Mares performed numerous tests on new materials in the field and in the lab. With this test information and after intense computer simulations, the Mares Avanti Excel was born. Mares design is inspired by marine mammals. Channel Thrust technology maximizes the channeling of water and moves a much greater amount of water compared to other fins of the same size. The result is greater thrusting power with the same amount of effort. Latest development in Channel Thrust is the Super-channel. The blade is designed with a large flexible central Super-channel propelling water-flow more efficiently down the fin blade instead of letting it spill over the sides for optimal performance and minimal diver effort. The elastic Optimized Pivot Blade (OPB) system ensures that the blade is always at an optimal angle during both the upward and downward strokes, giving considerably increased efficiency.

I loved the product for what it is. Great travel
fin for quick boat entries. If you like to kick,
you will find limits in propulsion. I tend
to drift along on long dives. The fin is great for penetration
diving due to it's small size. Very Very soft foot pocket.

Great fins for air travel and boat diving. Lightweight, which is important in staying under the 50# airline rule to avoid extra charges. Yet strong enough to swim across strong currents. I have a narrow foot, so I used short socks that kept my feet warm and comfy. First non-bootie fin, and I love it!

Nice lightweight fins, great for travel. Very good thrust for effort. NOT as good as Esclapez but fit in a standard suitcase. Very comfortable and soft foot pocket.

These are great fins but for fans of the plana avanti's be warned that the blades and most notably the foot pockets are much stiffer on these fins. It took a while to get used to.
