Here's how: During the fin'stroke, water flow is directed through the PEV's. This helps reduce the stress on the divers leg while accelerating water over the blade resulting in increased velocity. Water movement through the PEV's reduce lateral movement of the fin (wasted energy), increasing the efficiency of the kick.

I purchased these fins because of the claim of being lightweight. I did not find that to be true. They are not heavy but they are no lighter than my current fins. I did not really use the fins so I cannot make a recomemdation either way about them.

One buckle would not stay clipped. Problem was the plastic was not fully trimmed from production. 15 minutes with a razor knife fixed enough of the problem to make the fin functional.

These are great fins. The foot pocket is extended to the back which gives excellent leverage. The fin itself with the soft fin insert channels the water very effectively for good stability and thrust. they are light weight and easy to carry.

Purchased these for first dive trip to Hawaii. Worked great! Lighweight, yet moves me through the water. I had problems cramping with my old fins, not so with these. Easy on the knees as well.

I find these fins to be perfect for the operations we do. It has a large open port at the toe to allow for easy removal of the fins. The shoe allows for booties to be worn and it is very comfortable. I recommend spring straps for dry suits in order to allow it to expand and contact when air moves to the boots and leaves them. Why pay expensive prices for fins that do the same as these.

Awesome fins, purchased just before our dive trip to Jamaica. Even with full foot, it was comfortable, easy to get on/off in or out of water. Very fast fins. Simple kicks would put us ahead or catch up fast to the group. Worked great in current and very light for travel. For the price I highly recommend these fins, Also make sure to call and give your sizes because they fit perfectly! Love Leisure Pro!!

I have throughly enjoyed owning these fins. Unfortunately, I lost mine on a recent dive trip and now have to replace them.
The only disadvantage I see is that they DO NOT fit small feet very well. I have small feet for a man (size 7) and they were somewhat sloppy but, with full booties and spring bindings they worked very well. I especially love the ease and action when kicking. They propel you through the water very easily. I would strongly recommend this brand and style to anyone.
I especially like the yellow color. They are very easy to see in the water. When we were diving in the Cenotes in Mexico the people following me could see where I was at all times.

These fins are a decent middle ground fin. Ok on maneuverability, ok on propulsion. I was hoping they would do better than split fins in a high current situation, but when I hit a site called the washing bowl, they really didn't perform well. Also, the buckle broke the second dive out. They are comfortable, light, and easy to pack, so I will still use them for Caribbean dives.

These fins are pretty middle of the road. They do not work well in a ripping current nor can they push heavy loads very easily.
I used them during my rescue class and was struggling to get my partner to shore. I then borrowed my buddies Dive Rite fins and was amazed at how much easier it became.
I still use the fins for easy vacation dives, because they not so heavy and not terrible. However, for serious diving, I will still with my Jets.

I don't know how the actual fin operates, because I didn't get to use it. I am a women's size 8.5, and the s-m size should fit a womens size 6-9. when I put the fin on, my foot slipped through the open toe area. It was that BIG! My husband wears a mens size 9.5, and this fin fit his foot, even biger than his current fin!

These are great fins! However, they are not for people who like a "soft" or split-blade feeling. But, for me, they feel very efficient with both flutter and frog-style kicks.
