For sizing of ANY open-heel fin, it is going to be very dependent on the boot you use. I recommend trying the fin with your booties to see what fits well and what doesn't. For these fins, or any, a thin boot is going to require a smaller size than normal and a hard-sole boot is going to require a larger fin than normal. A medium, soft-sole boot is going to be true to size or require a smaller boot, but not always. If you don't try it first, you really won't know until you do. As far as the Atomics go, a thick-sole boot is going to fit perfect with these fins (true to size), but a thin sole or thin boot might require a smaller size. Again, best to try before you buy.

Great fin, worked very well underwater, basically felt that i wasnt even working at all.

However, the after looking at them after one dive, they are fairly scratched and the material seems to be not as sturdy as i thought it would be. Adds questions over longevity of the fins......??????

I was on the fence about going with a split fin, I am a large, athletic guy with pretty strong legs so have never had an issue pushing my Avanti Quattros. However after discussing the efficiency of the split fin design with other divers decided to give them a try for a recent Cayman liveaboard trip and wasn't dissapointed. They were so easy to push I literally was checking my feet to see if they had fallen off my first couple of dives. Currents weren't too strong so I cannot vouch for their power in a strong current, but for mild currnets they were fantastic. Didn't love the buckle design for the rubber strap (spolied by teh MAres buckle which is easy for donning/doffing), had to completely unclick to remove, but other than that really loved this fin.

I just started diving in Hawaii and found that the current was getting the best of me with my old fins. I changed to the Atomics and I have never looked back. These fins are 'TRULY' the best on the market. They are very good in current and they have a lot of thrust. If you are looking for the best fin than this one is for you. I was skeptical at first because of all the debate over paddle fins and split fins in current. Well, I took the challenge and tried them out. I was passing the Divemaster in the current!

In reading the reviews, it is obvious, that fins are like shoes--you know when they fit. Everyone is a bit different. I purchased these fins and used them on a recent trip to Costa Rica. There were some tough currents, but they were superior to the basic paddle fin which I have used on previous trips to Costa Rica.

They are a bit tougher to travel with than my old fins--longer and heavier (get the Pelican dive bag), which complicates transport a bit. They fit in my suitcase, but take up more space than the old fins leaving less room for other gear. This is something to consider in the age of airline baggage fees.

Atomic makes a great product. I wear a size 11 1/2 boot and purchased the XL. I usually wear 2mm low top booties. I have to have the straps nearly on the last click in order for them to be snug. With my 3mm hightops they fit ok. I would like to have gone down a size though.

Fins are great. I wear a size 10 1/2 shoe, I have these in a Large and use them with a size 11 Deep See 3/5mm Purge Boot. The still have plenty of room for larger boots.

This fin is excellent. The only problem I have found is I have a Men's size 8 hard soled boot and the Medium is too small. I had to use an old pair of booties that only have a somewhat thick sole not the new boots that I recently purchased that are more like a tennis shoe. The fin is noticably faster and easier to kick. I love them. Can't wait to sell my mediums and purchase a large.

I have been using these fins for years. I just bought my 16-year old son a pair. We have done numerous tests of these fins and we have found these fins are significantly more effecient than any other fins we have tried. As a Dive Master I need to be able to move quickly and efficiently to assist the Instructor and students. GREAT FINS! I would highly recommend!

Great Fins - very comfortable and a world apart from my old fins. My legs feel fresh at the end of the dive and my ankles no longer cramp. The bottom line - I love them. Everyone wants to try them out when I'm not diving too.

I bought these to replace my Cressi Space Frogs.... i liked my Frogs better. The foot pocket was huge though, size X-Large is definitely good for drysuit or hardsole wet boots size 11 or greater. But these fins are too stiff for my liking and could not keep up with the Oceanic and Scubrapro splits. Already sold the Atomics for a pair of Oceanic Vortex V-12s.

I am not a picky person and was used to a pair of inexpensive fins that worked fine. I made the mistake of borrowing a freinds pair of these fins. At first I did not like the feel as I did not have any push. After modifying my kick slightly I realized that I was moving just as fast with very little effort. I just could not go back to my old fins again.

If you don't want to spend the money do not try these fins :-)

These are really comfortable fins. Easy to put on both in and out of the water and easy to remove after a dive. They move smoothly in the water and provide good force even with a weaker kick. The weight in the water is very good and the split fin provides a stable motion throughout the kick cycle. They give a little too much when making very small adjustments when compensating for surge or trying to back out of a hole.

I have owned my Atomics for 4 years and my wife on our last trip to Mexico tried out a pair of split fins and had to have a pair! she is my dive buddy and i was always waiting on her but after our first test she was waiting on me. the speed u gain without added energy is great. i have heard people complain about using them in strong currents but i have not had any problems. i was sold the first time i tried split fins (Atomics) and now so is my wife!

Fins are very good, good control, fast to speed up and very good in currents. The size is not especially needed in calm waters. I found them a little bit to heavy and to big (especially in dive troughs). Always intended to drag down.

What a great fin, literally no effort to get around, super efficient. Not the best for different kick styles, but frog kicks pretty well (a lot better than with other splits) and flutter kicks like a dream (I pretty much only flutter kick).

Great thrust, I like to go slow which means I barely have to move at all with these fins. I've talked to a few larger males (250 lbs+) who have them and complain that they "bottom out", that makes sense if you're a really big guy, I'm 170 lbs and I fly in mine.

My only pseudo-complaint is that they're a bit large for travelling around with. So are most Open Heel fins though, so it's not really fair to knock these.

I purchased Atomic Aquatics split fins after I tried most of the top fins models available on the market. They are really the best!!! Very fast and powerful, they let you swim very fast when you really need it - surprisingly, not making you exhausted. It means - very efficient rate: speed/power use. Very comfortable. The only bad thing, which cannot be avoided in such powerful fins is - they're a bit bulky and heavy for transport. Those are not backpacker fins! Those are fins for serious divers of all kinds - recreational, spearfishing or professional.

These fins are great underwater. On the surface, the tend to be a little less efficient and akward, but who wants to swim up there anyway. For me, the blades are a little wide and tend to rub against each other when tooling around. This could easily be my technique and it doesn't take away from performance.

These fins are fast. Good for diving and surface swimming. Only drawback is the strap clip. Once you undo it there's nothing to grab to keep hold of your fins...tough in rough water. I miss my old Mares straps where you could loosen the clip and the strap was still attached at both ends.

these fins are super-fast but not that maneuverable. If you are going to be diving where you need speed over finesse these are your fins. I reciently used them in Key Largo and it was tough using them to swim around the reef. But i was the only person to catch up to an eagle ray and get a picture.

I love these fins. They have a great power to effort ratio. I had a buddy "hitch a ride" when we were navigating the Cozumel currents and didn't even notice. The only thing I wouldn't use them for is tight spaces, i.e. wreck penetration or cave diving, they're really long. :-)

As the title suggests this is the best fin I have ever owned, or used. Period. Staying stationary in strong currents requires little effort. The propulsion generated is twice that of conventional fins with less than half the effort.

When one inspects this fin, he or she will find it to be sturdy, yet flexible. This is the highest quality fin I have used, and it better be with the price. ON a dive, you will find yourself going faster with little effort. I would be examining the Caye Chapel Canyons down in Belize, and then I would look up and see that I had passed my divemaster, whom at the debrief said I need to slow down, haha.Overall, this is a really good fin.
