Where do I start! I very rarely criticize a product I purchase, but unfortunately after so many frustrating attempts to get my ATOM to do what I want, I cannot but sit down and write a review about this particular product.
The PC interface to say the least is the most illogical design ever. From the advertised "Splash and Play" to "Plug and Play" , I can only say I spent forever trying to get the system to work. Little things like changing your Windows display to the "Windows Classic" function (to allow some of the menu's to be read correctly), down to trying to get the USB/watch interface to work proved time consuming.
Going out to dive means a constant battery replacement because the battery life on the watch is questionable. It has happened before that I arrive on the beach only to find my watch battery flat. Yes, I have learnt to take a spare along but it is a little frustration to constantly replace the battery while your dive buddies are waiting.
Finally trying to get a signal from the transmitter to your watch is also frustrating at the best of times. One day it works the next it doesn't. Sometimes I have a good signal on the beach only to kit up on the boat out at sea to find I have lost the signal again. I have started using my old analogue gear again, purely because I cannot rely on the signal.
Finally, the functions the Oceanic ATOM provide are very good. You might however need to brush up on where you find the desired information as it can be a bit complex at times pushing the various buttons to find the menu page you are looking for.
I have to confess that I do like to purchase the best I can afford but somehow I feel that maybe I should have gone the route of buying a straight forward, easy to use dive computer. Sometimes having all the gadgets just means you have more that can go wrong.
Regards
RF

I bought this as my first computer several months after getting certified. It's a bit difficult to learn how to use all the functions and what everything means, but the more often you use it the easier it becomes. A frequent complaint I've read about this computer is the short battery life, but having user replaceable batteries is a big plus. After taking it on only one dive the batteries ran low and I had a hard time swapping them out (but eventually did, could just be user error). Granted, I don't know how long it had been sitting on the shelf with those batteries, so I will suspend judgement on this point. I was a little nervous using the air integration function, afraid that the batteries in the unit or the transmitter would die or that the link would get lost, but it was just fine. It's been really nice just having to look at my wrist for my gauge details rather than fumbling around for a console floating around. It's slightly annoying to need to press a button to get my air information (on the Atom 2.0, this is shown on the main screen)--especially if my hands are full as in photography--but not a huge inconvenience since if your air time goes lower than your no-decompression time, that is what will be shown on your main screen. All in all, I'd say it's a fantastic computer and I am very happy with my purchase.

great computer performs way better than expected. one of the best things about it is being able to program from you computer. it is a little difficult to remeber what buttons to press at first but pretty quick to figure out. took me about 3 dives before i knew where and how 100%. Also nice that you can monitor 3 transmitters so me and my wife can monitor each other quite easily. For the price i believe this is the best bang for the buck.

GREAT product for the price. I got the Atom 1.0 before the 2.0 was available. I am a Divemaster, and I love this dive computer. The two downsides are that (1) it will take you a little time to learn how to operate, you need to read or at least flip through the manual (but once you learn, then you're done), and (2) there's a minor software glitch, I believe, with downloading the dives, you have to open two instances of the progam. I bought it before I went pro, and for a pretty reasonable investment got a wireless dive computer that I can use for a very long time. Another plus, you can change the batteries on your own, no need to send it to the dealer. That was a BIG plus for me. If you have endless money, go buy a Sunnto D9 (they're more intuitive to operate). If you want a terrific wireless dive computer that looks good and works well, for a good price, buy this one or the Atom 2.0 .

Comments about Oceanic Oceanic Atom 1.0 Air Integrated Hoseless Dive Watch (Complete System):
I have done about 80+ dives with this PDC and I love its small size and wireless functionality. I would prefer the Atom 2, but for the price you cant beat the Atom 1. I only have a few complaints about the Atom 1. You have to press a button to check your air pressure, it should be on the main screen like the Atom 2. Also the battery in the watch drains in about 4 months weather being used or not. So be sure and keep an extra battery in your save a dive kit.
There were also a few times in the beginning I switched it to No2 and did not realize it. The connection to the PC through the download cable is not reliable and the software is mediocore, but still a nice bonus. I love the wireless transmitter, no problems with it. Get intregrated air with your BCD and this, and you are streamlined. A lot of great features in a small and easy to use and read computer. If I hadn't of got such a screaming deal on my Atom 1 I would have bought the Atom 2.
