The VT Pro offers large, easy to read alphanumeric displays and color coded graphs where green means "go," yellow means "caution" and red means "stop." There is a variety of user settable audible and visual alarms. The computer can be turned on before your dive, but if you forget to do this, it turns itself on underwater. The batteries have a 100 hour lifetime and are user replaceable at any time without the loss of data. The computer displays temperature and time of day.
Although suitable for sport divers of any level, the VT Pro has many special features experienced divers will appreciate. It can be used as a computer to 330 feet, a depth gauge to 399. It offers both time to fly and desaturation countdowns. It automatically adjusts for altitude and salt or fresh water.
The VT Pro has alarms for:
- High 02
- High and maximum PO2
- Turn around time tank pressure
- Ending tank pressure
- Maximum depth
- Elapsed dive time
- Maximum nitrogen
- Dive time remaining
Graphics indicate:
- Air time remaining
- Oxygen loading
- No decompression time remaining
- 02 time remaining
- Ascent rate
With the VT Pro you'll never forget to make a safety stop and you won't have to guess where or how long to make it, the computer alerts you visually and audibly when you reach 15 feet and shows you when safety stop time is up .
The VT Pro offers backlighting but lets you determine the length of time it stays on, from 0 to 7 seconds. It also lets you choose as many as four main and one alternate dive mode displays.
The VT Pro stores data from as many as 24 dives. An optional USB cable lets you download this data to your PC.

For the price this is THE transmittor dive computer to purchase. Large face, auto functionality is wonderful and intuitive without using the manual, even on the first dive--as long as you are not doing anything out of the ordinary (nitrox, advanced functions etc.). Flashes between two screens showing depth, time, air left, and NDT, safety stop, etc. on the default. Easy to read. Where I think divers get intimidated by this computer is on the advance functions and attempting to set them.

I have been using my VT Pro for several years now and it is used regularly while servicing our local aquarium.
The flooding issues that have been reported here are the result of improperly securing the battery compartment. It's a little tricky to accomplish and I would suggest practicing it (a dry run....get it!) a few times to see what I mean. If you're not sure or not comfortable do it, bring it to someone who can.
The faulty transmitter reports can be summed up in two words: battery and depth. Batteries die...slowly.
Depending on the frequency of use in and out of the water, the battery will drain. Not rinsing the unit properly will allow salt deposits to build up around the water sensor and it won't shut off. That little tidbit of information is in the manual.
Depending upon your depth and distance from your first stage regulator (that's where the sending unit is attached), the computer will stop communication with your sending unit and go into post dive mode. Returning the unit to depth will trigger the connection to resume. SO, picture yourself on a shallow reef, kind of skimming the surface, hovering around 3 to 5 feet. You get the picture.
I'm very happy with mine and for your reference it is used every other weekend in salt water...could be our 76 degree reef exhibit, 60-ish penguin exhibit, or one of our 45 degree mammal exhibits.
Read the Manual…multiple times, keep it clean. Now go dive!

I got this computer used, and it was shipped wtih batteries that needed to be replaced. After I replaced both batteries the computer worked flauless on my first dive. It was in very cold water on New Years day in Ohio. Water temp 40. It worked without a hitch. Still worried about the batteries, but there really easy to change.

Great initial experience - until the battery compartment flooded. Keeps cutting out after receiving factory service. I am no longer trusting it.

I bought this used and it has performed flawlessly. I have had no battery problems but have had problems losing transmitter. I hold my arm closer to the transmitter and everything is ok. A great economical computer!

The reliability concerns already posted are valid. I bought a used unit which drained the battery very quickly and I flooded it after 15 dives because I had to change the battery on the boat.
Oceanic was "nice" enough to sell me a refurbished unit, which I had to replace twice due to the battery draining in less than 3 weeks.
The current computer works without any issues and am finally happy with it. However, due to the reliability concerns and smart SAFETY, I still have a backup SPG mounted from my first stage... better safe than sorry.

If you dont mind diving without critical information this is the unit , otherwise only use this unit with a backup air gauge / depth gauge / bottom timer , they will all fail at one time or another . Ive had about as many failures as success with this unit .In coldwater the transmitter fails regularly , even with a new battery . They have been good at replacing faulty transmitter etc . Way too much down time for me , im going back to a hose .

I have had nothing but great results with this computer. It has about 100 dives on it and I have replaced both batteries once with no problems or leakages. I did put it on a retractable mount and got rid of the wrist strap which was getting it the way of my drysuit seals. I highly recommend the retractable mount. Very reliable.
Arrived with nearly dead battery in the transmitter which had to be changed from the start, but otherwise, no problems.

Very good computer / transmitter. You'll have everything you need for any dive. Easy to operate. This computer will show everything: tissue loading, o2 exposure (nitrox up to 50%), dive time remaining, gas remaining, gas pressure, no deco time remaining, safety stop timer, deco, air consuption, ascent rate, water temp...I can just go on and on. You can't find a better deal, specially with the transmitter included! I'm very happy with it and recommend to anyone. Buy the USB cable, it helps a lot. I use windows vista and downloaded the new software from oceanic web site, not a problem. The cable is expensive, but it'll save you a lot of time.

For the price and the features, this was a great purchase. Some people may have had trouble with this computer, but I took it out on my first liveaboard trip and after 14 dives in 2.5 days, I didn't have any issues with the product.

First one failed and was replaced. Difficult to change battery and maintain watertight integrity, and it needs to be changed frequently. My current one flooded 60 dives after changing.

On my 3rd VT Pro now. Hoseless system is a very attractive concept, but I would prefer to have the reliability of the directly connected computer. Has been problematic at most inopportune times, Galapagos, Socorros- each time requiring a replacement (at a cost) from Oceanic. Fortunately, I never travel without redundant gear which has saved me as a result of faillure of VT Pro. Cannot recommend this product as a function of my repeated difficulties; and fact that I personally would not purchase again.

The transmitter worked once in awhile. Leisure Pro/Oceanic replaced the computer and transmitter. After two dives the transmitter no longer works.

Excellent product! With this computer and an integrated air source on your BC you couldn’t wish to be more streamlined. The interface takes a little time to get used to, but once familiar with the different options, monitoring every detail during the dive is easy. The PC upload option is also great (although you pay extra for the cable). Really worth the money.

I have used it on about 100 dives with no problems. I replaced the batteries in the transmitter and reciever once and that was very easy. The cover scratches easily but you don't see the scratches underwater, and it is real easy to just pop the cover off to review your dives on the surface. It is large and easy to see, even if your eyesight is not great. That is why I went with a hockey puck style rather than a watch style.
