not very fatiguing, great power, very good control, super comfortable foot pocket, well-constructed. The fin strap mechanism is better than most, but I would still recommend upgrading to spring straps. Overall, an excellent fin.

Found these in a bargain bin 15 years ago for $50. From the first time I tried them (over 500 dives ago) I absolutely loved these fins and still do (I even gave away my other 2 pairs of fins at that time). They work great for all types of kicks: flutter, scissor, frog, heli-turns etc, but they are tiring on long surface swims on my back (facing up). I was recently given a pair of Jet Twin Max fins that will probably collect dust until these die, which won't happen any time soon. Despite all the scars in them from heavy use, they still have plenty of life left in them and many miles to go.Matter of fact, I'm starting some work on Easter Island next month and am looking to buy the full foot version since I won't be needing booties there.Not only would I recommend them to a friend, I'll be buying another pair soon to keep as a backup.

Purchased these for my wife. She's not very big. The fins weren't heavy, but she couldn't have handled any more. She wore her hard soled booties inside and pronounced them the best fit and use she's had in the last 10 years. She is still a novice. Annual snorkeling and diving trips.

I wear a mens size 11, and the TUSA boots I ordered are an 11 too (and fit perfectly), so I ordered an XL in these fins. They do have a large foot pocket though and given another chance, I'd order one step smaller (a medium, as there is no size large in this fin).

I have used these fins since october of 2000, they are still in great shape, never lost thier flex, used them 100's of times. Great flipper shoves you super fast through the water and very light weight. The mares buckle system is superior to all others. I have them in yellow, just love them, very bright underwater and for a fin to perform like it was new 8 years later, what more can you ask for. I have replaced every item I originally bought when I got certified 8 years ago except for my fins, I mean I would like to replace them just to change it up a bit but I cannot find a logical reason to. They perform as if they were brand new and even though I have tried many others, these still always come out on top as my favorite fin.

I am very pleased and some of my friends are jealous, or I'm very pleased, that my friends are jealous. Great fin, better than the splits I've tried. The service and response was excellent. I've been using these fins for a few years now, through several hundred dives. They are very comfortable to wear and really move you through the water efficiently. I am still very disappointed with the "quick-release" straps though. I find them very difficult to open and have broken several fingernails trying in vain. I'm planning on purchasing spring straps to rectify this. My husband (also a divemaster) has the same fins and his straps broke the second time he wore them.

Some say the clips are too tight, and you need to work both, but this is untrue....you only need the inside clips if adjusted properly, if you cant get it on with only using the inside clips you have it set too tight. I have owned and dove these fins since 1996, Still on original Fin Straps even (have a spare just in case)My next set of Fins willl be these again.

Better than split fins by a mile. I would not buy any thing else. Mine have done over a thousand dives between 45 and 70m and still going strong with no signs of perishing or hardening of materials. I agree with other comments that a set of aftermarket spring straps would improve an already excellent fin but I am still using the origional straps!

Great fin for the money. Delivers good power with the varying finning techniques. Delivers the extra thrust that's sometimes needed when working in currents and when working with a large camera rig. Aside from being a great boot, my size 12 (2XL) SeaSoft Sunray boots are a most excellent fit with these fins! A set of after market spring straps improve these already good fins.

I liked these fins overall. The only issue I have with them is that the release takes a lot of force to undo. Other than that, they fit nice, give you lots of force with little effort and fit nice.

I have used these fins on approximately 50 dives. They are good mid grade fins except for the snapping strap feature. Frankly speaking the ABS (Adjustable Binding System), is a major pain in a particular rear facing body part. The snaps open very hard and if you are not wearing gloves you have a good chance of hurting yourself. I have noticed that they have been opening easier with time, which make me think this feature is wearing out. I cannot recommend these fins.

Purchased size according to chart for use with boot. Fin fits perfectly. Do the one time adjustment on land first and practice the release. Much easier to practice on land than in the surf. Great fin I would buy again.

These fins are excellent. They provide excellent thrust. The buckle system took a little getting used to, but after a couple of uses, they are very easy to use. The buckle system is made for easy on and easy off, no adjustment required.

I've owned 3 sets of fins in the 14 years that I have been diving...these for the past 6 years, and they are easily my favorites. Much less effort underwater than the Scubapros that I had. I don't understand some of the issues with the clasps either...I found them to be much easier than what you find on most fins...easy to get on and easy to get off. I especially like the ease of locking/unlocking the clasps when it comes to doing shore dives which I mainly do around here.

I have owned these fins for 4+ years now, and finally this last week I had one strap break, it's about time I was wondering If I would ever get to use the replacements that I had for back-ups, I have used them for everything over the years. good power comfortable, could be a little straining on newbies ankles, I know that there are better fins for free diving, but I have been using these. and was hitting 85' my second trip no problem. they take a beating and keep on going.

Very nice fins, can release with one hand by releasing only one buckle, easy on/off.
Not as good for snorkeling because your booties add bouyancy but still quite manageable.
Probably best rating 5 for diving, 4 for snorkeling

Loved my fins, especially after adding spring straps. Unfornately, a wave swamped the front end of the pontoon boat and washed a fin overboard in 200' depth. My other fins don't compare. I concider these the best fins for the cost.

I don't understand the complaints about the release clasps. I only release one side and can easily get my foot in and out of the foot pocket... and I wear a size 13! The fact that it keeps a "loop" which is still fastened loosely around your heel until you slip it out, makes it much easier to hang on to your fins when removing them before climbing a ladder to the dive boat. You can slip your wrist through the loop and carry them up the ladder reather than have to hand them up. Great design! And I can keep up or speed past anyone with them.

Very good set of fins, would recomend using dive boots with them, but other than the buckles taking some getting used to one of the best sets of fins I have used. The buckles make it easy to but the fins on once you've waded through the surf.

The buckle system is tricky, but it works well once you are used to it. It is one of the more efficient fins available for open water. Because it is shorter than the most efficient fins, it is good on wreck dives.
The very secure foot attachment makes it a real winner in cave diving.

Releases are hard to operate, especially in surf. You need to work both releases in order to get the fins on and off. Releases are difficult lock and unlock. Poor design- not much to recommend.
