Just put away the splitfins after using these,
power and control, pretty easy to kick with as well. Nice and short.

Comments about Hollis Gear Hollis Open Heel Dive Fins F-1:

The springs are worlds better than elastic bands. Donning and ditching is a sinch. Fins are slightly heavy to the hand, but not to the feet. My legs are still adjusting to new fins, but for the same amount of effort, I go farther faster. They look cool to boot!

2XL is suppose to fit 13-15. I wear a 14 and even w/a boot the size is too big in both length and width.. Would even be too large for a 15....Tried my friend's XL's w/boots and they fit fine..Product is excellent just sizing is inaccurate...Always happy w/LP

Comments about Hollis Gear Hollis Open Heel Dive Fins F-1:

They look short and wide in the pictures. When I put them against my old fins they were a bit longer and wider but not much. They are very comfortable. Slide on and off with ease. The spring straps have a nice big loop to grab them making donning and doffing super easy and fast. Underwater they are perfect for flutter or frog kicks. I am very happy with them. Being slightly negative helps as well IMO. Just don't let one go after taking it off or it will sink away.

Comments about Hollis Gear Hollis Open Heel Dive Fins F-1:

Slightly neutrally buoyant which makes them perfect for dry suit use. Very powerful, perfect for the frog and modified frog. Spring strap is so quick and easy I can even put them on while wearing a dry suit and 5 mm neoprene mit-style gloves. Will never use any other fins for cold water. I wish that Hollis made fins for warmer climates with a full foot pocket.

These are awesome, very efficient. They do require good leg strength, very good for frog kick. I use these as my primary fins, if you need power these will deliver. Great spring straps!

Service & Delivery comments:

Well made heavy fin, it will give your legs a workout! My buddy said that I was going faster than normal, I did feel it on my legs but they worked great doing the frog kick and surface swimming on my back. I did dive with them for 1hr 20 minutes so I guess my legs getting tired would be expected.

Comments about Hollis Gear Hollis Open Heel Dive Fins F-1:

I bought these based on the description and reviews only as none of my local shops carry them or had any experience with them.As a dive rescue specialist, I wanted a stiff blade and not a lot of moving parts; I use the "KISS" principal (keep it simple stupid). These were perfect. They are easy to get on/off with the spring heel strap. They felt extremely comfortable on.They accommodate boots very well(I use a size 12 and had more than enough room).I used them recently at a training op and loved them. I got a lot of positive comments from other divers that just had to try them out.During one training op my line tender commented on how fast I was able to do my search pattern (I felt I was going very quick also). These were efortless for me to generate speed underwater.

The only thing is I wish they came in a brighter color. Droping these on a murkey bottom would certainly be a difficult retrieval.

Comments about Hollis Gear Hollis Open Heel Dive Fins F-1:

I use these fins with a Fusion drysuit with a heavy sock and SP 5 mil booties. With my wide size 10 feet, it's a perfect fit.

The fins are negatively buoyant which helps balancing out trim in a drysuit.

Foot pocket is well sized and shaped to fit a human foot - as opposed to other "old school" paddle fins.

The fin straps are fantastic. Good length for my foot and *really* easy to slip on. The rubber heel pad is very comfortable even with my soft boots, and the finger loop is helpful for donning and doffing the fins.
